@damaskkk2 жыл бұрын
This part of this mix gets more terrifying to me every time I hear it. It's just coated head to toe in this depressed cynicism. With just a tempo/pitch change, heavy reverb, and the closeness of the high end removed, L'Amour Toujours transforms from a celebratory, anthemic, and quite frankly beautiful track that functions as a universal invitation to the promise of happiness provided by the mid 90s-early 00s rave culture with bright synths, ethereal atmospheres, and lyrics that reflect love and beauty to a horrific sight through sound alone. Its classic melody, distorted and moving at a near crawl, becomes a haunting reminder of the truths that might come along with rave culture; the fate which the drug addicted smiley faces never tell you: people will die. As a reminder, it feels ghastly, like the ghost of someone who OD'ed and died at a club in 2002. After the grim interlude that Salem made by scratch, Forever Young feels like it laughs, ending abruptly on the line, "do you really want to live forever?" That just fucks me up so hard. It's like it recontextualizes the meaning from being about the cold war to an argument in favor of rave culture's passive death wish. Do you feel great now? You could become eternally this age. Would you honestly want to live out a full life? Just have fun.

It's like it recontextualizes the meaning from being about the cold war to an argument in favor of rave culture's passive death wish. Do you feel great now? You could become eternally this age. Would you honestly want to live out a full life? Just have fun.
i really love this comment
@@JamaicaElharar thank you. It comes from the heart

This song reminds me of my dad , a party man , I nice drunk , would love to have party’s, would got you introble with ur mom , wasn’t scared to do stuff with you , like jump off a bridge into a river , or swim right nexto a waterfall , take you bike riding near cliffs , he loved this song now , I know I’m 13 but I’ve been through a lot and I understand more than you think , oh dad , you where the one person I wanted to see the world with you left us behind all I have is your roller-skates. MDMA + This on repeat last night, for at least a good two hours. Alone, black light, chainsmoking. Something about it all felt so sentimental. One of those very relaxing molly trips.
Don't get caught up in it, dose with a religious level of strenuousness
thanks dude, it's was awesome

A song that let's you imagine the feeling of a memory that is lost in the past that is something you miss and love yet dripping like blood as you remember it in your mind and hate that its just a memory in the end it no matter what you do all you can do is repeat the song and stay lost in the loop thru the song
Yes.

Reminds me of some heart felt Clams Casino songs. It gets me the same way “I am god” by clams does!!
first time, clearly
This!!! I Am God also gives me the same very specific feeling as this one
Tell me how this sounds so nostalgic when I'm just hearing it for the first time right now
this is something else than just mix, its spiritual link with another dimmension
I love house music… and I especially love this guy when he uses old house songs and slows them down to give them an ominous feel.
every little crumble of my taco held together by the orange slime in it, it's an orange found on the corner of sun spots. only so many spectrums, my eyes limited. Ascension to the beggining
Please explain
This version is a masterpiece. It's about strong feelings not talent.
This is real good music for a comedown.
D Sads holy shit I was thinking the exact same thing...it’s depressing enough that it’ll match your mood but also uplifting and happy at the same time to snap you out of your slump
Hahahaha:)
I wish to turn myself inside out listening to this ... distance myself from myself ... observe , sit there for an eternity ... until I´m finally satisfied ... then everything ceases - fing forever young again ...
this song is timeless
I know I'm not insane because there's many like me, all dancing to that old tune.
I will be listening to this during the zombie apocalypse, while riding a "1969" Ford Mustang through the abandoned cities.

masterpiece, i love both of the songs
first song my music was ever recommended under. thank you SALEM.
Or how to rebond with oneself As tears roll up and down An upside down rainbow on the face A smile no disguise Eyes closed in bliss Ears wide open for the stream of heaven of salem.
I cannot explain how odd it is to find this in my recommendations. Haven't heard either of these tacks for so long let along in a well produced mix.
I remember crying to this thinking about what we could've been. I hope your okay I see you struggling but I can't be there anymore. I love you so forever and always, like my young heart when we were kids. It'll never change.

Honey, they’re playing our song 🥰
tfw you see the mushroom cloud in the distance and this song comes on
This is of course brilliant, the original version of Forever Young came out in 1985. This version was done by a group called Interactive in 1995. For SALEM to take a happy hardcore track and turn it into a which house rave mix, takes balls !
They really are something, I love this slowed down witch house version but I remember "I'll fly with you" from those first times getting drunk :P
fractalign Yes. This is brilliant! I'm finding I'm liking this version so much better.
witch house is happy hardcore in reverse

90 & 00's vibes
As someone who was actually around for the 90's and 00's, I can respectfully say that this was not at all the vibe.
so, whats your point? they are still 90's vibes
i bet i'm older than u lol but i respect your opinion
There is a reason for that, I suppose you know it... kzhead.info/sun/qpVun7t8n2Jofmw/bejne.html
@@dreamandwakee Not an opinion but facts, i get your comment, but the 90s and early 00s was all about uppers, and happy vibes... can't say i don't like it, but this ish' is most def the vibe of the downer generation popping depressive pharma's, and feeling empty, cos they don't have the balls to go wild and have a good time, in fear of standing out from the crowd.. Sad but true.

Chills still in 2019
it's like having a flashback to all the festivals, raves and afterparties you been with your closest friends and realizing that's all so far in the past because we all moved on to different directions in life but the one you took feels like it's going nowhere. you just wanna feel like a careless teenager again sneaking out at night experiencing new experiences and see the sunrise with a bright look to the future. the future is here now and you just feel cold and lost, at least then you had this wander to what might be.
I know how you feel alone cus everyone’s gone and dont feel like your accomplishing much anymore but just keep going and find some stuff that makes you happy and take care yourself
Beautiful

Was one of my favorite childhood songs (the original), too bad I never found someone to truly fly with, so this version now suits me better.
