Well boys I think I found a unicorn over here in Florida! I'm going to go look at a 99 E300! Wish me luck! I want one of these engines so bad. The car is in really really nice shape with absolutely no flaws inside or out exterior for the little black skirt underneath the rear bumper. At 8k I think it's viable. Again wish me luck.

The exit of the air box goes to the left but in a 200tdi the intake is on the right. That also being the hole in the wing and the snorkel is fitted on the right. Do you do any sort of kit you sell to move it

It looks a nice set up but can it handle 46 + degree in the out back of Australia. Will that motor up against a 4.5 lt twin turbo landcurise or 4.2 lt turbo landcurise. Motor will last 20000 miles

I'm a fan of the om606 but the om642 cam in the commander for you guys. I want to diesel swap my commander but I'm figuring the om642 would be easier to swap since it came as an option everywhere except the states. Any advice?
Hi, do you do any engine system that would go into a Land rover discovery 4? Failing that, do or could you make a replacement crank for the factory motor as the ones used from factory are piss poor weak and fail all to often. Many thanks in advance.

I have a 606 In a gwagon thst i was given the body is far beyond saving. Of My Td5 gives up in my 110 this will be going in. Just his 200k last month and still running like new though .

Cheers for sharing this. All thing beings equal, which is more complex and costly to do? An M57 swap or the OM606?
I didn't make the cost list of both, but I am planning to swap my Mitsubishi pajero with the om606 over the m57 because 1) it's cheaper in my country, (500€+-) and 2)no electronic needed which is a very difficult part if like me don't know how work on it
606 pricy to buy and parts needed for it are pricy installs but probably easier. M57 theres so many diffrent choices to make about the install that price is really variable. I went with the earlier engine as wireing is easier. It only takes 9 wires from body to ecu and 5 of them are the pedal. Theres plenty of standalone options aswell to make it even easier.

Sorry for parading my ignorance. Does this engine have any can-bus electronic control and if so how does it interface with that old style vehicle. I've seen people fitting a modern engine into an old chassis and the software issues have been massive and more problems than all the mechanical aspects put together. Nice looking job by the way.
Mechanical injection = no electronics required
Well you need power plus exciter wire for the starter and you need power feed plus exciter for the alternator but not the same exciter wire. Oh and also sensors for oil pressure and oil temp and water temp, maybe a tach if you fancy, that will come off the alternator if you buy one from Luke. That is if your running electrical gauges. Hope that helps.

I've been dreaming of putting one in my 95 Discovery. I've heard different things. Will the ZF 4hp22 automatic transmission handle the 300 horsepower? Also, am I able to request a specific year of motor manufacture? I live in California and cannot install a motor newer than my original one to pass the emission standards.
that is interesting, i would have expected it to be the other way around where you couldn't install an older engine? wonder what the logic there is.
@@uliwehner Well, for starters, its California. In order for me to do the swap, diesel has to have been an original factory option and the engine can't be newer than the year of my vehicle. There are hoops you have to jump through and its a hassle, but it is possible. Other options are is to put in a Land Rover diesel, which I hear can be boosted up decently, and putting a Cummins4bt in it, which was my original plan until I learned of the Mercedes engines.
@@westernwanderer8397 the 4 bt is massively heavier. They do make the power with the right parts. Power driven diesel has a video of the dyno session of a 4bt in a Ford excursion. 435 hp and almost 1000lbs torque

I don’t have a 500HP version, I only have an 680HP version. 500HP you can do that all day with stock pistons. Well until you run out of fuel. Only time I’ve ever seen a piston failure is if the injector has problems or your rings weren’t properly gapped for the intended use. Like injector constantly dumps fuel and never shuts off. Unless your putting it in an airplane why would it be wide open for long durations of time?

Hi love your vids the 606 is certainly the daddy when it comes to diesel engines however with you working a bit with darkside performance have you ever thought of doing a conversion kit for the vw 1.9 pd engine for landrover The prima diesel out of the montego was a popular swap for the series landys and the pd has alot more potential than one of them be interested to see your thoughts on this? Keep posting great vids👍

@@beeftec5862 Beccause they have a business to run and not just sit there on social media like some of yous 24/7🤦. A business will not thrive just off uploading videos😂 The guy has a family look after, customer projects, dyno testing, part testing, designing entirely new components, finding new ways to make conversions easier. Pretty easy to tell he's flat out working and living life. Be grateful he uploads videos otherwise 50%+ of people who like Mercedes diesels would be severely uneducated. You wouldn't know how busy it is owning a business until you've owned one yourself. Your lack of thought is quite amazing.
The VW 1.9 is a very popular swap into many different vehicles so finding the swap gear for those is super easy. I.E. my 92’ Suzuki Sidekick has 1.9 swapped in with an M5R1 Ford trans n T-case, that market is over saturated with people building swap kits. Luke’s busy building OM605/606 swap stuff which I only know of 1 other company currently building swap kits for those motors and only know of 1 guy building 8.5mm mechanical pumps, he even produces a billet pump housing which is freakin sick!!!

Sadly, these motors and their associated conversions have become way too expensive. Back top sticking with what we already have. Luke, HTFU and do up the VP44 pumps and stop hanging on the ZD30 hate.
