Making a simple, but accurate center finder from scraps of laminate flooring. It will be used mostly for woodturning, to mark the center of blanks.
Laminate flooring is a great material for workshop projects since it's basically MDF covered in melamine on both sides.
I used the factory edges to get an accurate square then used it's diagonal to mark the 45 degree angle for the ruler. The ruler itself is a piece of leftover aluminum transition strip.

Love this video. No small talk, no stupid music, (good editing). Attention all you-tube DIY'ers, please learn from this person.
I just subscribed to your channel. No talking, no life story, just doing the job, that's what I like.
Thanks! To be honest this kind of videos is a lot easier to make than the ones with a proper host.
Easy to build and precise tool. I am happy to find your channel. h also have a small shop. So, it's good to learn from one with same basic tools. thank you.

@Milo Roland i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Milo Roland It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy! Thanks so much you really help me out!
Very smart idea for video, spending time to make such a thing is definitely worth for all the uses of this tool. A great and important project for an amateur like me. Very enjoyable videos, well done!

Nice work and great detail, its also on my todo list. Thanks
Nice project and video. I always enjoy your videos. They are well done, have fine workmanship, and get to the point quickly. Thanks for these.
Thank you very much for all your comments Dave!
love this idea very, very clean work well done
Awesome videos. Easy to follow, very clear and always making something useful! Great job.
Your comment makes me very happy, since that's exactly what I try to achieve when I make these videos: to make them easy and useful. Thank you!
Parabéns meu amigo um belo equipamentos ótimo vídeo, fiquei impressionado com o tamanho da serra muito bacana.
Video Format: Excellent. No useless dialog, no stupid grunge music, short and to the point. Shop Practices: I get a little anxious watching your fingers in harm's way on that table saw!
Thanks for your concern, but that is a 2 inch blade that only sticks around a quarter inch above the table. So worst case scenario it nicks my fingers! ...But, given my recent luck, it will probably pull me into the saw one day... bet that would make a great video!
That is too cool and super useful. Now I gotta make one for myself
A well needed tool.. That is something that I've needed many of times in the past and I know I'll be making one very soon in the future.. Thanks
Thank you too! Like I said in a previous comment, it's a super easy project.
Very clever, you are displaying your ninja skills.
Thanks for not bombarding your video with loud distracting stupid music ! Good build and very handy !
you making great stuff! and i really like the way you make your videos. big thumb up! easy and nice to follow. i wish there was more people like that on youtube. subscribed! have a nice day, geko
Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for the idea.
Your channel is going to make me very busy making things lol.
Thanks for this video, i am a beginner wood lathe user this will help a lot
funny...while watching this, an advertisement popped up for a center finder for $28.07. I think I like your better. Great idea
The algorithms decided that it was relative to you. It is one of the rare cases that it was actually relative to you. Be happy. :) The algorithms never work for me. Yesterday someone sent me a link to a gross video and the ad before the video was about food. xD
Clean build, good stuff. Gonna check out that mini table saw and probably subscribe.
Outstanding, genius idea. Thanks heaps.
Great build! I need one of these!
Thank for sharing! Love it....I'll add this to my shop tools for sure!
Thank you too Tony!
Finally!!!!!! Something that can be used on the end of a barrel tapered dovel, instead of the blade cut 90 degrees jig
Nice! That is so much better than the one I made out of old lasagna noodles.
Nice job! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, I have some in progress, hope to have a new video out soon.
Wow! Its amazing trick... and tools
So neat... great work
like your tap holder !
well done. great work and neat.
Great project. Here in the Philippines, I would surly here "out of stock" at any local hardware store. The sad part is, several times I had to "eyeball" the center and live with the results. This is now on my to do list as soon as we return from a visa run to Thailand. Thank you for the inspiration.
Out of stock is still something, here where I live they never heard of such tool :)
Very nice.. I know it's an old video but cool idea for flooring scraps.

This is great! Thank you.
I have one and it's a must have that tool. The time you save an the Précision you can work with this tool is not normal every ironworker must have one 😁😁😁😁👌👌
:) Awesome seeing DIY stuff made locally. Nice shop and nice tools. That screwdriver handle is awesome. Last time i saw somebody using a "analog" caliper was 15 years ago and that was the last day of work of my dad. TIP: When you drill aluminium use small steps, plunge retract plunge retract. AL and other soft alloys drilled or machined with a steel purpose tool have a nasty tendency to stick to the tool resulting a pull of the tool into the material causing unexpected problems. Yes that is a thin profile but i bet you hand secured on the other end. Keep Up.
Multumesc! I was surprised myself when I noticed there are few DIYers from our country, at a time we were proud we can fix everything. I guess today we are more proud when we can buy everything. Thanks for the tip, sometimes I follow safety rules, sometimes I take chances and sometimes I get hurt. In this case the aluminum was clamped to the wood piece and the tail of the clamp itself prevented rotation in case the tool caught. I need to make a proper table for the drill press to allow better clamping but I have little time for the workshop and a long to do list :)
Andrei Sima ,foarte frumos
interesting and handy little mini table saw. too bad you don't have a vid on that.
he has one :)
Superb idea
Wow what a Work!
Excellent idea thanks for sharing full view /like/subd Yiannis (Athens Greece)
Neat. It is one of those things that could come handy sometimes, but too lazy to make one because it is needed so rarely.
dammm thats nice good job man
I laughed at your "Math is funny" caption when rotating the square wooden piece. I never realised that centre finders worked on square pieces at funny angles. Interesting fact.
Cool idea. Also no techno music. A++ TYVM
You may not be a genius but you will do till one comes along! Great video.
LOL, thanks, I guess!
great job man
Nice work thanks!!!
I like the tap handle you use haha
