  • I hope this video was informative. Please like and subscribe so KZhead can show this video to more viewers. I received a lot of questions about the thermal past I recommend. Link for the thermal past I used in the description.

    • Hey man. My laptop is Omen dc0052nr. Mine has the same problem of thermal throttling. The main problem is that one fan runs slower than the other. It is like 2000 rpm in one and 200 rpm in other. Any idea on what might be the problem? I seriously have tried cleaning it but no improvement. Please guide me in this. @Lapfix I'm way too far to ship this device actually. So please do help me solve it.

  • By cleaning this after 3 years after i bought mine it lost -15 degrees during gaming and -10 degrees while idle. When you open the heat sink at 6.00 the area between the fan and the heat sink had so much dust for me. Mine laptop had the i7 and would turn off after getting to 98 degrees during gaming. Very informitive.

  • I'm genuinely noob in that kind of stuff (so hope it's something that can be done by me) but I've noticed that my laptop has got more and more hot during gaming sessions these days. It still works awesome (no big bugs or freezes etc.) but I'm afraid I should clean the fans at the back since they are not releasing as much air as they did before.. I mean there is like really little air coming out of them.. What do you think? How often should that thing be done actually? Nice vid and thank you!

    @titiof76@titiof764 жыл бұрын
    • There is no blanket duration for how often you have to clean the fans or replace the thermal paste. The general rule of thumb is that if you feel like the laptop is too hot or is hotter than usual, it's a good idea to start disassembling, clean the fans and change the thermal paste. Although, changing the thermal paste shouldn't be too frequent since thermal paste has a lifespan between 3 months to a year, depending on how frequent your laptop gets hot. If you disassemble your laptop and discover that your thermal paste has gone dry and crusty, it's time to change.

    • @@Braaage- reduces temps.

      @joycemerlynjm@joycemerlynjm3 жыл бұрын
    • @@Braaage- Sorry if I'm late. The thermal paste helps to bridge a contact between the processor (or GPU if you apply it to the GPU) and the heatsink. This allows the heatsink to conduct the heat better which transfers the heat to a fan, which will blow the heat from the exhaust. If you let the processor (or GPU) come into contact with the heatsink without thermal paste, the heat will become excessive and can escape to other parts of the laptop, resulting in more heat and subsequent damage.

  • What should be the normal temps for this laptop when gaming? I changed the thermal paste on the same laptop for a friend, but his laptop had an gtx 1050 ti and an i5 8th, my friend told me that the CPU themp would go up to 94°. After I changed it and cleaned the fans it went down to 84°, but I think that's still very high

    • It is good to see that the temperature went down after putting new thermal paste. It is a bit on the high side, but it is a laptop and you are pushing it a lot during gaming. How are your temps while not playing games?

      @lapfix@lapfix3 жыл бұрын
    • @@lapfix I'm not sure to be honest. He has the laptop now and I only had it for a few hours, But I think I saw that the cpu was between 40-60°C when I was on the desktop

      @alvareo92@alvareo922 жыл бұрын
    • As long as it doesn't shut down, you're good to go. Cap the fps down to 60. That will push temps below 90. If you want temps no more than 80, just turn off turbo boost, even 2.4 ghz is enough for 80% of games. For example, if i am playing fifa or arma, i cap the fps to 60 because more is useless. Also i turn turbo boost off. That way i get 60 fps stable with 70 degree cpu and gpu.

Opened it up cleaned out the dust and everything but still makes the rattling noises. • I want to clean my Omen from dust because I noticed higher temperature recently and it's full of dust(I can even see the dust when I flip it over) plus sometimes static electricity builds up in the laptop and I see a little spark from my finger to the laptop when I touch it and then every time the laptop shuts down. That just started recently because I moved places and I think the laptop sucked in a lot of dust and that's the problem. Now im not sure if I should clean it or send it to hp repair center because I still have 1 more year of warranty and I don't want to lose the warranty by opening the laptop. Will hp even clean my laptop if I send it and say that it shuts down and that it's temperatures are higher than they were before. And another thing is 1 of my fans is much slower than the other when I look at RPM and every time I start it I get a message in bios that one of the fans is not working properly(the thing is that messege was there from beginning and people say on forums that it's normal for that version of omen 15 that I have but it sometimes disrupts my Windows update because if i don't press enter at the restart the update stops and my windows once got corrupted because of it)

I'm definitely not an expert so don't take my word, but definitely the best advice I can give you is to try and open your laptop to see if you can easily clean the fans and try it again. If it doesn't work, try and take it somewhere when they can SHOW you the problem and most importantly, HOW to fix it if it ever happens again

    • idk if it's still relevant, but I have found fixes for this after trying all kinds of other solutions, including intel extreme tuning utility and others. I found a solution on my own that works for my laptop but may not work for all models. Thought I'd share because I know my posts on tucked away forums won't reach everyone. This is how I fixed the problem on my HP Omen 15.6 (15-ce198wm), which I bought in 2019. 1. Open Control Panel 2. Navigate to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options. 3. On the sidebar, click on "Create a power plan." 4. Create this new plan based on the default "High Performance" plan. 5. Name it something like "Temp Control High Performance," or a similar name you will remember it by. 6. Change the screen time out and sleep timers to your liking and select "Create plan." 7. You will be back to the plan selection screen. Open your new plan by clicking "Change plan settings." 8. Click "Change advanced power settings." 9. Navigate down to and click on the "Processor power management" drop box. 10. Open "Maximum processor state." 11. Change the values for both "On battery" and "Plugged in" to 99%. All other values can be changed to your liking. I have found online that the cpu for this model likes to run at 100% for no reason so long as it is allowed to. From what I have read, there seems to be a manufacturer defect with some models of the processor that causes this in tandem with certain omen motherboards, or HP deliberately did this to gain the maximum standard performance for unseasoned users. Either way, it's a hinderance to performance if it's constantly overheating for no reason, so hopefully this fixes it for someone.

  • HP had gotten a bit better with their gaming laptops, but they still haven't gotten it as good as those barebones gaming laptops (software wise). Also your customer may need to upgrade the RAM (and possibly both of the storage) because games these days had became more taxing than it is months ago. A single 8GB RAM isn't enough to run games well for my current Gaming laptop (HP Pavilion Gaming 15-DK0051WM). Although it isn't as powerful as the GTX 1060. But at some point it needs dual channel RAM regardless of how fast and how much GB the single RAM stick is. Because on Skyrim Special Edition It was hitching on lowest quality settings. I had put 16GB kit in it and thrown in Intel 665p, Seagate Barracuda 2.5" SSD (both 1TB each). So now I am good to go so far.

    • I used a very small flathead screwdriver (like jewelry sized) to pry open the seam in the front corners of the case. It did scuff the case a tiny bit but it’s the best way I could find. After I got it open on the corners I took an old credit card to the seams and managed to unhook all the plastic connections with that, hope it helps!!!
