Love it! I'm so excited for you! And to watch you transform it over time. One suggestion. Since Romeo does laundry for his work and you don't like laundry in the bedroom. What if that is Romeos office? He would have clothes storage. Then, take one of the upstairs bedrooms for the master. The upstairs bedrooms provide closet room for both you and Romeo. It is next to the nursery one day. It's not ideal not to have an on suite and things always feel different in person, so it may not actually work. But something to think about. Also then you can enjoy going up the stairs every night for bed. And enjoy the stairs every morning too.

Yes! Especially since once you have a baby someday you won’t want to be that far away once they don’t sleep in the same room.

This makes me "homesick" for my childhood home in Santa Monica, which was an adorable 1930s pale pink stucco bungalow with a rose garden. I was really young when we lived there in the 1970s, but I remember so much about it. Looked it up and it was torn down and now it's a multi-million dollar home built up the property boundary lines. :(
I’m so incredibly excited for you and Romeo! My husband and I have also been together for nearly 14 years (this may!) we bought our first home last October 2021 - a 1930’s southern bungalow (with original windows!!) and had our first child this past June. I’ve been following your channels since you started your first house hunt and I have admired our parallels in every way {hard core thrifter here}! You’re accomplishments with your home have been such an inspiration and I can’t wait to see your family life unfold. I feel like you’re a dear friend and I just have all the love in my heart for you guys! ❤❤❤ I wish you all the luck and happiness (and none of the morning sickness 😅) as you step into this new chapter!
I totally see the "formal living room" as the dining room and making the current dining room a cool butlers pantry with a bunch of storage In it. Super happy for you guys!! Congratulations and here's to new beginnings!

THIS IS ALL SO EXCITING!! Ok! You should consider knocking down the wall between the dining room and kitchen so you can get all the light and view from the windows and it would make you kitchen feel bigger and you can still have a long dining table. Just an idea!!! Can’t wait to watch what you do to the house🎉

I thought the same, and the downstairs bath would be more practical (and accessible; walking through an office rather than someone’s private bedroom is so much less awkward), for visitors. The upstairs could then be the family sanctuary. 😌

MaCenna, that house is a DREAM. I could go on and on, but I think that just sums it up…a dream. My favorite part is the back yard. I would clear out the section up the brick walk and make it a hammock hidden in a flower garden situation. ❤️congrats!
Such a beautiful house! As a mother of two, and just a suggestion, I would eventually make the upstairs bedroom your primary instead of diy room. You’ll want to be next to the nursery, trust me on that. Also for a brick floor on the bottom would make for a better office and diy room.

By the time the baby is old enough to be out of their bedroom, the little half-floor to get there isn't a big deal, in my opinion (I'm also a mom). It works differently for every family, though. Personally, I'd take the on-suite bathroom ANY day as well 😋😋
100 percent would do this makes sense for bedrooms to be upstairs and the office downstairs x

Ok, I just gotta say, turn the dinning room into a butlers pantry and then turn your formal living room into the new dining room. That way you get a pantry and more room for your dinning room 😊
Oh and put a bar cart where the breakfast nook is, that will free up some cabinet and counter space 😊

when you said that there could be a nursery i just cried. i’m a new mom, we bought our flat while i was pregnant and i know the feeling, when you know that there is finally space for your child, their own safe space, just for them to fill with joy and love. Wow... this storybook cottage is my dream home. So cozy, with all the windows and bump outs... the stairway, the brick floors. I can't wait for this journey. I will live vicariously through you! I would move in, make it feel like home, and take awhile to just be one with the universe. We can wait for all the updates later!! Take time to smell the roses. Also in the little kitchen, space near the back door, I could see a tall bar table with two stools. Small footprint,, enough for coffee and breakfast with Romeo. This home is beyond charming!!!

California out did itself when it built these 1930’s homes. Warm, cozy, vintage, yet contemporary feel and so inviting and open to the outdoors. I thought the same thing. I’m over in Santa Barbara county and I have a similar backyard. It’s a bit of paradise in the middle of the city. So beautiful. Just waiting for the right touch. I can totally see little ones playing hide n seek or making a fort over in the hidden tree area where the stairs are. So cute!

I thought that also. Yet, you keep your baby in your room until they sleep through the night and move to own room. A baby monitor solves that issue. It is when they are toddlers that being upstairs and parents down can be a problem.

It fits your personality so well I am so happy for y’all!🥹🥹idk if the wall between the kitchen & dining room is structural or not but if it were me, I’d knock that down and make a larger kitchen then you could always add a pantry! And then use the informal living room/family room as the dining room!

We moved into a smaller home and have a pool for the first time. It’s expensive to maintain, but after almost 4 years of no vacations because of COVID, the pool makes this home (our only home) a vacation home. We use it a lot and our daughters and daughter-in-law love to come visit and hang out around (and in) the pool. It’s also lovely to just sit by it and have the water soothe and calm us. Macenna and Romeo are going to love it!

Macenna, I am so happy for you both! I KNEW there would be a new home reveal after the holidays - I suspected it when your mom came to visit you in LA!! The house is stunning!! Would you think about having the office downstairs in the Master and having your master bedroom upstairs where you plan to have the office? The reason being, when you start a family, you will want your bedroom to be as close to the nursery as possible? It would make the upstairs the sleeping suite and naturally divide the home. Also the dinning room could be turned into a pantry with downstairs powder room?? Just my thoughts, but I know whatever you do with the home will be so special! X

That’s a huge plus for me. I really like the little panes in the windows and doors, so cute. It gives me warm storybook vibes. @@XOMaCenna MaCenna, I have a kind of crazy but yet awesome idea for that space up behind the lemon trees... what if in one corner you cleared it out and you put a hot tub with a wire-like or metal gazebo type of thing over it that vines can grow up and over it. You could add fairy lights, maybe some pretty hanging outside ornaments! It would be like a private little whimsical oasis and still have room on the other side for a little herb garden! Just some thoughts... love your home and I'm so happy for you! It's truly a beautiful place and I know you will make it even more so!
