    @billmoline1467@billmoline14673 ай бұрын
    • Well since you asked, yes i could do it. I've been making gears and pinions of that size and much much larger up to 16 feet in diameter for over 30 years. So i can very easily scoff at their system of working. It cracks me up seeing comments proclaiming that these guys are "skilled craftsmen" which couldnt be farther from the truth. Their attention to details like surface finish and damage on the tooth lands and roots, run out, tooth geometry, and case hardening is laughable at best. What they are doing is a 1st year apprentice level skill set.

Well, funny you should ask... we actually sell them as avant-garde modern art installations! 😄 But in all seriousness, we're always looking for creative ways to repurpose them. Maybe one day we'll unveil our masterpiece made entirely of metal shavings! Thanks for pondering the mysteries of our workshop with us! 🛠️🎨

  • I always find it kind of repugnant when people assume that just because its old that its not accurate doesn't function well, that if its not computerized and shiny . Why would they be in business if they were producing machined components that didn't meet spec. I see micrometers, machinist rulers, and calipers being used. Just as anywhere else would be used. I have a lot of respect for this team of machinists, hobbers, and workman, in a less than ideal environment. I just wish they still taught this in high schools, instead of focusing on gender, and pronouns. Great job guys, you represent a nearly lost art in the US.
