This video is to show you how to get a clean rim on your tumbler every time!!
Thank you for watching and like always, if you have any recommendations or any suggestions... please let me know!! 🥂
If you put a plastic or styrofoam cup inside your cup when you spray paint it won’t get inside your cup. We repurpose cups from fast food restaurants. Works like a charm😉
You are so right,I do it all the time.
I do the same thing lol
Great thinking! Thank you.
Omg that's genius!!
I do the same thing!
Thanks so much!! Your videos have some of the most concise and best tips out there!
Thank you for another great video. I am new to glittering tumblers and I tried this with my most recent tumbler. It worked perfectly!
Thank you sharing ! Best video on how to clean up epoxy!
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I did. Just wasn't sure if it was right or if it would last for my customer. 😘❣
What?! Genius! I have been looking for this answer! Thank you.
Thank you. I hadn't seen anyone else talk about how to clean up.
Just what I needed to know Thankyou.
Another excellent tutorial. Thank you!
AMAZING! Thank you for this tip!
Ahh good to see how to clean up and I also follow clay time to play tv so awesome to see the person who made the tumblers
When you remove the seal does it allow water to get between the tumbler and the design?
Carol's tumbler is gorgeous! You did a beautiful job on it. Thank you so much for this video. I am always terrified to clean my rims. Your expectations helped a lot.
Jackie Hall Thank you so much!!!! I plan on doing a tutorial on how I designed this tumbler!! ☺️
This helps me tremendously as my rims are always bumpy, but do you have a video for the bottoms? I also have lumpy bottoms! No matter how much I sand, I can never get a smooth end! 😊 thanks for these videos!!
This is great! Thank you sooo much.
Thank you for this video maybe now I won’t be so leery to do make a cup all the way up to the rim.
Thanks, tried it and it worked. I normally tape the inside with the sticky side facing out.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you. This just really helped me.
Thank you so much for this video.
Very helpful. Thank you
Thx so much for the video loved it 😊
wonderful video! Thank you so much.
Your tumblers came out beautiful! Is there a place where u buy your cups in bulk? Thanks
Worked like a dream!!!!;)
Have you ever had any issue with breaking that seal accidentally? I did my husband's cup this way and it didnt last. So I was just curious as to how long you've been doing this method and if you've had any issues as of yet, or is it too soon to tell?
OMG! You are a lifesaver Lady! Thank you so much. I have been sanding and doing like 3 coats of epoxy to get a smooth rim. Any secret tips for the rough spots on the bottom edge?
Did you figure it out?
Frances Degrazia yes I did! Sand, sand, sand!
Take your index finger and smooth the bottom. Then let it turn.
Can you use food safe resin instead of epoxy? Thanks.
Thank you!
Thank you what if the cups still have the smell?
Thank you so much for all your videos. You are very thorough in explaining everything. Can you do a tutorial on how you made this galaxy cup?
sassyscrapper1 Thank you!!! And I am planning on making another tumbler like this this week! I will make a tutorial! 🥰
Miss Kiss Kreations I scraped and cleaned it but the lip is still rough where I can’t put my lips on it. Should I sand? I’m afraid to break the seal.
Forget scraping the tumbler.. I’d be scared I would cut myself lol. Then it’ll be a different clean up lmao!! But running 🏃♂️ to try this. Thanks!!!!!!!!
Hahaha. Yes. It is nerve racking to me, still!
What type glitter do you use?
Thank you
How long it took to dry
thanks so much for this. How do you not cut/scratch up the coating on the tumbler when removing on top and rim?
Practice makes perfect I guess. Make sure your blade pressure is pressed towards the inside of the tumbler. Not the outside, so the blade doesn’t slip
I just asked myself this question. Wow.
I was wondering that too. Isnt that breaking the seal?
How do you wash these tumblers once you start using them?
Thank you. Why did I keep thinking this was going to be harder?
If you lay the handle of the knife opposite of the side you are cutting, and just spin the cup with your free hand, you'll never have a slip accident either cutting your cup or yourself.
Can you tape the very top before adding design, then remove tape during final epoxy stage & seal in design? Essentially leaving a very small ring on top without design but still locking it in with epoxy.
Yes. Make sure you remove the tape before the epoxy is dried or it will be stuck to the epoxy
So the goal is to have a stainless steel look all the way around the top rim where the lid sits? I'm scared it will break seal and the water will get behind everything and lift.....
I also bought a tumbler with some glitter powder. What can I use to stick them on it? thank you
Epoxy
Great videos! Just started out. Can white chalk spray paint be used as the foundation?
Thank you!!! And I’ve never used it before to be honest. Worth the try!
@@MissKissKreations I'll let you know lol
if you add tape at the top so you have some space where the epoxy doesnt touch how do you avoid the harsh edge when you remove the tape? im doing a ceramic mug and theres a definite line from where the epoxy ends and the ceramic begins? can i get rid of that? any tips on what i could do to avoid in the future?
Maybe sanding lightly will help
Glad I saw this .. I worry my rim is to thick on top .. is that a problem
It shouldn’t be. Just do that process And it so come right off. May take some extra muscle, but it’ll be fine
If all my expiry is cleaned off but the lip is still rough what do I do? Do I sand and do ANOTHER layer of epoxy?
Yes. Sand lightly. Re epoxy
When you do a bottle style what do you use to hold it onto the Turner? The regular tumblers I use a pool noodle but a friend wants a bottle style and I can’t figure out how to make it fit the Turner
Crystal Williams I don’t epoxy bottle size. But, I would use bubble wrap or a rag. Take your pipe and tape bubble wrap or a rag around until you have tour size correct
Ace bandages work great. Not the cloth one but the stretchy self adhesive rubber like one. You can wrap ther pole until you get the snug fit you want. 😘
@@datladee thanks for the tip!!
Hello your cups are amazing! Thank you for this. I have asked this question on several other pages with no reply. I do have a question also. Can you tape the inside of it? I'm assuming you will still have to use the knife to cut it. That noise though gives me chills. To me it sounds like nails on a chalk board. That's why I'm asking about the tape. Like painters tape.
LaDonna Horton a lot of people use electrical tape
A lot of people use electrical tape
I use masking tape let it turn for 30 min then take tape off and wrap a baby wipe around my index finger and clean the inside of the rim.
Hi, I’m really struggling with the rim of the cup mine just aren’t sealing. Are you not breaking the seal while scraping the excess off the lip? Does it all have to do with angle? Is there any epoxy on the lip left at all after you scrape it?
Try sanding the rim as well. Sand towards the tumbler a tiny bit. Then epoxy over again to get a good seal. Hope this helps
I have a problem of the top and bottom edges being rough almost as if there was not enough epoxy to cover it even though I put plenty I have tried sanding it down then add more epoxy but the same problem any suggests?
Have you figured it out yet? I put enough epoxy on. I rub the cup up-and-down constantly I make sure it's fully coated and yet I still have a rough lip around the cup and bottom
Cut the foam away from the top. Cut away 3/4 of an inch inside the top of the cup.
Is it safe to drink from the cup with the epoxy on it? If you remove the lid and put your mouth directly on the cup is it safe? I’ve been a little concerned.
Yes, once it's cured it's fine to drink from.
If you heat your exacto knife it’s cuts through easier
Hey there here girl how do you do the inside of a cup an keep it clean where there isn't so much work + epoxy screws my mind up thanks there gal by the way iam 70 àn I do not know every thing but I do know to listen
You can place some patroleum jelly in the inside. Epoxy repels it
How did you donthe galaxy look love it
Thank you!!! I have a galaxy video here: kzhead.info/sun/nbqEotKJgX-pdnk/bejne.html
Could you PLEASE tell me where to get footballs from? I have looked everywhere and cannot fine where to buy them!
Dollar Tree
Yes from dollar tree! They are the ones with the black foam tube and wings coming out one end. It pops right out!
🤯 what?!?!! This whole time I've been avoiding epoxy anywhere near the lip 😅
It’s actually better to push some inside all the way around and make a solid ring in there .. than it is to have just tiny bits here & there. By making one slit (from lower inside to the upper inside) and then the whole thing will usually pop out in one piece 😁. If not in one piece a little push n pull and it’s popping off. For me anyways.. trying to get those tiny bits is a pain ✌️
@@debrajol3585 thank you for the insight!
I’ve also been told that by putting a thin layer of Vaseline/petroleum jelly inside the rim ..or the rim and a few inches down.. that nothing sticks including the spray paints. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m buying the petroleum jelly now that I’m thinking about it again. 👌 Happy Arting!! 🌹💯🤩
@@debrajol3585 I bought tumbler shields, which sit on the inside of the cup....they work AWESOME for spray paint and their supposed to also work when doing your epoxy, but I always forget to disconnect after a few minutes of spinning. Either way they are a great product and the best be part is that they are silicone, so nothing sticks!
What about plastic tumblers?
👍🏽
Do you have a tip for wine glasses or wine tumblers? Because the shape of the cup the foam sits on the rim while it spins so the epoxy is super jagged and has an uneven seal to clean up. I’ve been struggling with that. Thanks for this video it helped a lot!
I sat my cup on the foam and took a marker and marked around it. Took cup off then drew another line 3/4 of an inch in then cut the foam off. When my wine cups are on the foam it comes within 3/4 of an inch from the top.
Hi! What I should do to prevent fisheyes?
Hey there! I have a video how how to prep a tumbler! Check it out 😊
Can you let the epoxy cure for more than 8 hours? I have a feeling mine will be sitting for at least 16 hours before I can get to it. How long should it be turning for?
That is completely fine :)
If Epoxy is already toxic doesn’t letting it get inside the cup not safe even if you clean the rim?
Once the epoxy cures it's not toxic.
I know I'm a year late, but I'd love to know how you made that cup.
Spray paint and sponge dabbing probably.
Check out my galaxy tumbler tutorial I believe it may be linked in the description too
I made and get Nick on at went i take white thing out the glitter tumbler as nd nick the glitter on at so had put litter mod podge on at touch up with a little white glitter on at and i get dump on how get that off ? I never made glitter tumbler
I’m sorry, but I don’t understand your comment.
Can you put like vaseline on the inside?
You sure can!
I have a suggestion, maybe you could consider audio equipment. I’ve noticed I’m having to raise and lower the volume throughout your videos to hear you. Then the next video I watch is super loud bc I’ve had to raise the volume so much lol . You have great ideas and I want to be able to hear them properly!
What kind of epoxy do you use
It is listed in the description
What's the best epoxy to use?? I'm wanting to make my kids some tumblers but I'm not sure what's the best one to use :/ please help!!!
I use Amazing Clear Cast. You can find this on their website or at Michaels. There are so many epoxys to chose from, make sure the epoxy you use is FDA approved.
Why Dawn dish liquid? Why not another dish detergent?
Just what I prefer. Any dish soap would work 🙂
I think U just create a galeary sky stars 💫 purple one
How about cleaning off fingerprints on the outside of the tumbler
Okay.
Thank you for the tips! Not gonna lie though, the audio of the knife scraping the rim is cringey lol
do you think taking your design all the way to the edge is better for creating a long lasting seal. I've only ever left a gap at the top of my cups, but I can literally take a blunt object and peel my design completely off especially on glitter cups. This is even after a week of sitting.
Abigail Felder Good Question. I’ve had some of my tumblers for over a year and never has my designed peeled. To me, I’ve perfected my tumbler not peeling off my tumbler. Maybe you are cutting the epoxy too low or not at the right angle. Maybe the epoxy is too thin? Leaving a gap is perfectly fine, it’s whichever way you prefer and most comfortable with
Ms. Kiss Kreations thank you so much for your tips. I’ll watch more of your videos to figure out how to perfect my epoxy skills
