Go Anywhere, Transport Anything | BTR-50
The BTR-50 was the first tracked and amphibious Soviet-built armored personnel carrier (APC). It was developed from the desperate need of a more mobile APC, capable of keeping up with tanks in rough terrain and be able to operate in the difficult terrain of eastern and central Europe. Despite not having any weapons and being very vulnerable to enemy fire, it served for a long period of time within the Soviet and later Russian armed forces, but also in many other countries.

BTR-90: Who are you BTR-50: Your grandfather BTR-90: You don't look like my family at all BTR-50: I know
Your father is adopted :))
BTR-90 is a descendant of BTR-152. BTR-50 is father of BMP-1.
@@konstantinplotnikov966 BTR 50 is the true father of the MT-LB. It is literally the same thing but slightly improved
@@TanksEncyclopediaYT DEEP BREATHING: NYET COMRAD I AM YOUR MATUSHKA!
BTR-50 carrying the 76mm canon is pretty much a PT-76
Aw, I was quote enjoying the longer videos.
We know, but they're a pain to narrate and edit and they're not that popular (too nitty gritty). You can still find all of the info on our website.
@@TanksEncyclopediaYT Yeah, I get it. Just a bit of a shame I can't get all of it since I tend to listen to these while doing something else. I suppose I'll be checking the website then.
Same. I love listening to these in work or while getting to sleep.
@@peepsbates I think shorter is better
@@TanksEncyclopediaYT heck yeah. I'm in for the nitty gritty part. Such a shame not so many people shares the same interest 😂😂
20-30 minutes of essay video is the best duration for me. Much love to you, guys.
There are two types of people. (In my view the comment above you says to miss the longer videos)
fill them full of vertical launch cells and use them as AT, AA, or just rocket arty as long as it moves
Shorter form is good I guess, but I will miss the longer more in-depth ones too. :) Hard to find videos of this quality and with a good bit of humour too. :)
Indonesia marines still use BTR 50 that were made when My Grandfather still served in The Indonesia marines. Today The BTR 50 that were use on the Indonesia marines were Upgraded, the marines given A new engine and a new FN MAG Machine gun.
I guess it had to be able to carry 2000kg so it could lift ZIS-3 or ZIS-2 cannons and some ammunition.
Yes, even a Gaz 69
" Cyberattacks hit military, Parliament websites as India-based group targets Canada "
Where does the 20 man figure come from? If the early open-topped variants could only carry 12 men then how on Earth did they cram 20 men into the closed-topped variants? Is it just a lie based on the one test with 20 men riding it where it sank?
Keep up the good work!
I serve in command btr 50 as a radio operator
I saw some of these along with T-55s being rebuilt at Taji, Iraq back in 2005.
PERFEKTNE VIDEO
this APC is still the mainstay of my Nation’s Marine Corps😂
Egypt?
same for me as an indonesian here
Le me guess, it must be because btr 50 is basically the T 55 of amphibious tracked apc
Wait wait, in the roof version were the troops sitting arrangement still arranged in the same way like in the open top version?
Yes
And someone had the bright idea to attach it to the Ob.726's hull
I love these videos. However don't expect fantastic views on videos like this, because not everyone loves APCs.
Surprisingly, this one does really well! We expected it to flop! However, if you want to help us, like and subscribe :D
@@TanksEncyclopediaYT I've already liked and subscribed!
Not the best APC out there, but aaamaazing for antarctic exploration
Gaejoob pls add it as a stupid SPG because of the capability to use Zis and 85mm gun on it
7:37 keyword recommended which means you can still use it a floating State 😎
I want one
Your search feature currently sucks on site, i wanna read a list of titles, not all of the articles listed in post date. I want to get to the article i want.
Well, our search feature isn't the best thing, but I don't understand what you mean. If you put in the right search term (and we have an article), it will pop up in the first couple of articles. If we don't have it, c'est la vie. Also, if you want a certain article, why not go through the menu? It is really intuitively set up, chose the era, chose the nation, voila, list of articles.
Hello there!
Fun fact: Russia recently used BTR-50s on the assault for Avdiivka.

wargame red dragon anyone?
Ideal for atgm/manpad teams and for massing motostrelki
@@BabyGreen162 ideal for anything really, that 2FAV 5pts do be hitting different
when I push into an urban zone or a forest, I like to have BMPs as fire support :) btr-50 motostrelki are ghe best soviet choice for estabilishing a front line though
Someone.
South Africa coming soon. :D Can't wait for a new nation to be honest :D
I thought the one with track are called bmp?
BMP means IFV BTR means APC No relationship to wheels or tracks
@@TanksEncyclopediaYT how can i easily differentiate the two?
@@tuahsakato17 big pew pew (not reliable though) The difference is mainly doctrinal, so it is not 100% that a big pew pew gives a BMP.
@@TanksEncyclopediaYT hm interesting
Gaijin please, as rank I B.R. 1.0 SPAA
The ZTPU-2 and ZTPU-4 might actually work for that. Also, the Iraqi and Vietnamese conversions with autocannons.

Ivan in the back with an AK, shooting at planes
In that case I want a USA Jeep with a .50 cal as BR. 1.0 SPAA... Gotta relieve that mujahideen moments
Better than the M-113, ngl.
Welcome to Ukraine btr 50, your in for a bad time.
Bring back the T34s and IS-3s xD
“Of to gulag”? Only fans to gulag? I like this :b
woah early this time
MTLB's dad
Not really - the BTR-50P was built at Stalingrad Tractor Plant while the MT-LB was designed and built at Kharkov Tractor Plant in Ukraine.
And here's the nonsense about the GULAG, well, how without it💩🤦
For some reason I lost interest halfway.
