Apart from the appallingly moronic Les Ross I have BOOM radio on all the time, absolute joy to listen to and with David Hamilton and Simon Bates joining them ( shame Ken Bruce did not join them) it can feel I have proper Radio 2 on. Now 70 and often cooking in my kitchen now, (fortunately neighbours not close enough to hear) will turn the volume full on when I recognize a goodie come on and sing my head off plus even jumped about dancing and some times be close to tears when memories of family no more, friends and close mates and girl friends. My favourite is Jenny Hanley with her melodious and wonderful voice is so calming and I love how she is honest at times and considers her self to be grumpy. BOOM Radio I feel is becoming the voice of true British people who still have common sense and believe in this country not the like the terrible Woke BBC which is a disgrace we still have to pay for. I wish BOOM radio well and advise every one to trun in and listen to them (apart from the immature Les Ross).

Now Ken has left the BBC, he might do an occasional programme for Boom now he has left the BBC. Having said that, Johnnie Walker is still on the BBC and does shows for Boom.

Great plug for Boom Radio. I like most of the music they play although a little bit on the easy side for me at times.

Fascinating to see Simon Bates and David Hamilton together. Bates was a regular stand in on Hamilton’s afternoon show that went out on Radios 1 and 2. Both, like Ken Bruce and Michael Aspel, were and still are masters at broadcasting to a wide ranging audience. When Bates took over from Tony Blackburn in the mornings in November 1977 Blackburn was moved to the afternoons and Hamilton to Radio two only in the same time slot. It was an absurd decision that damaged Hamilton’s career, meaning he lost TOTP etc. They should have kept things as they were, probably for another year.

At 2:38 Jenny Hanley hits the nail bang on the head regarding the music we remember best. In my case, it would've been 1978-1988 with a massive emphasis on 1979. For me personally that year, more than any other, was awesome in terms of music. It may be no longer financially viable, but it's a pity that Boom Radio couldn't take over 198 Long Wave now that the BBC are soon to discontinue Radio 4 on that wavelength. Mind you, with Bauer's plans to discontinue GHR on the Freeview platform, that could be a very good alternative if possible
