In terms of striking, Leon landed way more significant and harder strikes than Usman. It was very hard for Usman to take Leon down and even when he did get Leon down, he couldn't even hold him down.

Its not like that,usman is finished. Leon is a technical fighter. Usman is a great wrestler with power in hands. But power will land to guys like masvidal who was taunting usman in that fight like it won't hurt him,masvidal is very good standup fighter but he is less technical than leon. Leon have good kick also. Leon worked so much on grappling. Usman doesn't have ground games too means he can lay but gnp,submission nothing. Khamzat will have hard time wrestling usman but he can knock him out. Usman is now gatekeeper of 170 pound div,its official.

Why does nobody consider that Leon might have won the 3rd round after the point deduction, leaving it at 9-9? So many of these guys just chalk that up as 10-8 Usman, but it was a close round and Leon finished it stronger

Life comes at you fast usman was literally 1 minute and some change away from closing that chapter on Leon Edwards for good last fight, to losing two fights in a row to Leon and most likely not getting another title fight until that belt is out of Leon’s hands.

Was it unanimous I'm just coming in and finding out what's going on I originally had Edwards winning by knockout and two rounds I know that was a stretch but that's just what I felt at the time

Leon simple proved that Usman wasn't that great to begin with. Now everyone is finally waking up. Colby and Jorge are journeyman, simple. Usman had the easiest run against washed up fighters.
I don’t think it was a clear decision. It was definitely close. From everyone I talked to, it looks like roughly 50% had it Leon and 50% had it Usman. I’ve been watching fights since around 2006, and I had it a draw. But with these types of close fights, I could see it going either way. We should all rewatch it to make sure we know what we saw. I know I will.

People will try as hard as possible to discredit Leon. He grabbed the fence for one takedown but what about all the takedowns that he stuffed fair and square?
Eye poke, nut shot 2x, CRITICAL fence grab. Alot of cheating happened but I don't think any of it changed the outcome. The fence grab was bad tho. Usman had him turned to the center away from the fence. I don't think Usman would have done too much with it once on the ground.
Arguably the most shameful performance in a championship fight cheating wise. Just blatant cheating
Usman is a cheat himself, if we were the ones in there there would be things we would do 100% that’s fighting, what’s your excuse for all the take downs defended after the point deduction where after no cheating took place and Leon was even more dominant

Usman didn’t do enough to win. Leon won 1,4,5. Usman 2. Even 3. Leon connected with now damaging shots, stopped usman being his usual self
Yeah, two judges had it 48-46, and I think that was the right score.

How much does this team work? They go from pre-fight interviews to working during fights, to post-fight, to this close-out. Crazy stamina!
It was definitely a close fight and I was rooting for Usman to beat/dominate Leon and regain the title by decision, but Leon hands down has beaten Usman in this trilogy matchup, landing the more significant and damaging shots and showed good takedown and wrestling defense and ability to quickly scramble back up when taken down

Whenever Usman fought and DC was in Commentator boot he was always with Usman giving him all the credits and when Usman landed a shot he will often make it very loud and clear. For example, when Usman and Colby fought for the first time. He was so invested in Usman that it became difficult for him to judge the fight and not be biased. The disappointment in his face doesn't lie.
My God DC is so biased towards certain fighters. It’s so annoying hearing him when he is commentating and one of his boys is fighting

Kamaru was not the same fighter this time around... Nobody really is after they go to sleep like he did in the second fight.
I don't think it was that...I think elevation played a part in the last fight, and he(Usman) thought he could just do the same things. He's evolved as far as he could..his game plan didn't work. His game plan with Colby was the only fight where he really kept is all standing, and he did that twice, even after getting pieced up by Colby in certain rounds. I'm not arguing that the kick wasn't in the back of his mind, but that's why he was constantly trying to raise his arm up when the kicks came. I think if Leon really trained for the elevation in the previous fight we would've seen a different fight. Leon was tired by the second round, after having Usmans back the whole first round.

Different sport. Hardly any fighters in MMA actually feel that way. It’s just a carryover sentiment from boxing. Teddy Atlas made that statement a few months back in a post fight show and Bisping and others roasted him for it. Lol

The problem with the ufc in-between rounds is they won't always show the best highlights and usually its equal 2-2 highlight for each fighter even though the other fighter coulda had more moments its makes it seem closer of a fight than it actually is

Usman himself has said he's got 2 fights left in him, and given his age, what's he going to do? Sit out and wait for Edwards to get beat and then jump back in? Any fight he takes in the meantime will tick off what he's got left in him and make it less likely he will make another run at #1.

I don’t have an issue with either scorecard from DC or Brett. I had it 47-47 with the 2nd and 3rd going to Usman. But the 2nd could have easily gone to Leon bc it was a close round with him landing slightly cleaner again in the round.

I haven't read through this thread in its entirety, but at some point does anyone point out that like the first 4 rounds of their 2nd fight, this was a lousy fight? I am not into blood and guts, but I want to see more effort, more resolve to fight. And yes, I do know what it feels like to fight in the ring.
Usman has slowed down - he looked like a fighter coming off a really bad ko - the headshot ko has done so much damage to Usman both mentally & physically
