What If Abraham SURVIVED! If Abraham Lived in The Walking Dead Season 11! Rick Grimes Returns
One of my all time favourite The Walking Dead characters is Abraham Ford. As soon as he joined the show he was instantly seamlessly funny and loveable. After Eugene revealed he was lying, his story was all about finding another reason to live and when he did, he died for it, sacrificing himself for Sasha, Rick Grimes and the group. Although at the time on paper you could say his story ended well, the show would go on to lose more and more of itself and be affected from losing such characters.
The show could have really done with a character like Abraham in the later seasons and I think there was so much more they could've done with him. So it's finally time to ask the question of what if Abraham survived? In this video I breakdown the entire story from the moment Abraham died in the line up, to the end of the show where the spin-offs started with Daryl Dixon riding off to France (to eventually be reunited with Carol in Daryl Dixon season 2) and Rick Grimes and Michonne would reunite in The Ones Who Live. And here I create my own timeline with Abraham still alive.

@@WiglegTheRealOne i just feel like they didn't get the sweet spot when it came to killing characters, for example in S3, too many characters died, and then towards the end of the show, there has been almost 0 impactful deaths, Abe should've lived at least the initial stages of all out war, maybe die at the end of S7 and not Sasha.

abraham was my dads favorite character and when he died he stopped watching for like 2 weeks not because of glen but because of abraham. When the whisperers came my dad even said “abraham would take down beta easily” 😂 great what if. I always wondered what if Beth survived. As soon as she was getting some good character development, they killed her off which really pissed me off.
She would have probably been on those supply runs with Glenn, Noah and Tara and she would have probably stood by Maggie's side and would have tried to bring peace after Glenn's death and I feel like she would have probably been friends with Denise, Tara, Rosita, Sasha, Enid and Liyda
I have always wanted to see Abraham to fight beta more than Daryl that would have been really cool.
i never realized how many amazing "Abraham should be here instead" moments there actually were.
I honestly think Abraham should have at least lived up until the end of season 8. Killing off Glenn only would have been enough motivation for the group to fight back against the saviors. I feel like Abraham would be more protective of Maggie to honor Glenn in a way to assure Maggie that she's safe with him around. I feel like Abraham would personally go after Negan and help Rick kill or defeat him for the sake of avenging Glenn or actually find common ground with Negan and side with Rick's decision but overall, keep it mutual between Negan and himself just to do so. If not, another scenario could be Abraham dying and sacrificing himself for the group and learning of Sasha's pregnancy before he dies. Although Abraham won't be able to become a father, at least he protected Maggie, enjoyed his time with Sasha, and found a way to assist Rick in the war against the Saviors. Abraham may not be as popular as Glenn, but he sure had more potential, storywise. If Carl Grimes lived, I'd love to see Carl honoring the badass that Abraham was by wearing the same kind of outfit he'd wear, such as a tank top and military pants with gloves. Also, I believe that Carl, nonetheless, would still be looking after Maggie and Hershel Rhee during the timeskip with Enid so he'd be mainly at the Hilltop to become a blacksmith in the same way as the comics. (I'll refrain from further implications of Carl Grimes.) That aside, I just believe Abraham going out like a boss is better than getting Glenn's comic book death and then killing off Glenn on top of that. Because, as many people would say and what I wholeheartedly agree with, Abraham's death was definitely overshadowed by Glenn's. Waste of opportunity, in my opinion.
You never miss with a video, Abe was hands down my favourite character of the show. Abes sacrifice felt so important until glen got the bat too and everyone just forgot about abraham

I’m pretty sure if Abe lived he would have clashed w/ Rick abt dealing w/ Negan right away. Abe would have probably told Rick to man up and take the fight to Negan since Glenn brought Rick back to his family and started it all.
What if Dr. Jenner changed his mind and went with Rick and his people leaving the CDC before it explodes? His conflict with Hershel in Season 2 over the barn situation and Walkers not being alive would be cool, how he’d react to Sophia and Dale’s deaths if they still die having him be indecisive on if he made the right choice, also Jenner meeting Milton and Eugene would’ve been so awesome! Jacqui would also have likely lived but idk what the show would do with her. Jenner is more interesting imo. Jenner would be proud of Rick for finally telling the group everyone is infected. Also Jenner’s interactions with Shane in Season 2 could have been cool because Shane hated Jenner and was very unstable and it would be interesting to see the two agree on some ideals but be opposed on others.
I assume Jacqui would replaced Andrea in Season 2 finale and having Andrea's role in Season 3, Leaving Andrea to evolve into her comic counterpart. And a way to use Jacqui, giving her fitting end wanting to stop bloodshed. And also a nod to Novels if she dated Governor like How Andrea do in Tv canon. (In Rise of Governor novel, Governor's ex-wife is Black lady.)
If the overall goal was get "Jenner" to Washington instead of Eugene that would have been an epic journey even if there was no payoff cure once they got him there

What if Nick Clark joined the whisperers after the Dam instead of reuniting with everyone else (or whatever timeline would fit best for the story) What if Daryl Dixon lead the horde to the bridge instead of Rick. What if the Governor was recruited by Negan into the saviours in between the season 3 to 4 timeskip. What if the Civic Republic found the main group on the road during Season 5

Abraham was my favorite, I think if they had left him in the show it would’ve been amazing. He was made for the zombie apocalypse. Glenn’s death overshadowed his so much and that really upset me because no one was speaking about Abraham dying, just Glenn. Yeah, I liked him and it was sad, but Abraham just brought something different and I missed it.

I definitely think the show did its self a mis serve by eliminating him especially just for the shock value for the viewer thinking Glen was safe for a second. His humour alone was chefs kiss, would of loved if Sasha lived at least long enough to deliver him a child and him being a single dad and having to keep it together and not rampaging to keep his kid safe and for his kid to not fear him like his previous family

I can definitely see that Abe wouldve went straight rogue after Glenn's death. I think He wouldnt have stayed and played Negans game like they did.
Abe just like in the comic should have died in all-out war. Would have been interesting for him to use his past military experience for planning, and executing attacks on the Saviors. As everyone has said below, his death was overshadowed by Glenns death.
That would have made sense to keep Abraham alive on the show beacuse his death in the show just lead to Sasha dying which was another tragic death, I feel like there was so much potential with Abraham imagine him Rick and Daryl becoming a trio just like how Negan had Simon and Dwight

What if Francine survived What if Deanna survived What if Hershel survived What if the France resistance joins the Coalition/Commonwealth? What if PADRE (now MADRE in honor of Madison) joins the Coalition?
If Shane lives,(If Lori had let him be there for Judith instead of telling him he couldn't be her father) he's likely firm as Rick's right-hand man, and speeds up Rick's transformation a bit more, while adding extra capability during the Woodbury conflict. Maybe even helping Rick keep his hand. He'd probably be on Michonne and Tyreese's side and either help steer Rick in that direction or Join them on their attempted sneak attack on Woodbury, giving an extra body to take out the guard who got off the warning shot that got Tyreese caught, potentially Assassinating the Governor then, or at least making a bigger dent in the Woodbury forces while securing a more likely escape with his marksmanship. Which would have weakened the Governor's forces or took him out outright, getting the heavy hitters like Rick, Shane, Tyreese, Andrea and Herschel out of the conflict in 1 piece. Shane, Tyreese, and Andrea(if she made it past the Woodbury arch and followed the comic more to end up as "Sniper chick" like Sasha) Give the crew a lot more capability with the addition of Abraham, Rosita, Jesus, Heath and The Kingdom heading into the conflict with the Saviors and I think that would be enough to keep Abraham alive, if for no other reason than Shane's there as Rick's right hand, to catch Negan's beatdown. If Shane lives other strong characters live and the group get's more "Proactive" in their defense. A couple former soldiers like Shane & Abraham probably hit it off too. I know the show would have been a bit less dramatic with fewer impactful deaths, but I also think if Shane/Abraham is there in the cemetery Jesus isn't holding off the walkers by himself to get snuck by the whisperer. Surprise or not, Jesus of ALL People in the show had the best reaction time and there is no way he doesn't react to the "walker" dodging his slash. In the case of Abraham and Jesus(Biblical tag Team) fighting off the walker I don't think the Whisperer moves in to risk the attack, and they're instead alerted to what the Whisperer are when they see a "Walker" retreat. It also would have been cool to see a former NFL Linebacker VS a former NBA player if Tyreese lived until the Whisperer war.

I have a what if Andrea didn’t separate from the group at the end of Season 2 Season 2 I think that if Andrea didn’t separate she would help the group clear the walkers in the prison courtyard. Michonne would still check the crash site of the helicopter and she would be taken to Woodbury Meanwhile in the Prison, T-Dog would die devoured by walkers and Lori would still die in childbirth and then Glenn and Maggie wouldngo out to look for baby formula and they would be taken in by Merle. Michonne would arrive to the prison with the baby formula and she would tell the group that Glenn and Maggie were taken by Woodbury. Rick would take Daryl and Andrea to Woodbury to back him up. Oscar stays in the prison to help Hershel, Carol and they would rescue Glenn and Maggie Most of the season would go fairly the same until instead of Andrea, some Woodbury character would arrive to the prison to tell Rick to meet the governor which would lead to the episode arrow to the doorpost which would end fairly the same with Merle dying and the Governor fleeing but with certain differences such as (Andrea is alive and well and Oscar is also alive) Season 4 The first half of season 4 would remain hardly unchanged, Andrea and Oscar would mostly be with Daryl’s crew looking for medical supplies and by now Oscar has become a hardened survivor and trusty member of Rick’s prison community. I could see Oscar taking Tyreese’s role from the comics where Andrea teaches him how to shoot and making him a badass During the battle in the Prison I could see Oscar, Tyreese Andrea and Carol being together and eventually the terminus events happen after Rick, Daryl and Michonne kill the Claimers. The group is even larger now with Andrea and Oscar being around. After the whole Grady Memorial Hospital arc we head to Alexandria. I’m just going to say that Tyreese survives here because I feel his death was dumb and pointless. We head to Alexandria where Tyreese becomes part of the construction crew next to Abraham. The events of no way out happen and Alexandria manages to triumph over the walkers. Eventually the Rick and Daryl run into Jesus and also Rick and Andrea hook up like itbwas originally planned and the saviors arc begins and the satelite outpost massacre happens like normal. I’ll just skip to the part of the lineup. The line up is made by Glenn, Daryl, Rosita, Abraham, Rick, Carl, Aaron, Maggie, Sasha, Andrea, Tyreese, Oscar and Eugene I think Negan would kill the physically strongest member of Rick’s group to demoralize everyone, and I think that the physically strongest member was Tyreese, so yeah… Tyreese is a goner here, but Abraham would survive. I think Tyreese’s death would get the point across to everyone that Negan isn’t messing around. They knew Tyreese for longer and he was one of Rick’s right hand men so his death would mean much more to the group, so not only does Abraham survives, but also Glenn. Tyreese would be buried in Hilltop and I think Rick woukd be more pissed off rather than scared here. Only one person died and his son was threatened by Negan, and he would start planning out the war much sooner. I’ll skip to the battle of Alexandria where Andrea takes a lead in killing savior after savior. The war begins and we can take two paths here. Either Andrea is at Alexandria when Carl goes out to search for Saddiq or she goes to the war and Carl still gets bitten and dies… I’ll go with option N1. Andrea is stationed at Alexandria to keep the community safe and she catches Carl trying to sneak out and she goes with him to help Saddiq since Andrea is basically Carl’s Step mom now. Eventually they find Saddiq and they help him clear the walkers and Andrea helps Carl befire he gets bit saving him. Carl still gets injured during the explosions in Alexandria and his last words before he passes out are “your mercy should prevail over your wrath”. Carl is comatosed (similar to Rick) and at the end Rick slashes Negan’s throat and the war ends Season 9 I believe that Andrew Lincoln was pissed off about how Carl got killed off the show and also how the quality of the show had gone down, so here Andrew Lincoln would stay simply because Carl is still around The bridge rebuilding arc story happens like normal. Maggie isn’t vengeful because Glenn is still alive and everyone just doesn’t really care about Negan anymore, he’s just another mouth to feed I believe that Rick’s group would deal with the herd of walkers and finish the bridge. The Sanctuary would still fall, it was a place full of… well, not good people, things would go down eventually and the communities would take in many of the Savior workers. Eventually during the timeskip Carl and Enid would get together and Enid would become pregnant with Carl’s child (let’s face it, Enid was comic Sophia’s replacement). Their son would be called Rick Jr which fits The Whisperer arc would happen and Henry would take Carl’s role with Lydia. Daryl would still fight Beta and most of the whisperer arc happens like normal, but instead of Henry’s head on the pike we see Connie’s sister instead and instead of Enid we see Rosita’s head. This would get Abraham riled up for the war which would eventually begin. Negan would kill Alpha and the rest of the war would go pretty much the same. Except Glenn, Andrea and Oscar are still around. The reapers arc can be skipped and we move on to the commonwealth arc. Andrea takes Rosita’s place in the commonwealth army. Eventually the rest if the commonwealth arc continues with Pamela’s son’s death (won’t even bother with his name) and once they take back Alexandria, Rick tells everyone in his group that they won’t be safe until they take out Pamela. They travel on train to the Commonwealth and Judith gets shot, Rick swears he’ll take revenge on Pamela, but Carl tells Rick what he promised and Rick agrees and Judith gets better. Rick gives his “we are not the Walking Dead” speech and he lets in the people of the commonwealth and the plan to kill the walkers starts. At the end the States blow up and Rick and his group celebrates. Rick and Mercer become the new leaders of the commonwealth and Daryl the new recruiter of the Commonwealth. Rick lives a happy life married to Andrea instead of Michonne, Oscar enjoys a life of freedom in the commonwealth, Carol takes over Lance’s role, Glenn and Maggie live happy in the Hilltop, Jerry rebuilds the Kingdom and Carl and Enid raise their kid in the Commonwealth. Carl puts down his hat and gun deciding to live a life of peace from now on. Judith gets the hat and Carl’s gun setting up a possible spinoff with her. The End

Beth and Tyrese survive season 5 Beth gets killed by Dwight in 6x14 instead of Denise Tyrese and Maggie perish in 7x01 instead of Abe and Glenn. Take out the ocean side and trash ppl entirely and make the war start in season 7 rather than 8. Spencer death in like ep 7x5 Sasha dies 7x8 rather than 7x16 Eugene still a traitor War starts 7x9 War ends early in season 8. Carl survives and it’s Morgan who doesn’t make it out. Rick Carl Dwight and maybe sherry stay. Time jump Whisperer arc happens exactly like it does in the comics ( Carl beating those kids and getting locked up and meeting Lydia, Rick v alpha, etc) Magnas group does not exist at all except for Connie. (Only good character from that group) Pike scene is same except Henery is replaced by Ezekiel (Henry doesn’t exist) Carol gets Andrea comic death Commonwealth happens except without reapers and princess Condense arc to 14 episodes Rick still dies Carl survives and marries Lydia cuz Enid died I. Everything you said up to 1:50 was PERFECTLY said. Everyone was so focused and broken on Glenn dying they completely forgot about Abraham. I think EITHER he or Glenn should've died, not both
