  • well, at this point, these puzzles aren't challenges anymore for cubers since the methods stays the same. The real puzzle now would be to disassemble/re-assemble them completly ^^

      @LightSchiffer@LightSchiffer7 жыл бұрын
    • Jake Smith running further distances is the challenge of running. The challenge if cubes is creating a method, and once you have a method the cube is generally easy. So since the 17x17 uses the same method as 5x5 or 7x7, it is not a challenge to the average cuber

      @GreenBeans72@GreenBeans727 жыл бұрын
    • Well it not at this point, it was way earlier. Yet people enjoy solving 6x6x6s and 7x7x7s. The biggest cube I have solved is a 7x7x7 and anything bigger would be a challenge. Why? Because I would almost certainly screw up at some stage and the size makes it hard to use muscle memory. You could also argue that disassembly and assembly is virtually identical to smaller cubes.

    • He probobly won't because the examinx is truly gargantuan compared to even the Petaminx. It took him 100+ hours to make the Petaminx ball, and that could easily double with the Examinx.

  • I'm pretty intensely excited for this, but at the same time, I'm an amateur cuber who doesn't have a job nor money. The thing that really bugs me right now though, is where are the 12x12s, 14x14s and 16x16s? Since the 13x13 currently exists and the 15x15 and 17x17 will exist, they should be *fairly* trivial to make and they probably would sell decently, since I'm sure people would be more than willing to fill in the gaps in their puzzle collections.

    @MuzikBike@MuzikBike7 жыл бұрын
    • Those puzzles have hidden internal layers so they are much more difficult to make. So a 14x14x14 for example will have as many parts as a 15x15x15 and probably cost the same even though the quality is likely to be inferior. MoYu stated they will however make the 12x12x12 and 14x14x14 eventually.

      @TonyFisherPuzzles@TonyFisherPuzzles7 жыл бұрын
    • @Tony Fisher : How do you know about the Moyu's 12x12x12 and 14x14x14? I asked them in facebook and they said that they do not have such plan. I only know that VeryPuzzle is going to mass produce a 12x12x12, they announced with photos. :)

      @christant6054@christant60547 жыл бұрын
    • I think it was on the speedcubing forum but forget. I also forget whether it came from MoYu themselves or someone stating "Moyu plans....". Do you have a link to the VeryPuzzle 12x12x12 announcement? I can't find it.

    @timmartin7258@timmartin72587 жыл бұрын
    • The big void puzzles can be a pain and I have a DIY Void Truncated Icosidodecahedron which I need to assemble but keep putting off. My own puzzles are probably the worst though. The last few pieces on my Giant Megaminx and Giant 4x4x4 were horrible to put in. I am looking forward to taking a 17x17x17 apart. It should be straightforward to assemble but will take a few hours.

      @higloo1094@higloo10946 жыл бұрын
    • The 22x22x22 holds the UWR but as far as I know it will not be submitted to Guinness. It's quite a lengthy process and needs to be judged by someone independent. It's likely it would be rejected since movement is very difficult and pops are likely. If I was judging I would certainly give it the record BTW. Someone started a 25x25x25 and showed a video of the early stages. His design though is flawed and he stopped making update videos a few months ago. I assume he gave up. In December 2016 Grégoire Pfennig said he was working on a 33x33x33 and planned to start printing it when he got his new printer in May 2017. I haven't heard any more about this project but it's likely he is keeping quiet until it is finished. I have a few doubts about his design and predict he will have to make adjustments to it. Within the next 5 years I am fairly confident we will see a working 33x33x33 though.
