I once tried to do that on a rubik's cube. But for my defense, it wasn't to cheat. It was because it was a bad quality one where colors were actually stickers, and tons of them went off, so when I was trying to solve it there was tons of piece where I couldn't know which color it was supposed to be. So I thought about "rebooting" my cube. I was young though, and couldn't make it work with the material I had at hand.
