Somi is a solo artist signed to BlackLabel, which is Teddy Park's company (YG Entertainment) who is Blackpink's producer. Somi is very close to the Blackpink ladies.

JEON SOMI a 20 year old Korean/Dutch-Canadian Solo Artist 1. Competed in Sixteen (the group that debuted TWICE) but she was eliminated on the final round because JYP said she was too young. Shes 14 during that time 2. Won 1st place in Produce 101 and debuted as IOI’s Lead Vocalist, Lead Dancer, , Center, Maknae (Youngest)and Face Of The Group at the age of 15. 3. After IOI’s contract ended, she participated in SSD2, debuting in the group UNNIES with 2NE1’s Minzy and other queens. 4. She also participated in IDOT afterwards and debuted in project group GIRLS NEXT DOOR with Seulgi of Red Velvet, Moonbyul of MAMAMOO ,Yooa OhMyGìrl and other queens. 5. After GIRLS NEXT DOOR and UNNIES promotions ended, she went back to JYP to train as ITZY’s center 🤷♀️. She also did tons of CFs and won CF of the Year in korea and even worked with Calvin Klein alongside GOT7’s Jackson and Jinyoung. She also MCed in The Show with X1/UP10TION’s Wooshin/Wooseok 7. Back in 2018 she left JYP because she wanted to pursue a songwriting/music production career. She was then signed under (YG )THEBLACKLABEL as a solo artist and now a song writer too. 8.When she's 18, She debuted with her hit single (BIRTHDAY) in June 13, 2019. •with her first self written and conposed song (OUTTA MY HEAD) 9. Since her debut, Somi has worked with VOGUE, ELLE, KissMe, Louis Vuitton, Dior, and many others. 10. Prior to her very first comeback JULY 2020 , She release(WHAT YOU WAITING FOR) , •She also had a youtube series called (I AM SOMI)🤘 •she was also signed under the American label and home to Blackpink, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish,Madonna , Katy Perry and Eminem and Dababy -INTERSCOPE Records 🔥 Now she's coming back with another banger (DUMB DUMB )which also co written by her. •She also working on her album since last year and definitely gonna release it this year🖤🤘
There was this survival show called "produce 101" where trainees compete to debut a new group at the end of the show and Somi was one of the girls that debuted in the group (2016) i didnt watch it but as i know she was at 1st place. The group disbanded in 2017 and she debuted as a solo artist in 2019 with the song "birthday" then 2020 "what you waiting for" (i love that song) and now 2021 "dumb dumb" Edit : The group from produce 101 was called I.O.I
and before that she was on another survival show called Sixteen, made by JYPE, and he wanted to choose the trainees who would debut on Twice and thats where she got known in the first place. after IOI disbanded she went back to JYP and she was supposed to debut with itzy but something happened i guess because she left jyp and started her solo career

Somi is a soloist, she's really close friends with the members of Blackpink and Twice ! she used to be in a kpop group called IOI too
Somi was one of the first soloist that I started to stan hahaha love her and this song is really catchy. For more choreography reaction, I believe you'll like Chung Ha and Dreamcatcher and Loona.
Somi was in I.O.I, she was the Main Dancer so she's such a good dancer. And now she's just a solo artist
I think you'll love Chungha (she is also a solist and one of the best dancers in KPOP in my opinion)

I don't know much about somi's history but I'm pretty sure she came out of a survival show called produce 101 and won? correct me if I'm wrong but then she was in a girl group called I.O.I but disbanded. she then trained in JYP and was supposed to debut with itzy, idk what happened but what I know is that she isn't in the company anymore and is now under THEBLACKLABEL under YG and becoming very successful as a soloist!
And before produce 101, Somi was participating in the survival show for Twice (just as Chaeryeong, now member of itzy and her sister chaeyeon, former izone member)... she was the last girl to not make the cut.
It's quite incorrect. She was a JYPE trainee for two years when JYP started the show Sixteen in 2015 where Twice was formed. Somi was in there and stayed in the finals. She was top nine in voting but JPY did not choose her as part of Twice because she was still young (14 international age). She joined Produce 101 and it was aired sometime in January 2016 where she won as the center of IOI. It disbanded in 2017, then JYP did not know what to do with her career. He put her in a project variety show Unnies Season 2 with Minzy and formed another temporary project group. They released 2 songs then the show ended. She later on joined Idol Drama Operation Team and made another temporary group Girl Next Door. Imagine her always in a temporary group. She probably felt her career is going nowhere and scared of temporary projects. She left JYPE in 2018, hoping for a better career in TBL. Glad she did leave that company.
Personally, for me anyone who knows how to do the hand step is already a superior dancer. I've been trying since the video came out, and I can't, my arms and fingers weren't designed for this.
Somi started out in a girl group I.O.I, but then later they had to departure because it was a way of promoting them to start their careers.

Fact: Way back 2015 Somi was formerly part of the Survival show called "Sixteen" where they making new girl group called "Twice-The 9 girls you react" but Somi got eliminated.
Somi is actually under Blacklabel company (a subsidiary of YG Entertainment). Blacklabel's CEO is Teddy Park (YG's Producer) who is also the main producer of Blackpink.

Jeon Somi was on a survival show called produce 101 where she won first place and got titled the center of the later formed group I.O.I which consisted of 11 members (including her) sadly their contract ended in 2017, so the time span of 2017 to 2018 Somi used her time to join shows or other projects then later debuted as a soloist in 2019 with her song 'birthday' along with a b-side called 'outta my head'! 2020 she dropped her song 'what you waiting for' and fast forward to 2021 'dumb dumb' came along! also somi is hinting of a soon to come album so that's exciting lmao!

Somi is a solo artist ,she was in two survival programs before ,one of the shows was with the famous GG(twice) but she got eliminated and the second with( ioi )and she debut with them as the center of the group , after there promotions they disbanded, and Somi was inactive for a while and then she make a smart decision by leaving her company ( JYP ) and join Black label by (Teddy) BLACKPINK producer ,and her she is a Solo artist
I recommend watching some of Chung Ha's videos. Her song play, stay tonight and bicycle are really good. I especially love the dances.
Jeon Somi was actually in the survival show "sixteen" which was à show to form twice. Sixteen jyp trainees competed to be in the final line up of twice, unfortunately she ranked 11 and didn't debut with twice. Then a year later, she went on another survival show :produce 101 (101 girls competing to form a group) in which she literally topped the ranking during the whole show. Finishing 1st, she debuted as IOI's center and promoted for 1 year. Then the group disbanded (it was a temporary group meant to last a year) and she came back to jyp. She was in the itzy line up as we can see in pre debut pictures but for an unknown reason she left jyp and got into theblacklabel, a yg sublabel managed by teddy park (blackpink producer). She had three singles : birthday, what you waiting for and dumb dumb as a soloist. She a korean Canadian idol so that's why her songs have a lot of English in them.

She used to in the group named I.O.I which came from survival+reality program call Produce101,she is the frist center of the program series and because they came from survival program that make the members came from differant company so they active the group just 1year, after disband she become to solo artist . *sorry for my english it not my language.
So…the MV and song is representing her duality. The OUTER APPEARANCE of Somi wanting to impress the guy by being so charismatic and aggressive. Then the TRUE SOMI, who does have her insecurities and habits/mannerisms like being a scaredy cat or having a small appetite. However, she isn’t playing DUMB DUMB….she is playing him or making him notice her by being overly flirty, mysterious, and innocent at the same time. This girl knows what she’s doing and she is calling him DUMB DUMB because he’s not totally picking up on her signals. That’s why she is showing the different situations/“meetings” with the cute guy cuz she really is trying to get inside his head. LOL! it’s that cat and mouse game or push and pull game when you like someone and you want to know if they like you back. Somi gets her answer by the end of the MV, when the cute guy asks her to come to the football game. Then the comic/animation shows Somi and the cute guy in their THE HAPPY ENDING. 👍
Here's a bit of Somi's story :) She was on the survival show Sixteen (which created twice) when she was under Jyp Entertainment back in 2015. Sadly she didn't make the lineup of twice and was eliminated on the final episode. (she was only 14 at the time!!) Then, still under Jyp ent, she went on another survival show called produce 101 and finished 1st(!!!!!) and debuted in the now disbanded group ioi. (15 at the time) Then, she was set to debut with Itzy, but she left Jyp. I believe the reason has never been published, if it has, I probably haven't seen it. So she was replaced with Yuna from Itzy. Then she joined the Black Label, the company created by Teddy Park who is Blackpink's producer so you can say that she's technically under YG. And she debuted as a soloist with her song "Birthday". Then, she came out with "What you Waiting For", and now with "Dumb Dumb" (all bops bdw). I've been a kpop fan since early 2019 and was (and still am) a big fan of Twice. Ever since I watched Sixteen, I really liked Somi, she's talented, pretty and charismatic. And I was so happy to see that a few months later, she debuted!! She's my favourite Soloist :) (along with Chungha, also used to be in ioi bdw) and she's went through a lot as you can see, so I really like how she never gave up and now is so successful!! Queen Somi!!

I think a year or 2 maybe she left JYP (the company she was in during all this) and signed with The Black Label, which is a sub-label of YG (the company Blackpink is under, fun fact she's actually very close with the members of Blackpink :D). This is her 2nd comeback, her last being What You Waiting For, and her debut being Birthday. I hope you react to her more in the future!~

Oh and I also recommend you to check out IZ*ONE, their choreography is marvelous✨ they already disband btw They was a group that formed through similar survival show (Produce 48) where Somi make her debut (I.O.I - Produce 101 Season 1) And one of the member, Lee Chaeyeon (IZ*ONE Main dancer) is currently join a street dance survival show called Woman Street Fighter ... she haven't re-debut yet so she currently still a trainee
