Just like every year, just as tradition holds, here I am once again, another year, another birthday, another celebration. Time passes by so fast that you honestly wish it would slow down. This is FACTS!
I was born in 1966, and have seen the Internet and GPS invented. I had personally met World War II veterans. I've seen amazing things in this world as a Merchant Marine Engineer that traveled the world. I came from nothing and have had a life I am so grateful for. Ah come on! Life can be tough, responsibilities can be quite the bitch, BUT adult hood can offer far more freedom than childhood. What most people miss about childhood is the psychological freedom from persistent worries and anxiety of trying to pay the bills and "figure your life out" and "adulting" etc... Well, speaking from experience(and I promise I am not trying to preach from on high and this isn't a "yay me" soap box, I just want to share my experience for your consideration because I'm a fellow human being and I care, take it or leave it), as a 36 y/o man it is possible to have the psychological freedom similar to a child and the REAL freedom of being in charge of your life that comes with adulthood, something most children do not (and should not) enjoy. For me, and I acknowledge that I am a lucky one, I found the sphere of human endeavor that I was passionate about when I was 19 y/o and have been pursuing it ever since. I'm currently pretty well positioned in my chosen career of localized regenerative agriculture. I never gave up and it's working out just about as good as I dreamed it could. It's bizarre that it ACTUALLY is working out, so long as I don't fuck it up, which is what it is to be an adult, I'm in charge of my story. Personally, I think people don't take seriously enough the urge to "help the world" and find community. It is derided as some cliché too often, and I think this is missing a very important part of human nature: The desire to feel community. Humans are truly social beings, we crave it, we miss it, we need it. Homo sapiens first show up in the fossil record, essentially identical to modern humans, about 300,000 years ago. And if the common understanding of how we existed in those spear chucking days is even close to correct then our bodies are literally designed to live in very tight knit social groups for our entire lives. Our bodies and our brains NEED community like a necessary nutrient, it isn't some idealist yearning, it's written in our bodies just as much as the need for healthy food or enough sleep is. In addition to needing community we also exhibit the need to fulfill a meaningful position within that community so that we feel like we are contributing to and taking care of that community. These 2 conditions are a package deal in human nature. So, what I'm getting at is maybe 2 or 3 things: 1) Cultivate community. Somehow. Just do it. if you like warhammer 40k then find a group doing the table top in your area, if you like gardening, go to gardening meetups. Get to know your neighbor and see if they want to grow some food together, anything just do it. Figure it out, you need it. 2) Find what you are passionate about or at least what you are good at and pursue it, hard. Find out what you have to offer yourself and the world in terms of what you are passionate about or good at and lean into it. And 3) Figure out what it means to that you are an organism inseparable from nature. The food I ate today and the oxygen I am breathing right now is metabolizing in my brain to allow me to type this word. You are a part of nature, the end. You are not some separate ego wrapped up in a bag of skin confronting a world that is somehow fundamentally "other" than you. You are woven into the fabric of reality just like a tree or star is. Figure out what that means to you. Fill the niche in the world community that leverages your abilities, interests and talents to the most thorough degree possible. Even if what you are good at isn't necessarily what you are passionate about it is still a way to gain economic stability which will give you more access to that coveted "Freedom". If you have a passion that "rational" thinking keeps making you believe you shouldn't pursue, give up that thought pattern. You have this life, between birth and death, to see what you can do. So just fucking do it. If you can get closer to these things you will find that adult life can have all the same inspired wonderment and aw of childhood AND the REAL freedom to write your own story. Maybe all this sounds far fetched. I'll just say that my life is starting to show me that it's possible. Age ain't shit. Let yourself believe, fuck it, shoot for the stars like you would have done without thinking as a kid. The reason you wanted to grow up in the first place, I'll wager, is that you couldn't conceive of a version of yourself that wasn't excited about all the infinite possibility of life AND you'll be able to do all things grown ups can do that kids can't. Somewhere along the way I'll bet you lost touch with that. It's still there my friend. When it's night time it doesn't mean the Sun has died, it's just out of view. The same is true for that child like aw and excitement that your comment seems to indicate you are missing. Find that sparkle my friend , it's there, waiting for you. I promise. I know this sounds manic, it isn't, life is what we make it. Yes, it's hard, it can be REAL hard. But, tell me, what else is there to do? You can resign yourself to the mundane suck, convincing yourself it's the most realistic expectation to cultivate, or, you can take seriously the fact you have agency in your own life and see what that really means by pursuing it, fearlessly. Life can be adventure if you want. The adventure of self actualization/realization, get to it.

I want this to be the last thing I’ll hear before passing away. I don’t want to let my family be depressed because I’m gone and I am no longer with them, I just want them to be happy because I existed in the first place, remembering the old memories, cherish the contributions I made, and overall, happy because I came here to bring happiness throughout my family. Sure there had been tough times and embarrassing moments, but in the end of the day, happiness helps recover almost everyone’s trauma.
I'm 58 and probably one of the oldest watching this, but I remember hearing this song coming from my son's room when he was a teenager. He's on his own now and doing fine but I miss those days having him around. This song always reminds me of him and I love it for that reason.

What I know about what this song is it's about people, friends, families, teams, heroes, heroines, and couples that help each other, look out for each other, have each other's backs, and take care of each other so that everybody's safe and sound. In the anime Kirby:Right Back At Ya in episode 99 Combat Kirby and 100 Fright To The Finish the final episode Kirby, the cappytown civilians, and the star warriors along with the bad guys King Dedede and Escargoon traveling into space together, working together, helping each other, looking out for each other, having each other's backs, and taking care of each other. Then Kirby and company enter the fortress of Nightmare Enterprises to stop and defeat EnEMee (Nightmare) and save the universe from the vile villain EnEMeE (Nightmare) who plans to conquer the universe. Things must come and go and im grateful that I grew up with these amazing shows, apps/games and other wonderful things that were brought into my childhood. They will always be in my head to remember how great my childhood was and how lucky I was.

That's so true man, I came to KZhead to listen to an "old" song and they I kept clicking on new songs I recognized, and then there was this one I didn't know which one was it, but as soon as it got to that beat I started singing along the beat. Man those times were awesome, listening to those songs on the radio, I was young too, didn't have much to do so I kept listening to those on the radio, I miss those times, the songs were the best ever 2010's (mostly 2010~2016), a bunch of good songs, thankfully I lived it to its fullest. Things were so simple, yet so nice. I like to remember those times. Now with the pandemic we just realize how lucky we were to live and grow up at those good times.

It has been a rough year this 2023, and 2024 doesn´t look like it's going to be a better year, but always I hear this song to remember we always gonna be "Safe and Sound", thanks Capital Cities for be part of my life, this song has been my favorite since you realesed. I'm always gonna be bless and thanksfull for this song. This 30 of april is my birthday and I'm gonna spend it alone and in anothe country like an imigrant for studies and this song will gonna be played to remember that maybe someday someone (or even myself) could show me what I want to see, and take you where I want to be. That you could be my luck and even if the sky is falling down I know that we'll be safe and sound.

@@gardengobin I really think we underestimated how good this pop was. It just oozes of nostalgia and positivity. Today’s pop is just repetitive and doesn’t have much diversity. Dua Lipa has been the one redeeming artist of the late 2010’s, she’s got a beautiful voice.

I’m literally so sad. Nostalgia is a feeling that hurts, but is beautiful. It hurts because you realize you could’ve lived that experience better, and it’s pain because it’s the irresistible wanting of going back. It’s beautiful because the warm memories of what you know you experienced and those times come back, it gives you hope.
