  • Congratulate to Sakkari, but I think she should have been more honest with her opponent and herself. That ball was clearly touching her racquet and it's nothing like a double bounce. She could notice that.

    • @@jakehogg3639 top players for me are Iga, Aryna, Krejcikova, and Ribakina. Stop! We're heading towards a fab-4 scenario in the WTA where almost all major titles are theirs. Sakkari needs to beat these 4, not other so-called "top players" to win titles. To become a top player you need to win major titles (Slams and Finals) and as of now she has none, not even a 1000....

  • Pliskova was part of that 2010 generation with azarenka, mugu, aggie, svitolina, halep, and a late blooming kerber, but at the same time, serena was still playing at her long reign of prime.

  • I don't recall any WTA player, with a physique like Sakkari. And it's interesting, because Pliskova has this 'classical' tennis shape to her, long, thin, athletic. Off the top of my head, Sakkari has all sorts of intangibles from her training, the most important is that she has this power thing to both sides. From the tennis watcher, point of view, she's very very exciting. She went up the middle, in the beginning of the match, on a put away. THAT is why Sakkari is a big draw, at the 7th seed. I hope she continues to climb.

  • Pliskova is past her prime. I think her title winning days are over. The younger generation has passed her by. She would now be lucky to win a 250 level tournament. Her problem is her movement and she hits the ball too flat which doesn't give her much room for error.

    • Agree. I was even thinking the same way when she was making slam finals. You always got the feeling that with such an old fashioned game in a world of athletes that are emerging with amazing speed and huge spin that her days are numbered. Still she’s had a good career

    • You rarely see a player, admits a fault in any sport.Usually is football, basketball, volleyball or water polo...And IF someone does is the exception on the rule which confirms the above...There is a possibility of course, that Sakkari didn' t feel touching the ball with her racket.Also, we didn' t have high definition videos before...How many points were called in/out by just using the umpires judgements and were not the right decisions in past years/decades...One point doesn' t make much difference.
