  • As someone who’s around 500 ELO, I feel like the talent pool is all over the place. Some people play like 200, some play like 1000. To say “there no chance a 500 sees this” feels a bit unfair, I’ve seen moves like these made on both ends fairly commonly.

      @benjaminford1067@benjaminford10679 ай бұрын
    • @@benjaminford1067there 100% is different below 1000 elo like 500 is way better than 300 and 700 is way better than 500 and think is sometime 500 can play like 1000 sometimes they play like 200 but 700 is way more consitent

      @meraj5393@meraj53936 ай бұрын
    • I agree. 5-600 range in bullet, in particular, is far west. People don't do "normal" openings: they apply tricks and traps. Levy was lucky in finding the total newbie. As a 1.2k ELO in rapid, I had to struggle a lot (and to learn some "safe" openings) to reach at least 700, where matches start to become "normal".

    • I’m around 400 and yeah it often feels like those “there’s no way a *blank* sees this” moves are usually like No I could totally see that. Would I always in a game? No, but could I? Yeah easily. Half the time it comes down to whether my eyes wandered to that side of the board to spot it in the first place, lol

      @tommykarrick9130@tommykarrick91305 ай бұрын
    • Yeah this statement was crazy to me. 400 might miss it, but 500s will certainly see that move more often than not.

  • It's so strange- being a player around 500 elo, to watch this and see all these mistakes, but when playing, it genuinely feels like my opponents, and myself to an extent, are playing at a much higher level than this. I guess that's the difference between playing and watching.
