@@chuckdeuces911 I saw a cat fall in a pool once, and while it did become completely submerged, it literally shot out of that water like a missile, and was up on the concrete being very indignant and shaking itself off so fast I'm not sure if it did any swimming or its own embarrassment carried it up and out like lightning. I pretty much fell over laughing.

If he didn't want to do this, especially repeatedly, he would escape far before they brought him to the beach again.

@@user-sk8th1ou3m Serious question, have you ever owned a cat? I can tell you, that cat is not stressed at all being in or near water. You can condition cats to not hate water by bathing them regularly when young for example. My cat sometimes jumps on the counter when the tap is running and takes a little shower by himself (though diving and swimming is still a nono). From a lifelong cat owner's experience, I would say that cat doesn't mind water and it's definitely not terrified. I personally would put a lifejacket on it and the leash kinda scared me at first because it might get tangled up while swimming, but from what I can see they're in very calm water and are always very close to it so I don't really see the cat in danger.

Maine coon cats absolutely love the water. My cat is part Maine coon and likes to play with the water in his water bowl and jump in the bath with you.

(mainly because i think he's too fat and lazy to fight it so he just lets it happen lol)

My family had a cat back in the sixties and seventies that would get into the shower with either my dad or myself if we weren't watching him. He even hid behind the toilet, and tried to get into the bathtub with my mother once. She called my dad to come get him. His personality was much more dog like, and he never met a stranger. Sure do miss him.

My niece has a cat like this. She has to keep her bathroom door shut and the toilet sit down. If she doesn’t the cat will lay in the toilet or jump in the bath tub/shower when she’s trying to get dress.

Some cats do like water, they aren’t scared of it like in cartoons. Water is a weird feeling. You have to get them used to it, because cats lean themselves. Imagine being put in some warm liquid un announced, pretty startling.
mmm not really. I'm assuming you don't know much about cats and are relying on what cartoons and stereotype of cats tell you. Because many cats love water. They could naturally like it from the beginning or often, it has to do with conditioning them when they're young kittens so they associate water with good, positive feelings. He probably had a very good owner before who did this or he grew up on the streets and learned to not be afraid by himself as he wouldn' always have a safe place to hide from rain and what not. What makes him unique is that he enjoys surfing and isn't scared by all the loud sounds and waves hitting him.

It’s incredible how well cat and owners compliment each other. Like out of every human who potentially could have adopted him, it was the pair that shared a love of the ocean, despite all odds. If that isn’t an example of soulmates and fate, I don’t know what is.

@@Zeetana1 he’s not scared, he’s just taking in a lot of incoming light from the sun. The pupils of cats constrict and dilate in reaction to environmental stimuli. Here, being at the beach, and exposed to high amounts of sunlight caused the cats eyes to constrict in order to preserve and protect the eye. The counter mechanism would be dilation where cats lets the most amount of light into the eye.

I had a cat who liked hiking and going on bike rides. One day when he was 17, he chased a bird into the river. So I thought maybe he might like kayaking. He picked up kayaking. Just like this cat, he’d swim, get back in the boat, dry out in the sun. Good times.
