  • One small addition: diamonds spawn under lava as frequently as under water. With fire resistance potions you may find bigger veins under lava pools.

  • If you find a lava pool and go into F3 on the right hand of your screen it says what block your looking at even through lava. I used this and got up to 7 diamonds in one lava pool from it!

  • I think I mine at -53 because there are not many lava lakes, and if so, you just hit the top platform of the lava lake.

  • SOMETHING SUPER IMPORTANT! Doing this gave me at the minimum, 3 times more diamonds. GET FORTUNE III ASAP! Before i had fortune III, i would only get about 15 diamonds per mining trip. Now, i get stacks per mining trip. It makes getting diamonds so much more easier, its def worth getting all the XP and bookshelves to enchant it.

  • You'll want 'Aqua Affinity' on your helmet as well as 'Respiration'. You'll mine faster, as well as hold your breath longer. Without Aqua Affinity it'll take a lot longer to mine the diamonds, and you'll have to come up for air before you've got all the diamonds in the cluster.

  • i don't mind branch mining as i'll use alot of the materials to build stuff with later on. Wether it's bridges over lava in the nether or bridging the void in the end, for that you might need lots of material too. Not the most efficient way to get diamonds, but one of the first things i'll make is a villager breeder and trading hall. By the time i have enough diamonds for several pickaxes, shovels and a set of armor, i'll have material for those buildings and then it's high time to get a general mob farm, a pumpkin+melon farm and an iron farm to supply myself with enough xp and trades to get emeralds. From there the world is mine :D

  • A great way to fix the slowness of the crawl mining for me personally is by bringing a water bucket and sprint swimming into the one block gap, it’ll let you go into the block and you’ll be moving as fast as you normally swim, it’s instant and easy to do. This also allows you to crawl mine on bedrock edition.

  • A mistake I see virtually every reviewer make is that they try to optimize their shafts to catch all diamonds. What you want is to maximize the return of diamonds for your time. Whether you miss a few here and there because you didn't cover 'all' the blocks, is frankly of utterly zero consequence, as long as you got as many diamonds as possible for your time. To that end, my shafts have three un-excavated block rows between them, not two like so many others. I used to do over and under shafts back when the probability of diamonds on higher levels was equal, but now that the probability is highest at the lower levels, I only do the lower set of shafts. Finally to minimize the probability of lava interrupting my shafts, I mine at -54 which is the level the bottom most lava pools spawn at. If my shaft exposes lava, it will be at my feet; I pour water over it, pick the water back up and continue shaft mining.

    • Yes!! I have been a preacher of the 3-block thick wall for a while. Even though you leave the middle row of blocks unexposed, the odds that there is a one-block thick vein of ore hiding in there is quite slim. It’s just smarter!

    • And since they tend to spawn in a 2x2x2 cube, you'll still see it if you leave three rows inbetween. As for lava, if its only waist high, I'll dump water behind me so it freezes as I mine through it. I'm picky about having my tunnels perfectly straight😅

  • I strip mine just above the deep slate. Use a silk touch pickaxe to trade the smooth stone to masons for emeralds. fortune for any of the ores. Keep anything you want, sell the rest.

  • when you farm at -57 you are way more liekly to hit Lava and have to go around or up. when you just stay at -53 or -52 you are at the Typical hight of lava seas which means you find more caves which are alwys more effective to find diamonds and you dont get as smuch interrupted

  • Both strip mining methods are faulty. The first one actually theoreticallly mines less area because there are points where one potential vein is covered twice (where the bottom right and top left of adjacent tunnels are. The second has the same problem just worse.

  • 2:58 or if you don't have respiration helmet or a turtle helmet you ca either Java: use doors, trapdoors and water buckets Or Bedrock: use a magmablock that you can easly find in the overworld too by the broken portals, standing on it will make you get air bubbles 😀
