As a professional automotive technician...i admire these guys. The way they dropped that transmission is pure genius
There's no difference with a normal workshop, besides that they don't have ramp and no airtools to loosen the nuts and bolts. Next thing is that they polute the earth like no one else, because fluids are spilled everywhere and they throw back in the old transmission oil that has alot of micro metal shavings in it because there's no oilfiltration in that gear box, so it's not oil but toothpaste. And sitting on the ground like that is bad for the knees and back on the long term.

If they gave the guys at your shop 6 guys to help them.. They wouldn't complain. This is a one man job at most shops

@@Elradon I rarely use power tools and its still a one man job. and this transmission here is a temporary fix , not a rebuild . This fix has just prolonged the inevitable for a little longer.

As someone from a spoiled country like America, I admire and respect seeing the work that these men do with what they have VERY resourceful. As another comment said, I’d love to see what they could do with some better tools and fresh fluids.
What u mean by what they would do ? They would do exactly the same thing as your local meachanic.

It’s a trade off, when labor is cheap and tools are expensive you get 15 guys doing the same job 1 guy can do with the right tools

The Manual says " use special tool DAF 27688-99867 to remove the front lay shaft bearing using the liquid nitrogen method for installation " we haven't got one of them but I've got a lump hammer and an old tyre lever!, That'll do

It's a miracle that none of this guys have black toe casued by some heavy truck part fell on their feet. Respect for hard work, passion and knowledge.

I love that the kids are not just watching doing nothing.. they are intuitive and jump right in to help hold something or align something while the other person is installing or removing something... they definitely have the right mindset and attitude for mechanics... great job fellas =)

in my opinion if they have had fancy power tools, they would have gotten lazy and been dependant on tools.
Please use new transmission oil when you overhaul the gear box as the old may contain metal particles and broken pieces of gear metal
They are using old oil just for testing .after that they clean it again with kerosene oil.and then put new gear oil in it .they are master in there trade
this is Pakistan and this skill is next level. Proper mechanical engineers there. I liked the way they re-used the transmission oil :)
Я просто охреневаю от этих индусов, в похожем видео видел, как они сняли такую же шестерню с коробки наварили обычной трансформаторной сваркой зуб(прямозубая передача), напили поставили обратно и заебись чётко. Ну тут они меня тоже удивили, ладно коробку не перебирали, просто шестерню поменяли, но когда в конце они отработанное масло опять сюда заливали, потом шестерни каким то зубилом забивали, я просто охреневаю от них...
и еще подсолнечного пол литры добавили

they've all got killer hair while doing this work in likely 90+ degree heat too
Since the work process is shown one by one, I can see what kind of work was done in what order, so I could see it without getting tired.

I got my transmission rebuilt by a shop with all the modern tools and machines. Clean room for the assembly. Less than 1000 miles and I'm having to fight with the shop because it still isn't right. Didn't even make the break in service. These guys are doing it in the dirt and most likely would have done a better job.
Who needs power tools when you have a man each for every nut and bolt!😃
And who needs fresh oil when you can use some of the old oil!

These the guys you go see when you want to be back on the road in 4 hours.
… and then to break down again 2 months later. Using the old, worn out, contaminated gear oil, full of metal shards and debris. Makes no sense after all that work pulling and dismantling the transmission. Talk about spoil the ship for ha’pence worth of tar.

Love to see the skills and work ethic passed to the young boys so there are future mechanics and the skills carry on. Funny when the dumped that used transmission fluid back in and added about a quart of new fluid. Spent a short time in Pakistan and the skills and ingenuity are quite impressive.
So after you rebuild a transmission with a blown gear you just put the same oil back in it???
This way they save money on material 🤑 Possibly the client wanted a cheapest job 😅

We complain about working conditions here and not having the right tools etc and here you have a team with no power tools, not even a ratchet! And they can rebuild the gearbox on a lorry! Fair play to them I take my hat off to guys like this they just get the job done regardless of conditions etc 👍

Good team work and at the same time a great way to train young mechanics. I am very impressed with your work ethic. I believe about using used transmission oil maybe it's the truck owner's request to reduce costs

No that’s not right, if they used mew oil completely there’s a chance something went wrong with the transmission control valves , once you get this dirty you can’t go back to full cly
was any parts replaced at all? they didn't show it but the broken cog was replaced?

Light tapping does no damage to these heavy duty bearings

I don't know why people are complaining. I always fix Pakistani Truck gear boxes with a sledge hammer and cold chisel. Works every time, and the customers always come back. We develop strong friendships due to frequent gearbox repairs.
Reusing the dirty used oil..and a pinch of dirt and sand.....perfect!
Regarding the re-use of the old oil: They let the sludge settle out for a few hours and decanted back about 85% from the top, then making up for the volume left in the pan by a top-up with fresh oil. That is a lot better than simply dumping the entirety of the old oil back into the box.
Yes, I do the same if I don't have oil while out on a service call. I leave the bottom half inch or so in the pan, and leave it low. Only on manuals and differentials though, stuff with fling/bath oiling.
i would put in fresh oil for peace of mind ...........
All these boys had a dream tough time made them mature before age did awesome job
That is the best way to learn a trade hands on, Here in Europe our children are brought up staring at a mobile phone or Ipad what do they learn nothing !!!!!!!

I think they need to learn what air tools are like impact guns it would save them alot of time and make their lives easier.
Cost of one power tool is probably more than 2 months of their wages. Power tools are expensive. They have to get the job done with whatever is available to them.
Big fan of South Main Auto and Pine Hollow and thought to myself, how would these guy cope with a modern vehicle with all the modules? Then I thought to myself, these guys would figure out anything.

Yes Trans fuild doesnt break down like oil in you engine, waay different conditions, they filtered the used oil before adding it back in and indid see them add some sort of additive from the silver canister.
