Chinese manufacturer Hongqi has revealed its latest entry into the EV space. The E-HS9 has been dubbed as the 'Chinese Rolls-Royce Cullinan' due to its luxury design. The Hongqi E-HS9 is popular across Asia and other parts of the world and Domi got her hands on it to drive here in Dubai. Let us know what you think in the comments!

I have a HS5 2.0T, so far, I've done 73k km, no issues at all, averaging 8.7L/100km, still nice and quiet and tight.

They were making fun of Japanese cars in the '50s.(When American cars dominated the market.) Now the kings of the USA are Japanese cars. The perception of poor quality made in China is breaking down, and they have made a rapid entry into the automobile world. They will also produce very competitive cars in the future. Auto giants must work hard if they don't want to end up like Nokia.
Chinese car makers made a stunning revolution the last years in design and innovation, electric of course! But I do not believe in a kind of up roll like Japanese or South Korean cars: not because of the quality or design or innovation, but future political problems.. you know!

But the difference is Japanese car is built to last, Chinese like to build car based on Mercedes and BMW out these etc these are not car to last but only to look good and fancy.
@@mikemountain7630 We don't know that, because our car is not tested by time. But I agree our car company is more into luxury cars, and not many luxury cars are built to last.
@@mingshili9769 well, it will be determined by market demand, since overwhelming Chinese prefer luxury/fun over long lasting , it's hard to imagine Chinese car builder will gear tour long lasting. I see another Chinese purchasing VW. they r fun car but it's not even a mediocre car. Another thing is I noticed (mainland Chinese) seems to like new stuff,phone car,etc. Getting a new one every few year. So because of that I can't imagine how much of built to last is keeping in mind when building a car. I prefer you being right though.
Chinese car manufacturer companies are doing superb job excellent work they were doing and in car market now we have choice to select car in our price range thank you china for giving us opportunity 🙏

used to hate the looks of all the hongqi s, but now i actually am quite impressed by the looks. there is a luxury, boss and beasty feel from the front and yet it is still young looking at the same time.

Hongqi is the word means ‘Red Flag’ in Chinese, it a brand with long history and used to only provided to premium leaders in the country.

This brand they’ve created is art.
Reason why it looks like a Rolls Royce is because HongQi's chief designer is Giles Taylor, who was the chief designer for Rolls Royce from 2011 to 2018.
We have this car as a family car. It's a good car, and the quality feeling is good. Awesome to drive longer distance with, and a lot of space.

It's not a cheap knockoff, it's a real beast in terms of performance with surprisingly great built quality and comfort. Love this car

The center screen mounted on the console is blocking the center air-vents for a/c.

Love this car, inside & outside. What a design!
Just saw this thing on the motorway, what an absolute behemoth of a car
I have the Premium spec model of this car, which I got in march. It is an excellent car with solid build quality, on par with german vehicles. The downside is the software. Hard to navigate the menus, quite a lot of bugs that make the radio unstable. Plus for having Apple car play/Android auto. Also, in general, there are a lot of confirmation sounds whenever you turn on or off things that can be a bit annoying. Some of it can of course be turned off. The best thing is that with the EV policy here in Norway, the car was only 65,000 USD, which makes it a great value.

I had a G Wagon while living in California. But I moved to Asia last year, and seriously considering the BYD U8, which is amazing Chinese technology, not seen in the USA. Price point is very similar to this one. Thank you.

You can buy any Hollywood movies DVD and any songs CD at US$0.80/DVD/CD. Did you know BYD of China just pirated toyota corolla 100% and basically copy 99% of all toyota model until they stolen the battery technology from Taiwan Foxconn and only 4 of BYD's staff was sentenced to jailed and the boss is not affected at all.

@@onkycui in most part of the country is no problem.we drive electric since it’s a lot more affordable due to the taxes/insurance and everything else. Driving diesel or petrol car is cca 40% more expensive in Norway.

It looks like a brick on wheels from the outside.The Chinese car industry has come a long way in the last decade when it comes to some of the cars by Hong qi they need to get someone to do something about the styling maybe if they hired a Italian styling firm may make them a challenge to the German car industry.

Hongqi is the luxury unit of First Automobile Works (FAW) group, one of China’s biggest automakers. The marque’s parent is even a joint venture partner of Japanese automaker Toyota for mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao markets.
HK and Macau don't share Toyota products with mainland China as those two cities are RHD. Most of the Japanese cars in those two markets are imported from Japan.

What a signature brand of Hongqi! Despite it's a E Car, it's luxurious, and the price is fair.

no information regarding the US market so far. HongQi is currently in Northern Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

I guess it depends on what you consider to be a ripoff. But either way this design makes sense to signify its position in the market. Besides, it's designed by the guy who used to design Rolls Royce so it makes sense to capitalise on his talents and history.
