From MCU's Spider-Man No Way Home all the way back to the 1970s TV shows, here are the live-action web-shooters used by Peter Parker played by Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Nicholas Hammond, & Shinji Todo. FAIR USE.
1. This video was made prior to the release of No Way Home, so the information here about the web-shooters from that film are OUTDATED.
2. We didn't include Zombie Hunter Spider-Man who had silver colored web-shooters, since he's animated, while this video focuses on live-action versions.

I’m not going to lie, I always thought organic web shooters was the norm since it made the most sense to me as a little kid. He could crawl like a spider, see like a spider with 2 eyes, have spider senses and what is a spider without its web? That’s why I was confused when other spider men were using mechanical web shooters

Peter isnt your average scientist or average high school student, he's literal called a genius, even tony praises him about it, i mean if a dude who's literal one of the top10 smartest people on earth genuinely calls you smart you're probably top100 smart or maybe top 20 even
Andrew Garfield doesn't make his own web fluid. He just buys it off Oscorp. So obviously a scientist did invent it before him.

The organic webbing is a fresh take that doesnt seem too bizzare, considering that he got spider powers from a spider. I was quite surprised that spiderman didnt have organic webs at first. Even though it was to show that Peter is a genius, the movie didnt seem to lack in that aspect.

It would also help more with the idea, that truly everyone could be Spider-man, even though the best explanation for the web-shooters was in "Spiderman the Animated Series", he said the idea for the webbing, came to his mind as a side effect of the bite, just as second nature. I really liked the later one, because of acknowledging that not everyone has to be somekind of a science wiz for that abbility and we all know that it is one of the most enjoyable and helpful ones.
Idk, tobey didn't feel as big brained unless he was answering school questions lol. We've never seen him engineer anything or actually display his science knowledge. If anything he showed more in no way home than he did in his whole trilogy

I think that the best variation of his web-shooter would be this: Peter would have an organic web-shooter, however he realizes that it's not versatile enough, so he engineers a special web-adapter which would allow him to show the audience that he's a genius AND expand the ways he can use his webs. I honestly think that this would be the best way to handle his web-shooter situation!

The first time ever I saw spiderman was through Toby's Spiderman when I was a kid, so the idea of organic web shooters appeared to be the original concept in my mind, then I never watched any other Spiderman media but I saw in other movie clips and games that he had to use a wrist device that allowed him to shoot his webs, I thought it was exactly what you described, a device that would maybe store the web that is organically made and then shoot it with a strong enough force, something like that
I dont think he can really do that if he made his own webs from science because if he did when he tries to shoot his webs the organic web would come at at the same time as the webs he made so it would make it pretty uncomfortable
My thoughts are similar. But it's kind of like this, Peter's organic webbing isn't versatile enough, also it hurts a lot when it comes out of his wrists, too much webbing might spill some blood out of his hand and he might pass out, so he thinks of a greater idea i.e, the mechanical web shooters. (In a scenario like the final battle in TASM, or in the PS4 Spider-man when his webshooters get destroyed, he's forced to use the organic webbing, which might be very interesting how he fights in my opinion).

I like the idea of the webs coming from inside of Peter because it makes getting bit by the spider more significant since he gets more spider-y powers but at the same time it’s disgusting and I hate it
And it takes away from the fun of Peter creating multiple types of webs to fit the situation his facing. Like goddamn Fire Webs to fight Venom. Or my personal favorite the Web Bullet the the Peter from Earth-8351 uses. Though one of Peter clones does have organic web shooters in the mainline universe.

For the longest time I thought that spider-man had organic web-shooters but he couldn’t control them because they spewed everywhere, and that he created the web-shooters so that he could control them.

Honestly, if there was a new line of comics for spider man right now or a new TV show, that should be a great concept to go off on. I feel like it’s a great mix of both the mechanical and organic web shooters, plus it keeps the weaknesses in, if one or both of the web shooters are broken Peter can still make webbing but it won’t be as useful if the organic webs can’t fire properly with control.

I agree. It makes the MOST sense to make the web an actual part of his power! He can already climb walls, and has the reaction-time of a spider, giving him the webs of one would be the next evolutionary step!

The thing that bugs me most about Spider-Man NOT having organic webbing, is that it sort of makes his powers less unique. Like, if the engineered webbing is so useful and effective, why wouldn't Tony Stark also use it? What's stopping some genius villain like Doc Ock from creating something similar, or just stealing them? The organic webs mean NO ONE but Spider-Man, (and other spider-men/women) can do it, and without webs, all Spider-Mans powers are, are super strength, agility, wall-crawling and a 6th sense, which lot's of other superheroes and villains have. I get they have him make web-shooters to show off his genius but there's a million other ways they can do that, Peter once built a time machine out of a microwave.

Other super geniuses like Tony or Doc Ock wouldn’t *need* to make spider fluid. They already have ways of traveling in the city with ease and ensnaring opponents the are about as good if not better than the webbing. And even if they were organic I highly doubt that would suddenly negate another smart enough character from creating an artificial version if they wanted to. All they’d have to to is get a sample of it after all. whether or not is part of his biology or something he built the web stuffs not particularly different than a grappling hook, tendril, or net gun when you generalize it. It becomes unique via how Spiderman uses the webbing in various ways.

When Andrew's spider man came out in the theatres and he introduced the webshooter, i was confused since Tobey had organic webshooters. It was confusing but i really loved Andrew' first webshooter

0:15 Personally I really like not only the 1970s adaptation itself but also his web shooter. I get that’s it’s a bit campy and indicative of the time but not only is it comic book accurate but it looks like something a kid would actually make, you can literally see where the servos and metal plate completes an electrical current when pressed and all of the different cartridges at the sides, it’s the most “comic book” but it also feels the most realistic Also he’s one of the only Spidermen that actually swung on a physical web

The positive side of mechanical web shooter like Andrew and Tom version is that they can modify it in such way to use it against Electro. I think if Tobey version fights Electro, it would hurt his web glands and could potentially damage his tissue. But here we learn that each has its own positive and negatives. Tobey's organic web is cool and it's unique, but it could have a web block without any "warning" because of his existential crisis and takes time to gain that power back. While Andrew and Tom only need to change cartridges and they could carry as much as they need but if they have issues with the mechanics, it's a hassle to fix and to experiment with
Even worse Tom and Andrew can run out of web fluid… they would go from Spider-Man to stick to walls man.

Tobey's Spidey was the very first Spider-Man i was introduced to as a kid So when i found out the original used a mechanical web shooter i was pretty disappointed 😅
You know, Initially I was a miffed too. But as I learned more about how the web shooters were a thing in the comics, and all the neat designs and abilities they did My preferences switched over.

If he was to really gain all spider abilities, the web should coming out of the butt. Doens't makes sense why webs come out of the wrist and why doing this fingers 🤟 makes the web come out. Web shooters fixes all the unexplained things about the organic.

I like the idea of Organic webs for spider-man but I like the idea of using both Organic and Tech. Organic in a sense he can still shoot webs from his wrists but less controllable while the web shooters gathers the web fluid from his wrists and can change settings for web slinging, web balls, spray setting and etc.
I thought of the same thing years ago.

I think a good compromise would be Peter producing the web material in one of his arms like how a spider produces it’s own, but having a shooter able to make it fling out or take different shapes

thats my take as well. He can produce it. Maybe shoot it a couple feet but he needs the webshooter to actually make it go far and produce different types of web tricks

But I do think Peter would have his limits when it comes to organic webbing where as man made webbing is stronger, faster, and more convenient. I always had the question of “what if he runs out”, but I think with the new suit and advanced technology by Tony it will be far more difficult.

I really like the organic web shooters, since that's the cherry on top with the whole 'spider mutant' idea Spiders are known for their webs (and creepiness and multiple legs). If you have to build the web shooters, than the whole spider idea becomes a gimmick since I'm sure there are other insects or animal that lift more than their body weight, can climb vertical surfaces, and have a kind of danger sense. Like ants.

The second we shooters were also made for electricity, not just electro. In TASM1, Peter gets tased and electrocuted by a police officer. He made the TASM2 webshooters because he learned that he needs to withstand electricity.

Since I grew up with Tobey organic web just seemed like the norm to me and despite mechanical web shooters being comic accurate it still makes more sense to me. He can climb on walls like a spider, why wouldn’t he have his own web like one too? Plus it’s pretty convenient that he never has to refill the web shooters.

@@greenknight8668 I actually thought that was weird seeing mechanical web shooters despite most spider-people in the spiderverse having mechanical web shooters. I still like the organic web better it just makes a bit more sense to me. Plus there are times when the web shooters break or have to be refilled so it’s kind of nice if they are one of Peter’s powers and not a gadget, so he can’t run out or anything.

Stan lee explained that it was weird to shoot out body fluis and he wants to show how smart peter is by engineering the web shooter, it also adds challenges when peter rans out of web or when it's broken during fight. It doesn't makes sense why the web came out of the wrist instead of the butt and why the web only comes out when you do this finger 🤘. The web shooter fixed all the unexplained things about organic web
@@greenknight8668 Gross but convenient. Too many times the web shooters have broken in the movies and comics. They never seem to run out but they definitely malfunction or break. I didn’t know Miles had organic web, kind of assumed he didn’t because I own the movie and game and both have mechanical web but that’s cool. I’ll always like Peter just a little more, he’s the og. But Miles is the goat with both the bioelectricity and invisibility and probably many other powers that will be revealed in the future.

I find it more believable that a radioactive spider will change DNA and organic tissue allowing the bitten user to develop webbing abilities instead of having a watch sized device allowing the user to shoot strong state of the art webs at far distances and velocities.

For me the organic spiderwebs I find the coolest, I do like the idea of multi webs like Tom hollands Peter Parker uses with the suit but for me if I could only pick one I’d go organic for sure I just like it the most.

Tobey really does have it so easy lol. Just shoots webs out of his wrists lmao. Doesn't have to bother with cartridges or webshooters, just makes the hand motion and bam, he's got webs. Tom and Andrew's Spider Man were both so intrigued and kinda jealous lol.
Earliest comics for Spiderman had him design mechanical shooters as well if I remember right. In the animated series, when I was a kid. They used the web fluid thing as kind of a weakness for Spiderman. Need to step up the drama a bit? Well Spiderman is in a fight, and just ran out of fluid, not good. So yeah the mechanical shooters serve a purpose in that way. They also allow different types of web designs. The organic shooters are believable, but not if they shot all kinds of different web types. I think mechanical is the way to go. Or as another comment mentioned, organic, but have mechanisms that alter the webs shape. You can still have him run out of fluid with organic, but then you lose the ability to have him get a quick refill.

I do love that Raimi's spierman gets organic webshooters, since it does lend him particular strengths and weaknessses that other Spiderman incarnations just don't have. He never ever runs out of web, because he generates it passively. But at the same time, if his powers ever start failing him (which they do frequently depending on his mindset), not only does he lose the vast majority of his powers, but he loses the ability to swing, which no other spider man would have any issue with. Granted, it does lose out a bit since the whole deal of the web shooters was to show off peter's genius and inventiveness, whereas Maguire's spiderman never gets any chance to really show off his intelligence.
Speaking of biology or Arachnology, Spiders produce webs from biological nature speaking so they produce real web not artificial .Tobey Maguire Spiderman is unique one because he doesn't need device(mechanical web shooter) , he produce web in organic just like a real spider. So the result of radioactive spider bites to Peter Parker superhuman strength, speed, and agility along with the ability to cling to walls. Except for one which is shoot a web like a natural spider do not need a web shooter.
But it didn’t make any sense anyways bc his powers weren’t meant to make him like a spider. Even his original wall climbing powers were not natural in the comics, he would literally suction his molecules to whatever service making him impossible to seperate. In the sam raimi films he has hairs on his hands.

On Toby Maguire’s web shooters they are organic without his suit but outside of his suit on his hand he has the Web shooters the reason for this is his organic webs can not shoot through the suit so yeah
Pretty sure he just has a a tube sticking out of the suit's wrist so the webs can come out. I'm not sure if that counts as a "web-shooter" though.

Organic webs always made more sense tbh. I always thought it was quite a shitty deal that the comic version's powers were the same to what Peter would have gotten if bitten by a radioactive gecko/ant
no webshooter is much better idea, why would webs comes out in his wrists? why peter make that hand gestures if he don't have buttons like in webshooter? also the combination of webs in webshooter makes much sense than organic webs.
@@ian3087 you could argue that the gesture is to squeeze some web gland, similar to how some people can squirt saliva sublingually with tongue gestures (I believe the technical term is gleeking). Also actual spiders can create different types of web organically so why would a half-human-half-spider mutant not be able to?

Spiders have different holes for every type of web they emit, peter only have one (it is not even a hole in the movie). And squeezing web gland? that doesn't make any sense. Why he don't accidentally emit webs when clenching his fist or holding something? in webshooter that is not a problem, it is designed to not accidentally shoot webs.

When I was a kid I didn't watch Spider Man 2 completely and kinda had a Mandela effect, so I was under the impression that the web-shooters were an alternative Peter built when he lost his powers.

The organic web shooters mae the MOST sense. Gets but by a spider, but doesn't get the ONE trait spiders are known for? So he sticks to walls, has strength disproportionate to his body size, and has heightened senses. He could be ant man, or stinkbug man, or dung beetle man. It makes zero sense to have it any other way. Plus, the mechanical web shooters don't give way to stories about Peter having trouble with his new body, like the web block that he needs to overcome emotionally.

In a world with a man who is electrified, a man who is made of sand, an alligator man and also in the marvel universe. I don't see why Spiderman needs webshooters hence why Toby's superman is the most realistic and canon to me. I have a feeling they made webshooters jus so they can make merch in the future.

My idea as to why no one else has made webs, and why he only ever made them AFTER becoming Spider-Man, is that the spider changed him and he subconsciously understood how to make it, like he had a desire to because he's a spider but his body can't produce it. Makes sense to me, just think about it like his Spider sense drove him to make it

They could have given Spider-Man organic webbing at first and then have the spinnerets damaged in battle or something so Peter would have to resort to web slingers. Lots of things they could have compromised on.

Try to watch Japanese Spiderman or Supaidaman, you gotta love the entertainment it brings. It is also surprisingly a canon because of the spider-verse. There also rumors that he will be part of spider verse 2 which made me very excited.
It's never made sense to me why other spiderman need a device that shoot webs . If you have spider powers it only makes sense your body would produce the web.

I prefer the biological webslinger, in my mind it seems way more reasonable that if a spider bite makes peter strong/fast/climb like a spider that it would give him a new way to generate web. The mechanical webslingers just seem like lazy writing like 'oh yeah this high school kid just built these impossibly tiny super durable ultra powerful webslingers that fire a homemade liquid chemical that transforms into rope that is as strong as steel in his room with a soldering gun, some left over electronics and half a tube of lube' kinda makes the whole spider bite pointless. Yes ii know the built webslingers are the original but to me the biological ones are the best.

For me the organic web shooters make the most sense. Because he was mutated by the spider bite to have all the other powers, why not web shooters too? Also how does he even come up with the idea to make web shooters? Like I get that he's a genius, but being a genius doesn't mean you'll think of something that crazy. Imagine yourself getting super strength, and all of a sudden thinking "you know what, I'm gonna make some spiderweb shooters and swing from shit."

Without the organic webs, Spider-Man’s powers kinda lose their uniqueness. Sure, he got bit by a spider, but without webs, he could call himself any other animal with similar abilities. There are plenty out there.

I like how realistic the three spider men are. In toby instead of a high school student making artificial webbing he just has it in his power. Andrew just turned a potato canon but for webs into a bracelet and Tom made his by randomly putting together chemicals in chemistry, then Tony made the real ones and Tom also had a prototype
