It seems strange to call out Harry turning away from the conversation between Peter and his father. He explains it himself shortly after: "He pretty much wants to adopt you" Harry didn't check out bc he was a sim. He checked out bc he had nothing to contribute to their conversation and his jealousy was making him uncomfortable. That's a pretty consistent part of his character.
bro is defending this movie like its paying him
@@isaacmartinez2359 damn dude he wrote a pretty good explanation for one scene in a movie, not even pouring his heart out for this defence, he's not being paid shit (I apologise I'm getting paid to defend this guy)
@@isaacmartinez2359 reasoning seems well though
@@Aryan-qv5qk you can make up reason all you want, just like how I can make up reasons on what they could have had Harry do instead of mentally check out - Say “ill catch you inside” - Wave to friends and join them - Say bye to his father and let him talk to Peter - have a teacher call his name My point, as well as the video’s in making this off hand comment is that Harry is not need for the scene. He serves no purpose other than to make a way too formal introduction for a new character, which you could have done and then promptly leave the screen so he doesn’t take up room in the frame, or just be there on set as long in general. Is this an egregious sin? No. It’s more likely just a result of the script not taking into consideration how it would look in person for this conversation to have happened. It’s a trivial joke to make fun of the movie for. Which is why I found it weird that someone would go out of their way to defend when there are plenty of other points for someone to make about this semi-critique video. I find that Rami fans always do this, they often defend points that don’t need to be defended because they are just facts about how the movies are. They’ll get mad about others pointing out how corny the movie can be despite later saying that it is the appeal for them.
@@isaacmartinez2359 except this actually does make sense to the context of the movie
My favorite part of this review is that it triggered so many people that Cosmonaut still gets comments calling him a disney shill on almost every Spider-Man review of his to this day almost 5 years later. That's the kind of engagement money can't buy
The comment right below yours is exactly that, god that's funny.
I mean I don't know if he's any of those things, I just think some of his critiques are bad and almost approaching a cinemasins video level of criticism quality.
@@Asiniesi mean this video is basically bait anyway its funnier to read some of the raimi fans in the comments going apeshit than to rewatch the video

I mean he gets points completely wrong. Like mad that Aunt May didn’t automatically forgive Peter after saying “Im responsible for what happened too”. That’s his most egregious one. That and misremembering scenes (Peter wasn’t walking to school he was going after MJ after see dad berrated her). And he uses all this as evidence of the “new” (aka Disney) movies are better. Anyone can make a bad review to bait people into getting mad, but that doesn’t somehow mean the mad people are wrong.

At the beginning of his Andrew Garfield video, he talks about those movies compared to these and he says these ones are a lot better.
I agree with Marcus. I fucking love these movies _because_ of how corny and cheesy they are, and how they don't take themselves too seriously. I feel like they perfectly capture the feel of the Spiderman comics - just non-stop campy fun with moments of quote-on-quote "serious" dialogue that in retrospect sounds corny and is tonally consistent with the rest of the story.

@@r.pizzamonkey7379 Sam Raimi's Aunt May was perfect and Rosemary captured the character perfectly from the comics. Aunt May now doesn't even look like a Aunt.
I think we have to remember that these movies are based off of comics. The campiness works. The movies back then had the heart & soul of the comics with the campiness included. Now it seems like they are made on an assembly line using a formula. They’ve lost the campiness too…and replaced it with bad jokes.
It doesn’t always work though that’s what he’s saying. It’s so distracting at sone points you forget some scenes should be tense, it can get to be way too much through this series and it didn’t work 100%
It's not campy because it's based off the comics, it's campy because that's just Sam Raimi's style. He's always been known for making silly low/mid budget movies
Back to formula?

Well MJ was like that in the comics too, so is not Raimi's film in particular apparently.
Don't talk about Spiderman 3, please?...
If she can leave someone for you, then she can leave for someone too.
@jimmy just jeremy Peter wasn't there for her. Just like everything else in his life he put the city above his own priorities. She deserved better, even if he was a good man. Sometimes things just don't work. It's selfish to expect a woman to stay loyal to a man she never sees, one who seems to have no investment in her life. Peter in many ways rejected Mary Jane before she cut it off. He was the one who wasn't loyal. These are the realities of adult life.
@@dehlanshandirkayr6182 I don't agree. Relationships should be more solid. I just thing that circumstantially she looks like a ho because two relationships in a row didn't work for her.

@@robl0xgamer258 I don't think it's regarded as perfect, a lot of people just prefer it cause of the underlying themes that are in between the bad parts of the film. The themes are highloghted and a lot of people can relate to Peter in these films. MCU spiderman isn't bad, but he seems perfect. He doesn't have to live a life in secret, he doesn't have to divide his identty to save his loved ones from his enemies, I don't even see his identity being figured out in FFH a disadvantage cause a lot of people will look up to him like How Tony was being Iron man. The Raime films were just about a boy making the hard decision in life to keep his loved ones safe.
When he randomly cut to “punch me I bleeed” I just out of no where erupted in laughter

Because he’s straight up wrong at some points. His whole “aunt may is a jerk” part is literally missing all the context of the scenes he talks about lol. When he says she’s a dick, the scene he shows in the background is legit her giving Peter money when her house is about to be foreclosed
- Watch a Raimi film - Complain that it's too cheesy What's next water is too wet for your taste?
I feel like you're one of those people who take cinema sins seriously
seto kaiba There's a very clear difference between this and Cinemasins. Cinemasins is based entirely on nit picking. That's the whole point. That's the comedy. This, on the other hand, while self-aware about the nit picking, is still a legitimate review. Hell, the title and thumbnail give that much away.
He is comparing it to other superhero movies. And why it might not be that great of a spiderman series since it's so damn goofy.
something can only be wet if it normally is not, and can be dried, which means water isn't wet. it's just moisture.
dustyb58 Wet means being in contact with water, and water is constantly in contact with itself, so I'd call water wet. (The need for it to stick to something denser is a stupid, arbitrary line in the sand. You're telling me ice, aka frozen water, is wet, OIL, aka ANOTHER FUCKING LIQUID, if poured into some water...is wet. But WATER ITSELF is excluded? Fuck off, mate, if ANYTHING, water is SUPER wet, it is the EPITOME of wet! It is wetness rubbing up against itself, it is the purest form of wet!)
"unintentional comedy gold" This is the director of Evil Dead.
Alex Willis Yeah, pretty much all the cheese and humor is intentional. Makes them better movies in my eyes.
@@PWNDpresents Not all
Spike Spiegel I guess. Intentional or not, it's still funny and gives the movies much more charm.
Alex Willis are u talking about the really old evil dead that movie is so fucking funny
Alex Willis Raimi’s style is so great, and it’s hard to find a filmmaker can replicate what he can do.
Looking back at it now, it was really weird when Uncle Ben talked about how with great power comes great responsibility, but then went on to have a five-minute rant about the white man's burden before finally dying. I guess it really was a different time.
Me and my friend have been going to the new AMC theatrical re releases of the Spiderman movies (they’re currently doing Tobey’s trilogy, then Andrew’s, the finishing with Tom’s) and we feel the exact opposite. We’ve gone to see Tobey’s Spiderman in and 2 thus far (Spiderman 3 is next week) and felt they were better than we remember as kids and actually incredibly soulful movies. We think these feel more like stories while the latest marvel movies feel more like corporate projects or products. They’re simpler than the latest marvel multiverse stuff but somehow tenfold more meaningful in its storytelling. The current marvel stuff feels a little more hollow/sterile. Our takeaways so far upon revisiting at least.
This is EXACTLY what me and my brother have done! Not only did I realize how much I liked Spider-Man 2, but that I love it in a different way now that I'm an adult. As a kid I love the fight on the train scene, as an adult I feel more when the people hold onto him and lift him up. I am glad I'm not alone in this. The problem with this review (or 1 of them) is that it's easy to make fun of something good, it is difficult to praise it.

just rewatched this trilogy after spider verse, and it still a really good spidey story. then uncle ben moments hit every time we see peter having to his relations and well being for the sake of the city it hits home. even the minimal dialogue is effective. i find this version of peter to be the most realsitic version an awkward nerd who only has his aunt his best friend and gf as a social circle, struggles to work and do college while being spidey and bears it all.

The point of Dr. Octopus in the movie is his arrogance. The guy compared himself to Einstein and Edison. The part about him not getting protective gear was on purpose, he couldn’t even imagine his plan failing. He literally said he loves the movies….it’s not that deep lol
I definitely was not expecting the None Shall Pass on the Segway to Spider Man 2
That teacher in the first movie sounds like Jigsaw
I'm sure this narrator works for The Daily Bugle
cindy mananzala martinez he says in the beginning that he loves the movie
@@tygeanoules3705 He's lying. He praises the shit out of Disney's Spider-Man like it's perfect.
Ok, is he not aloud to think that the newer movies are better. Personally I love the MCU Spider-Man and I don’t really remember the Sam rami movies being that good
@Jim Johnson So true 😂 This can work out. Spider-Man is a HUGE sandbox to play around in. They just have to play their cards right. They should look to Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spectacular Spider-Man, Spider-Verse, and PS4 Spider-Man as their inspiration. They're basically perfect! I don't think Holland should crossover with Venom, because their characters are different ages. Sony should just proceed to have Tom faceoff against the Sinister Six. Sony should release a statement saying Venom takes place in the same universe as The Amazing Spider-Man movies and have Marc Webb return to direct the third one, and then we can have these two characters crossover. Sam Raimi should come back and direct Spider-Man 4, which takes place 10 years after Spider-Man 3 and explores an older and more experienced Spider-Man a lá Logan. Finally, we can have a live-action Spider-Verse with Tobey, Andrew, and Tom; a Sony equivalent to the Avengers. From there we can get Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Jessica Drew, Ben Reilly, Miguel O' Hara, and other REALLY INTERESTING SPIDER-CHARACTERS!
(Jim Johnson) People can be fans of characters without screaming like an insane fangirl. I personally love the MCU Spider-Man, though I know it’s less comic accurate than the other movies.
Yeah here’s the thing, Tobey has pizza time,Andrew and Tom don’t have pizza time
Wow I can't debate with that. I don't think anyone can
But Toby has to pay rent, Andrew and Tom don’t have to pay rent
GAMING MOTION yeah but then again......pizza time
Ps1 Hagrid Gosh darn it, cant argue with tha- *W A I T* Tom got a churro in Homecoming! *N A N I ? !*
GAMING MOTION then again the rami trilogy has the greatest line in cinematic history,”WHOA HE STOLE THAT GUY’S PIZZA”
11:37 ngl the Spider-Man face shot in this scene looks kinda dope
Slander *is* spoken and in print it's libel. As the editor-in-chief, he'd know that and that's exactly the sort of chastisement you'd get from your editor. It's 10/10.
Willam Defoe has the best character arc in Spider-Man he “dies” he flees from New York and goes to the Lighthouse.
God the lighthouse was weird wasn’t it 😂
Damn I never knew he went flawless, what a beast
I liked both of those movies lol
Then he saves John Wick from a russian mob twice
Beeyoth Gaming I understood that reference
I still can't get over the fact that Venom uses 'I' instead of 'we'. You had one job. One.
Venom was shoved in by sony so i dont think Raimi gave 2 shits about Venom
Raimi idea for third one is Vulture but Sony forced him to add Venom.
@@ban66a1 in all honesty I doubt raimi's vulture would be as good as the one we got
@@gloriousporpoise9731 We don't see it yet or know the details, and Sandman character actually work by story and acting perspective but Sony was fool enough by add Venom/Eddie Brock since the third movie already have stacked character.
@@ban66a1 what I'm saying is that I doubt we would have gotten a vulture as good as Michael Keaton's one as he's one of the superhero film villains in the past decade
It's hillarious how the next recommendation for this is "better than you remember" too

I could 100% imagine the guy playing hoffman jumpimg in too early on his queue and they just roled with it 😅
@Kryptoskillet isnt he played by his brother ted raimi? A simple google search pulled that up, am i missing something 🤔
@Kryptoskillet that’s not Sam that’s his brother Ted
This video was funny af ngl and i love the trilogy
Are these movies terrible? Absolutely. Are they also completely and utterly perfect in every conceivable way? Yes. Very much so yes.
No, and no
What the fuck millennial
Can u stop about your dam! i don't like criticism! no one cares for it spiderman 3 was a masterpice keep your criticism to your self
"This movie is dumb as hell, 7/10 I love it' Yep that just about sums it up.
Na it really doesn't. There's plenty of shit talking in this video that makes it seem like the movie has plenty of flaws, but its manipulation on the part of the creator. If you actually watch the trilogy after watching this video, its quite clear how biased this guy is, and how he just makes up a bunch of shit as reasons for why the movies are bad, just because he personally doesn't like them. A lazy critique targeted towards a lazy audience
@@suchalad ALERT!! ALERT!! RAIMI FANBOY DETECTED!!!!!!!
@@mjfan8704 ahahah i'm not a fan boy of anything. It's just that the video creator is making up a bunch of B.S, like his comment about spider man beating people up, even though he mostly just catches people into his webs and only beats people when he's got no other choice. Also he's bitching about the science of a movie that has SPIDERMAN in it.....it's a goofy superhero movie and he's criticising it for being.....a goofy superhero movie. It's like yelling at a pear because it's not an apple. His points about aunt may were so b.s. When she says "you loved him, and he loved you" She is (obviously) saying that whatever happened doesn't matter, what matters is that they cared for each other, even though Pete and uncle ben had some heated moments, it doesn't really matter. Her speeches in the second and third movies are really sweet. There are youtubers who actually have discussed these scenes and talked about why they are great. This guy just implies that certain moments are bad without explaining why. Like a school kid telling his friends that "yugioh is better than pokemon" when I watched this video a year ago i was gullible to actually take his word for it, and was a little sad that (they arrn't as good as i remember), but i just rewatched them, then came across this video again, and remembered watching it previously and now seeing how wrong he is, and that this video is just a bunch of shit talking This youtuber is just making money off internet losers who love to bash normal, genuine character films which have since been replaced by the most cringe movies like gardiens of the galaxy (the soundtrack my god, please kill me)
@@suchalad Yeah, all of that still doesn't take away the fact that you're a fanboy. Nothing wrong with that. It's just that many of you get VERY defensive when it comes to things you like. So defensive, it's almost as if the ones criticizing the thing you like are the worst people to ever grace the Earth since Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. Just saying.
@@mjfan8704 I said the dude was lying and shit talking. Most humans do those things at least a few times a week, so no. You're just saying that in an attempt to rile me up, which i think is sad for you. goodluck
J.K Simmons as J Jonah Jameson is the best thing about the Raimi trilogy.
Pranavanathan Yoganathan I don’t think a singles person will disagree with you
@Whale Master They should have called it Spider-Man: JJJ Comes Home
Aaandddd now hes also in the MCU films thank fuck
Hey Dr Octopus was bad ass.
He's the only character that actually fits and he's in all honesty the only reason it all fits together
the thing with this movies is that they are made in a “romcom” style.. romantic comedies were super popular at the time anyways, these are amazing movies, they are special in their own way
All that live-action goofiness examplifies how The Spectacular Spider-Man and Insomniac's Spider-Man are in a completely different level. GOATs
Let's all just agree that J. Jonah Jameson couldn't have been played better in the old trilogy.
seriously though I cannot think of any other way for him to sound like other then J. K. Simmons portrayal of him.
Fin Fen honestly, he really needs to reprise his role in the new films
