Lacie Tibbs I taught my horse how to canter backwards. Now we’re trying do small cross rails backwards....usually he just bucks to his back feet over and if I hand on then he swings around and plants his front feet in front of the jump.

This is to all the people complaining about racing. Though I don’t agree with racing, that doesn’t mean all of it is bad. That also means that racers don’t need to be appreciated. Dare I say it but they are equestrians just like the rest. Yes, most racing industries are extremely abusive but there are a few out there that probably treat their horses like royalty.

I love everything BUT the racing industry. Edit: Yes I know that other sports do this as well! I hate the abuse in ALL sports. I just get very passionate about the racing industry because my horse was a OTTB. I know that not everyone is a bad person in the industry, I’m focusing on the factors that the industry could DEFINITELY improve on. I didn’t want to offend anyone. I’m just sticking up for the abuse of horses, if your offended that’s fine. I don’t see why you would be.
There is nothing wrong with the racing industry. Yes there's bad people in it but there are in everything. Don't criticise every racer because of others.
lauren brown 37 horses have died this year.. since November . This is just on one race track. Santa Anita. Over 1000 horses are killed annually and over 90% are drugged(Laysix). Not to mention but they are trained near 18 months, when their skeletal systems aren’t even fully developed. If you paid attention to the facts then you would notice how abusive it is. Just because people have been doing it for years doesn’t make it right, it’s still abuse. And yes there are good people who don’t drug their horse.. but most of them do it (for the money obviously) I recommend you look up undercover investigations on the racing industry before you comment about something you clearly don’t know about. Wolfygamer2008 24 I know. It’s crazy. So many people support it and it’s so obvious how the horses are treated. People want to say it’s okay because we’ve been doing it for years. I think people should stop being so selfish and look at it how the horses are treated. There is so much evidence that we could stop the industry, but it just has so many followers. I also have an OTTB.. she is secretariat’s great granddaughter (pretty cool we just found that out). But when I’m working with her she has had what I think flashbacks and PTSD where she will just freak out for no reason. My trainer said the same thing. When they found her she was skin and bones. It was so sad, but she is an amazing horse. We are still working on one lead because she’s only been taught to run on one side.
