  • I’m 23, born a year or so after Jerry died. I grew up on classic rock, but only got into the dead over the past two years. The feelings they give are almost indescribable, but if you’re here I’m sure I don’t need to explain that to you. I put this music on and watch these guys and I just weep in pure joy and amazement. Whose with me?

Only 12,000 capacity, best acoustics of any indoor venue I've been to, and by then Hampton Coliseum was the last general admission venue the Dead played on the East coast. They loved playing Hampton, and Hampton loved hosting them. I recall trying to find a hotel for me and my friends. When I inquired at one place about vacancy the gal replied, "We're all booked up that weekend! The Grateful Dead are coming to town and we're proud of it!" Good times.
