I don't understand why the character needs to be completely changed with the same name? Would it not make more sense to do a similar movie with a different agent, who was this new character with her own name? And see if it floats. Why hijack an existing character and change it to someone completely different. It makes no sense. Has nothing to do with race or gender, it's just a weird thing to do in any circumstance, imho.

The fact that they assigned her the 007 name, means she was worthy of it. It’s like giving the number 23 to the ‘best’ basketball player, honouring Michael Jordan. Except the person was chosen based on checking all the boxes. The higher ups wanted to test the reaction while virtue signalling.

When has it ever been a possibility that bond would be a woman? Lashana lynch did not play bond, and will not play bond in the future. She was a completely separate character who took the 007 number from bond briefly due to bond no long working for MI6.
This was their attempt to check boxes and tailored to the woke crowd. The higher ups wanted to see how a totally different bond would be received.

And the fan based that kept this franchise going, me not being one of them, go to see a slick womanizing man fight bad guys. Now its a different movie. Not to mention when you dont have super powers involved, women fight scenes are rediculous. No one wants to watch a women get beat up so you have to make her a super hero even in realistic fiction. But at the end of the day, if you change a character, ots a different character. Wolverine is 5 ft tall in the comics, making him 6'2 changed the dynamic of his character. He no longer is the runt who looks up to tough guys the beats the crap out of them. And thats just when you change the height of a character. You change the gender, bond is no longer bond. In which case just make a different movie. (The tried with charlese therone and it failed). But they need to capitalize on the bond name and use it to push an agenda, which will be the down fall of the movie. No one wants to hear "shaken not stirred, and can you also get me equal pay."
