Apart from the 160,000 who attended there are millions and millions of others who DIDNT even try to attend Knebworth because it was actually embarrassing. A karaoke band with the lead singer of a now defunct band. It was like that Spike Island show with all the tribute acts, nothing more. You dress Knebworth 2 up all you like but those who know, know...and those who know weren't there.
Difference is that Noel owns his Oasis catalog unlike the Beatles who don’t. Led Zeppelin were the first band to get full autonomy of their work although artists got screwed for decades ( Prince, Tom Petty, etc. )
It’s a huge pity because the more I hear Noel talk about the break up the more I’m convinced he won’t do a reunion. At least anytime soon. The guy is headstrong and stubborn (and a genius) and won’t do anything he doesn’t wanna so. A huge shame 😢
Its not a pity, oasis wouldn't be as good as they were! Im glad they have great solo careers but i pray they never get back together!
The word "genius" gets thrown around so much these days that it's lost its force of meaning. Kanye West gets called a genius, for example. Noel has written some of the best songs of the last 40 years and is probably responsible for more people picking up the guitar in the last 30 years than anyone else (with the exception of Kurt Cobain and a scattering of others). His lyrics, his "borrowing", his chantable choruses. The man can stand amongst the best of them and not be out of place. So sad that some people only know Oasis for Wonderwall or as (wrongly) a Beatles rip-off. Their early b-sides are better than most musicians' entire catalogue.
I know he is stubborn at times, he has even admitted it but it seems to me he has a reasonable, healthy logical reason for not contacting his brother. If things were different maybe I'd feel like you but when Liam is still being Liam ... I think its for the best they stay away from each other.
It's not for us to say if it's right or wrong. Remember.....they are brothers......there is a lifetime of conflict not just what happened in Oasis. "There is nothing to miss. One should not be sad that it is over, but just glad that it once was." - Joe Zawinul on the passing of Jaco Pastorius. That's the same way i feel about Oasis.

The egos of those two by that point were unable to coexist in something like a single band. That expressed itself violently. As the Stone roses and The Smiths have themselves showed I don´t think we can expect something like a new album or a tour. At most just Noel and Liam getting together privately as brothers for their family and maybe some sort of public performance together if not just some picture or video where they publicly show they have made peace as brothers

Erm, no mate, people want Oasis back the same as they wanted the Beatles back. After they sl;it they made ok and some great music but was not as good as The Beatles. Both lads have not made great music since the split. Especially Noal whos High Flying Birds are just boring U2 Music

Noel takes the higher ground every single time. I don't think he enjoys this(basically disowning his brother), but a point came when enough was enough and people need to get over it. One day they'll reconcile, but don't expect it to happen anytime soon. Liam can't and won't keep his mouth shut about Noel, so the delay is endless...

Unfortunately working with family can result in bad blood. Works for some but not for others. Oasis fans need to accept that the group are over. The songs will always be there. Noel and Liam are both as stubborn as each other so unless both change it's never going to happen again.

Noel presents it perfectly here actually, he has been vilified by Liam and others for years for leaving and breaking up Oasis. But you could tell something was wrong in those last months/years anyway, the gigs declined in quality and overall enjoyment. He made the right decision I think, I love Oasis but I'm glad Noel went his own way. Now I have NGHFB :)

I know it must have been hard for Liam but I think noel was doing what was best for himself and Liam.
For many years Noel has endured the pain and suffering that is Liam. All he did was leave the band and we have Liam to thank for that.
When you work your ass off and write 98% of the songs and the charismatic frontman gets wasted all day at the pub and gets all the spotlight and glory, I can see how that would piss Noel off.
You wanna know something Noel… and I really hope you read this. I’m 42. Just took my 13 yr old son to hampden to watch Liam. Gonna take him when I get the chance to watch u. But what we really want is to watch yous both together. Think about this: the concert before this break-up moment, Liam didn't even turn up and show did go on, Noel decides not to play and as a result 70.000 people were send home. It is not like Oasis wouldn't been able to survive if Liam would had been kicked out.

He essentially did what kurt cobain meant to do with nirvana. Kurt cobain was going to leave nirvana, and ended being dead, as he was worth more dead then alive. Kurt was going to leave nirvana, and essentially go it alone. Very similar to what noel did in oasis, ie leaving a cash cow, and making it be himself. Kurt cobain was in such a corrupt marriage it cost him his life, as he wanted to walk away from his wifes dreams of being mega rich(nirvana), and go it alone. Kurt cobain was murdered because he wanted to break away from nirvana. At least noel walked away from oasis, and no one had that ill feelings towards him, for throwing away loads of money that oasis would of raked in. Glad oasis split, as really they only existed in 1990s, and that was it. Timing is everything, and good to see both noel, and liam go on solo careers and do there own thing. Oasis is in the past, and they should leave it there. Noel should be glad he was not married to someone like kurt cobain, who killed him for his money and fame, because he wanted out of it, and threw away nirvana cash cow for so many, in seedy hollywood.

It's hard to even understand why oasis was so popular but I think it came down to the fact that the Internet really wasn't up and running to the degree that it is now. I think the music was better than mediocre and when there's nothing else around, of course it's going to be popular.

As much as I love Oasis’s music, there is an arrogance about Noel that I don’t like. I think he was looking for an excuse to leave, the issue about Liam wanting to advertise his clothing label in Oasis’s tour programme seems like a minor grievance that could easily have been sorted out.

@@nigelbevan8449 I thought Oasis were great early on. I saw them in November 95 at Earls Court (the first of 2 nights). Enjoyed the gig. The Morning Glory album had been released a month previously. Wonderwall was the current single at the time. This was the start of it getting massive for Oasis. After this point the Oasis thing got too big. The hype around them grew and grew and the quality of their material was never as consistently good again.......although they still produced some great material right until they split. The Knebworth '96 thing was a huge event - but musically were the band as on it as they were in 94 and 95? I'm not convinced they were. If I was in your shoes at the time I don't think I would have left after 10 minutes even if I thought they had become too big for their boots!!

The time before that when I went to Knebworth, was to see Led Zeppelin back in 1979.... Liam's team of producers wrote his 3 albums, dafuq are you talking about? You don't see Liam singing any Beady Eye songs, do you? (or his own Little James, Songbird or even the excellent I'm Outta Time). Noel wrote all the Oasis hymns, Liam was the voice of the 90s. But hey, at least both are still making music so we get double what we used to.
