Some people don't know about bulls beyond the "take the bull by the horns" quote. If you have ever been chased by one or have lived in an area where bullfighting is legal, you sure don't fall into that category. Bulls are male cattle- that everyone knows- how about we tell you something new? From the Marchigiana Bull to the Braham, here's an interesting list of the
20 biggest bulls in the world.

  • I grew up on a farm/ranch and we were given a Holstein Bull calf by our friends who owned a dairy. The calf was born with rickets, which is a bone disorder and the dairyman thought that as the calf grew he would not be able to walk and he didn't want to spend the money and time to fix one calf. We brought it home and my sister and I took care of it, we named him Calfcalf btw, sounds stupid but we were kids! Well, Calfcalf started growing and the splints my dad made for him worked really good because soon he was running around playing with us! We loved Calfcalf! When he was fully grown his legs were as straight as arrows and because he was raised by two little girls he was as gentle as a kitten! We rode him like our horses and treated him with tons of love, and in the end he was 1200 or so lbs and the day came when we came home from school and Calfcalf went from the field to the freezer. We cried our heads off, but Calfcalf tasted wonderful!

    • I'm a city girl who knos NOTHING about farm life. But my 2nd yr in college my roommate was a girl who grew up on one of th largest dairy farms (back in th 70s) in Michigan, & it was a 3rd generation farm for her family. She told me about 4H fairs & raising calfs as a pet, & then her dad or grandpa wud hav it made into steaks. I freaked out at first!🤤 But then I spent a weekend out on their farm & I quickly learned: farm animals are not dogs or cats, they are animals expressly raised for food! I cud never do it, but then I wasn't raised on a farm. It goes w-th territory I guess. I'm just glad SOMEONE can do it cuz I like bacon🥓 & eggs🍳 & Hamburgers🍔! Best wishes, frm Detroit, Michigan, USA.

    • Children can work miracles! 🤎 (My grandson named his kitten, “Kitty.” But he had a speech impediment which is normal for a lot of kids. It resolved itself by 1st grade or so. He pronounced his “K’s” and hard “C’s” like a “T.” Hence, his sister, Kyley, was Tyley. And the kitten was….yep….Titty! 😂 We were such awful parents/grandparents that we let it go and secretly howled about it. Titty is old now. And even though my grandson has perfect speech, the whole family still calls that sweet old cat “Titty.” 🤎 I think kids should name everything!

  • Bulls are just so amazing, weight and all. When I was like 5 our Bull Henry a Black Angus went like 1500 lbs, they told me, and said stay away from Henry. Yeah tell a kid to stay away so there is Henry in the pasteur, he did not like adults and no one know if her would take to kids. But hey that did not stop my. I ran to him shouting his name Henry Hentry looked at me, like WTH is this he turned around my grandpop, uncle and pop like were Oh crap he is going to kill me. Henry stood his ground as I ran up to him yelling his name and then without thinking Henry put his head down like I will toss this thing up in the air. I just grabbed his head and kissed him and I love you Henry. dead silence from Henry and the adult men and women folk. I just held on and hugged him as much as i could get with my lil arms. slowly he moved his head up, looked me in the eyes and I said again I love you Henry and kissed his snout agin. From then on Henry was my BFF and walked with me like a big dog. Henry would still go after my pop, uncle and grandpop and the women but me, he could not wait till he saw me run to me and his his hugs and kisses and hear the words I love you Henry. Smiling and crying. He is at the bridge, died like the cows on their own, never killed, buried on the farm by their favorite trees. Be nice, be careful and let them know they are respected and loved, be surprised.

  • I'm in Central Queensland, Australia. The most common type of cattle here are Brahman types. They cope better with the subtropical climates, have a thick hide to protect them from the spear grass, are drought resistant and tick resistant. There's a big problem with ticks here. They often get crossed to other breeds to create new breeds. The droughtmaster is popular and so is Brangus. This is a cross between Brahman and Angus.

    @reswobiandreaming3644@reswobiandreaming3644 Жыл бұрын
    • is the droughtmaster related to the beefmaster? I'm from south texas so kinda curious

      @taylorwiggins2797@taylorwiggins2797 Жыл бұрын
    • I am absolutely surprised that you have any kind of an Angus bloodline in Australia. We have a lot of Black Angus here in Nebraska we have a lot of rain here and they don't have to walk very far to eat all they want and we have a lot of feed lots. How much rain are you getting? I always thought you'd have something to look more like a longhorn from the old west because you didn't have the rainfall to support a cow like an Angus it looks like a stick of butter.

      @markmcgoveran6811@markmcgoveran6811 Жыл бұрын
    • @@taylorwiggins2797 The droughtmaster and the beefmaster seem to be similar in the sense that they were created by crossing Zebu or Brahman cattle with British type cattle because the latter don't cope well with tropical or hot arid environments. They are from two separate breeding programs though.

      @reswobiandreaming3644@reswobiandreaming3644 Жыл бұрын
    • @@markmcgoveran6811 I'm not sure how much rain we get here on average. Usually what happens is that the tropical pattern of a wet monsoonal season and a dry season is followed. The wet season usually breaks between October to December and the dry season starts in April. The last few years have been unusual though. Sometimes the wet season was late and at least one year there wasn't a wet season. Now it's been raining since November last year! It sounds like you are thinking of the tropical North, like Northen Queensland and the Northern Territory, specifically the Top End. They only have Zebu type cattle up there because that is what thrives in those harsh conditions. We used to have something called a Kimberley longhorn which was replaced by the Brahmans. It looks very similar to a Texas longhorn. They are now quite rare but those huge cattle stations up north are unfenced and some cattle go rogue. When I was up there I saw a Kimberley longhorn join a herd of droughtmasters which indicates there are pockets of them hidden in the bush. Any of them that are mustered up just get turned into pet food or the Aboriginals eat them. The furthest north I've seen a Hereford was in Gympie. The British type cattle are kept primarily in the south east states. There are a lot of black Angus in Tasmania, which has a climate similar to some European countries with a mild winter. Angus has been in Australia for long enough to develop its own variants. In Victoria a silvery grey mutation appeared and from these the Murray Grey was developed.

      @reswobiandreaming3644@reswobiandreaming3644 Жыл бұрын
    • @@reswobiandreaming3644 thank you for the information. Most of the information I get about Australia is from the movies and a few people I've met that live there. It's a huge place and no one person would live long enough to really know the whole thing. Same thing here. Very few Brahma cattle are in Nebraska. Too cold in the winter. We got lots of Angus cattle and they look like a stick of butter with a little short legs. They would not do well having to forage in a desert scenario. We get lots of rain here and it's not monsoon it's just kind of random. If it rains a lot in the springtime we have a lot of brome grass. It's a cool season grass so it grows the most in the spring when it's cool. If you get a lot of rain in the springtime that brown grass is waist deep almost and thick and lush. When you get West of me quite a ways, the Pickens get a little slim for grazing cattle and there are leggier breeds. The holsteins in this video were almost unrecognizable. I used to go to a dairy farm and just buy raw milk right out of the tank and there were a lot of holsteins there that were all udder. I walked in the barn one time and they had the bull penned up in the barn. That Holstein bull was long and lean and extra mean. He was behind the wall from me that I could see through and the second I stepped in that door he let out a snort, and his lungs sounded like a blacksmith bellows sucking air. Generally Holstein cattle that are being milked are pretty mellow they're used to being handled. Long ago I heard about a cow called a brown Swiss. It was a dairy breed that was built like an Angus. It didn't give a lot of milk but it did give a high fat content milk. They may still be milking a brown Swiss somewhere but I haven't seen one in a couple decades.

The older bigger bull told the other two that 75 of the 90 cows in the pasture belonged to him; the middle bull said well 13 of the remaining bulls belong to him; then the younger bull said well I guess I'll take the other two. One day the rancher backed his trailer up to the fence and off stepped a huge seven foot tall two ton Brahma bull. The older bull said "I think I've been a bit greedy, I'm will to share some of my cows with him; The middle bull said "yeah me too". About that time the younger smaller bull started snorting and clawing and charging around the pin. The other two older bulls looked at the younger bull and said "hey man, are you out of your mind, you need to cool it, that Brahma will kill you". The young bull looked at the other two and said "I just want to make sure that he knows that I'm a bull".

  • Main reason why I swore off beef is the fact their lives end in a very short time period just for the sake of someone eating a hamburger. The same goes for pigs as well. I'm very happy I chose this route and feel better about myself too. One of our most important regions in the world in terms of oxygen production is the Amazon basin. However, it is being ransacked by illegal logging and cattle ranching. I believe we should exert more pressure on the Brazilian government to do something about it. This environmental disaster is literally cutting off our oxygen supply with the added killing of numerous rare and endangered animal and plant species that call the Amazon their home. I call the Amazon and other rain forests our planet's lungs. Human habitat degradation is accelerating, leaving many species extinct or close to it. Many people could care less because their self gratification comes first and to hell with future generations.
