We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.
Washington is my favorite president. I have been lucky enough to have visited Mt. Vernon twice it is such a beautiful place.

I grew up in South Jersey...with the Revolutionary War almost literally in my back yard. Trips to Washington's Crossing, Valley Forge, and Independence Hall (when visitors were allowed to actually touch the Liberty Bell) sealed my love of history. A family outing in Gettysburg in 1963 shifted my focus from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. I enjoy the "In 4 Minutes" videos...keep 'em coming!
