The Lamborghini Espada is the weirdest Lamborghini ever made. For proof, I've reviewed an Espada -- and I'm taking you on a tour of the Lamborghini Espada to show you why the Espada is so strange and unusual.

"The passenger has no access to the radio." As it should be. That's not a quirk, that's a feature!
@Eks calybur Exactly what I was thinking, but don't tell my wife please...
"driver centric dashboard" As it should be in any car.
Every Espada I've ever seen had the stereo unit in between the seats with the controls facing forward. Now that would be a quirk. But this car has been rebuilt and modified (very tastefully) to be perfect. That was a newer stereo obviously, and I think moved from the console. A good solution rather than a quirk. I thought it looked good. Notice those ignition coil packs? Yeah, that's a nice car alright. I keep watching these because you do get a good look at the car, but Doug needs to change meds or something. He could reduce his word count by 75% and not lose any actual information. But the kid in a candy store feeling is obviously hard to hide (I can only imagine) there in Dubai.
Best design ever
Excalibur lol
Doug you are not allowed to leave Dubai until you have mastered driving a Toyota Land Cruiser on 2 wheels..
BlakeBiundo is that a real law P.S just curious😁😀🤣😂
There's also that thing about the goats.
You have to get a permit from the emirate police to drive into the desert. To go to Oman not but to Saudi Arabia you have too. Maybe its against smuggling or other shit.
Z B You're saying all those people in video's driving like jackasses in the dessert, had to get permits, or is that just for tourists?
BlakeBiundo nissan patrol
The wooden bit on the door is just a kick plate, when you’re getting out of the car your feet tend to swing in that specific area on the door so Lamborghini thought of this and installed a kick plate so you don’t damage your lovely leathered door
That's... that's brilliant...
Bit surprised HE muffed that! How obvious is it.?
Okay that's something I didn't know. A very nice quirk indeed.
Write a book called I'm Mr know it all
The part "so you don't damage...." I read with Doug's voice hahahaha
12:20 - The V12-powered Lamborghini Espada has an Economy Gauge. Wow.
Doug "I'm 6'3" DeMuro

Wharlts the matter? Is that much? (Why not use metric?)
@@MaxHohenstaufen because that would be too easy
I heard he was 6'3''
Doug only u can rock a t-shirt over another t-shirt in 2017
And all that in Dubai LOL
Wow, some Ford Focuses have a similar antenna!
Why does everyone keep commenting on the 2 shirts? An undershirt is a pretty normal thing for a dude to wear, especially when there's a mic wire running down to the transmitter inside his shirt. Would you want a mic wire rubbing and itching your skin?
the simple wearing of two shirts is not, at least in my opinion, the real issue here. I wear an undershirt regularly. but I make sure that the shirt I'm wearing under the other shirt is FUCKING SMALLER. I love your videos, Doug, but CHROIST M8, learn to dress yourself! you look like you woke up 5 minutes before this shoot was scheduled and rushed the fuck out of your hotel, accidentally putting your undershirt on over your t-shirt.
Brian Carpenter Doug doesn’t follow the dress code!
I honestly can't explain why I love the look of this car so much. I guess it's just because it screams vintage and I just find that pretty cool.
But how? How do you find these ancient, dysfunctional scraps of metal designed by a man with a felt-tip pen on a Flipchart-board remotely attractive? I mean, I'm just curious. If the Big car company's shared your mentality - We'd never see Modern Masterpieces like the BMW 4 Gran Coupe. We'd all be stuck in the 70's & 80s (shady eras at best.)
@@netweed09I wouldn’t necessarily call a BMW a masterpiece.
The ashtray in the back was perfect, since parents in the 70’s had no problem asking their kid to light a cigarette for them.
'70s.
And the kids were so proud of doing it!
The average age of a Lamborghini owner was over 50, so their kids probably could smoke as well....
@@Alby_Torino take it easy kid
models back then were actually thin so dude could take like 6 home!

Maserati Khamsin (made 1974 - 82) a glass rear panel with the tail lamps set into it. (Apart from US models, which had the lamps below the glass and above the bumper)
That wood on the door is a kick panel. It takes the scuffs of shoes, rather than allowing the leather to get scuffed up.
BaltimoreAndOhioRR Italian engineering at its finest 😂 good eye my dude
BaltimoreAndOhioRR kinda obvious too. surprise doug couldn't figure that out
+Baltimore that's what I was thinking, but you posted first
+Paul Standeven haha, after i posted it, and after watching the full vid, i read the other comments, and saw some other people already mentioned it, too! haha

I remember as a teenager, a guy in my town had a silver Espada. Amazing car. I could outrun him with my 70 GTO, in a straight line, but throw a corner in, and wow! First Lambo I ever drove. Thanks for the memory.
You had a GTO as a teenager?
Wow ....when i was about there was a silver one in the housing estate i lived in...used walk past it and admire it..thought it was amazing.....
@@SpaceCattttt , if he meant a 1970 Pontiac GTO, then it's not all that unlikely. They depreciated quite quickly as far as I know.
@@eh86055 Exactly. Pontiac GTO. Muscle Car, all American steel. And in the early 1980s, worth about 1/10 what a new TransAm or Camaro was... let alone a Lamborghini or a Ferrari or a Porsche. I think I bought mine for $1000. I wish the days of those super cheap muscle cars just sitting around to get bought up would come back...
@@mathiasvries You know what really REALLY sucks? There's an SR-71 Blackbird sitting less than a mile away from where I am right now, and they won't even let us take it out for test flights... (and that is gospel truth, unlike your pathetic attempt at trolling...)

It's funny because it's true
LMAO!
I only managed 3 minutes, I presume he gets paid per word, most of them being contradictory drivel. This guy was born yesterday, every single day.
Wow, the front looks really good. Thanks for showing it for 7 seconds.
I seriously wish that all old cars with power windows had the crank option if the power functions broke. That would make my life so much easier!
I wish all cars with power windows had a crank option
I don't remember any old cars except my dad's old Honda odyssey from the 90s that he had when I was a kid
That interior is so beautiful to me. I'd love a car that looked liked that inside.
It's dated and ridiculous. Plastic mushy unlabeled buttons and looks beyond an old-man's type of car. But then okayyy - it is a pre-2000's car so I forgive it. What's your car collection like - a museum?
@@netweed09 What exactly is your point?
@@netweed09 You’re real funny buddy, I see your comments everywhere.
Seeing 4 people sitting in a lambo would blow my mind
Daniel Williams so far lambo only made 3 cars with 4 seater, espada, lm002 and urus. Kinda blow my mind.
Ab-so-lute-ly!
Ardi Januar the v10 Audi rs6 comes close as being an honorary four door 5seat Lamborghini
Ardi Januar LM blows everyone mind. Made in a time when coke was the aperitif of the worlds boardrooms.
That is until the urus gets popular
4:28 Sorry Doug, but I accurately guessed the correct placement of the fuel doors. Do I get a cookie?
Danly even I did. It was easy because he was standing right there
I did as well
High-five, same here
I did as well
I knew it I got it right
BTW, this car is probably on a programmable aftermarket ECU. That is NOT the original ignition system
I caught that too! Probably why it runs so good! lol
Can you please explain more? That would be great :)
Correct. I had my Espada for over 20 years and sold it. The original 4-point distributor was an absolute nightmare to keep tuned... I removed mine, and built two gearboxes driven off one of the camshafts on each bank, and used them to drive two electronic 6-cylinder distributors. I also removed the 12 Weber carburators (6 duals), built new intake manifolds for two Bosch CIS six cylinder fuel injection systems... That is how Lamborghini should have built them....
@@vanekert I built the hemednas myself and actually used parts from girdenfah to repair the ignition system. Although Lamborghini should have definitely used eefgadnes to tie it all in.
@@abdulhameedal-sikafi8944 Its an Electromotive XDI or HPX waste spark (1 coil per 2 cylinders) it uses a 60-2 (58t) gear like a Gen 4 LS motor. TERRIBLE SYSTEMS. Unreliable and archaic. It has no cam sensor, just the crank sensor which is why it is a waste spark. I had a few of them on my 89 d16 Civic with fual DCOE 45 Weber carbs. As long as the stock Lambo points system is kept fresh--it is better. These systems are popular with older Lambo and Ferraris because the owners don't know any better and usually have shops install parts. You will NEVER find anybody racing with the Electromotive systems. They also make a fuel injection computer that uses this ignition--it is so outdated and difficult to deal with. Garbage.
The wood on the door is probably when you touch the door panel with your dirty shoes. You can wipe it easily off.
So, Espada is the sword used to kill a bull, and a bull is Lamborghini's trademark .... I can't possibly see were they went wrong here
Scott Gordon lol
Espada just means sword, any sword so whether it's a bull fighters sword or a European knights broad sword or a fencing sword they're all espadas.
Scott Gordon - You are “thinking” … So you would NOT be a good Lamborghini customer.
Espada is the general Spanish/Portuguese word for sword. The sword used to kill the pull, an angled (not curved) sword, is called "Estoque", being the "Estocada" the plunging of sword into the bull. However, the word Espada (sword), is also a synomym for "Matador" (matador, from the verb "matar", "killing", means literally "killer"). Nevertheless, I think that your right. I believe as well that Espada is connected to bull fight, after all Ferruccio Lamborghini was a bull breeder and a bull fight "afficionado".
@Henry Vasquez lamborgini madator I like it

"there's no headrest in any of these old cars" , proceeds to lay his head back on the headrest...
Therefore, not resting his head. You’ll get fucking merked in an accident with those teeny tiny little suggestion of a headrest.
It was pretty obvious that the fuel door was on the black things, since trunks don’t usually need air vents.
Bruno G. Lopes Lamborghini trunks do
Well thank you for pointing out the obvious.
You need to vent the odour of a rotting body
I remember some vents behind back doors on a Mondeo MK1 and there was a duct behind it, so they must've been functional. Where it went, I have no idea.
All trunks have air vents or you will blow out the rear window.

Yeah, it's like an acquired taste
I really love the badging on the rear quarter panels!! The way they incorporated the sword into the name. Nice touch!
Doug talking about a lamborghini from the 70's.. "Sounds like a lamborghini from the 70's"

S2k Kev same. But probably the only time our S's will be compared to this. Ever.
The Espada obviously inspired the S2000, lol

Who would like to see a Doug review of a Lamborghini Urus when it comes out?
why the fuck everybody is making those stupid suvs?
Itaresam for rich soccer moms/trophy wife’s
Itaresam Cause you want a fast(ish) car with some practicality that has enough clearance to clear some bigger potholes in the city. And of course the Lambo badge
The wood is there to protect the upholstery from kicks while leaving the car. Actually it's very well placed.
Dumb theMoron knows little about cars, does he?
Why you gotta hate on someone successful. . . You’re stupid. . . I can say that, you’re not successful.
I agree. Instead of calling it a piece of wood, he should call it a nicely veneered wood strip with a chrome edge.
Makes sense.
The lower part of the door panel is usually referred to as the "kick-panel" because it's there to prevent scratching/marring of the door panel like Mastah2006 said.
I just stumbled upon this channel and I’m hooked! Doug, you rock man!
It's actually a great car I wish they make more car like that, wow specially from the 70s that's amazing SWT...
I was suprised too, Lamborghini touring? Practical? That's quite interesting! I'm quite sure if they invested more we would have great cars that are a bit more affordable.

I absolutely LOVE that rear quarter window opening mechanism! Ingenious! I actually love the whole 2+2 concept as executed by Lambo in the Espada and the styling and packaging IMO just could not get any better. So distinctive and unique! It is the Lambo i would have chosen as a high school graduation present if only the folks had offered me my choice of products from "The Raging Bull." You may think the styling "wierd" Doug but i find it almost perfectly executed for it's intended purpose. Unlike most 2+2 GT's where rear seating is an afterthought. I could just see 4 Lambo upper management executives flying down a primary high speed motorway on their way to a meeting with a component supplier in one of Italy's major cities. Gobbling up the kilometers while smoking away in relative comfort only found in a quattro porte. The Espada is so unique in concept and execution that it is in a class of it's own.
I love the fact that he fully reviewed the trunk , and after a couple of minutes returned to review the trunk

It was inspired by the Marzal concept car from 1966. It was a 4--seater that had full wing doors big enough for the front and rear seats. The next door neighbor to a friend of mine had an Espada in his garage in the late 70's. Never saw him drive it.
I sometimes accidentally kick my car door as I exit, maybe that's why the wood is there ;)

that's exactly why that wood panel is put on the door, any one that knows about cars, driven cars, knows someone with a car or has seen someone get in or out of a car knows that. . Doug always surprises me in his narrow minded approach to reviewing cars, I'm shocked he can be around so many cars and still be this clueless, I wouldn't trust him to wash my car.

@@lba4746 I used to read the magazines in those days.
I don’t think he talked about the different “series” these cars had. This was a Series 3 Espada which was first produced in 1972. They all basically looked the same on the outside but the dash layouts looked different. The Series 1 and 2 cars both had the radio located in the center of the car where you’d expect it.
That is a stunning, beautiful, uniquely designed touring machine, from Italy, and style score is 4/10?! Four out of ten!! 40 per cent style and 60 per cent, idk, utility? I’m catching on. The numbers are chosen at random! Great episode regardless I give it 3.5/10

Maybe a little late. But my maternal grandfather bought a series 3, the same car as tested, back in 1973 and its still in the family. He sold it to my mother and my parents love to drive it in the summer holidays. I am allowed to drive it from time to time and it's fabulous. Its really comfortable, turns heads everywhere you arrive. At first most people don't know what it is and will ask you, you can't park without getting asked what it is. The best part though is the driving experience at high speeds. You can easily drive it on the left lane of the autobahn, the funniest thing tho is driving at around 180kmh (110mph) and passing people, the looks of the people are always amazing
This was one of the most entertaining and positive test drives I've seen. Thanks Doug. Put me in a happy mood and starting a savings account for one.

904 Airsoft estoque concept was the closest
These were selling here in Australia for a song second hand in the late 80s through mid 90s, and there was a surprising number I saw for sale compared to other obscure Lamborghinis like the Jarama and Jalpa. I've often wondered were they a particularly specially marketed in Australia above any other Lamborghini they tried to sell here due to the difference in frequency with which these showed up in CarTrader or Unique Car magazines, compared to basically any other Lamborghini until the Diablo, because Lamborghini thought they'd be more tempting for this market than anything else they offered. I think it's an amazing car myself.
Just so you know, when I was younger, a certain Oldsmobile dealer where I live dealt in Lamborghinis for a while. They had an Espada in the front window with the Chevrolet and Oldsmobiles.
