Oak and maple writing desk with steel leg. It's in the same room as the oak bed. Tung oil finish tinted with oil art paint. The final layer is tung oil with carnauba wax.

  • Especially impressive is the grain matching of the drawer fronts balanced with the scalloped quarter sawn sides. Craftsmanship is excellent and the eclectic music pleases this musician's ears. "Good on ya, Mate" as the Aussies say.

  • At one point I was thinking that the stain was a bit too dark, and I wasn't quite sure about the metal legs, but the final result is beautifully balanced and proportional. Great work!

  • Some very odd choices where Yurii would take the far longer way to chisel out sections that could have been machined but I guess the rough touch of hand carved work has its own charm and that is why I am torn when he added the metal legs although wooden legs would have never been able to achieve the same level of robustness and sleekness at that size so that is understandable because the end result is so well balanced. And the unstained portions of cabinets always leave me feeling incomplete. Love the overhead shots. Its a wonderful desk. Brand new and it already looks like it has heritage and character of an antique... its beautiful

  • That contrasting grain pattern on the top front board is an interesting touch. Personal signature? I agree with many others on here that the cupped detail looks amazing-- you have superb control of your chisel for those (such craftsmanship is certainly not in my future!). I'm a retiree who butchers and tortures wood with the best of intentions ("the road to Hell is paved with good..."). Apparently, though, there is no Hippocratic Oath for woodworking "First: Do no harm." So, I'm kinda safe... (wood isn't). Anyway, it's always a pleasure watching a master craftsman performing his magic.
