John.Cena proved that even Babyfaces get booed.
Agreed the problem is modern wrestling fans will eventually cheer the heel or boo the face.Ever since NWO that sorta thing is considered "out dated"
John cena shoulda turned Heel as Well tho
You mean Roman Reigns
Even The Rock was at some points
@@michaelrivera8360 It is more so that heels are usually more interesting or also in the Cena case they pushed him down our throats so hard that the heels started looking like underdogs.
Morrison was criminally underutilised
He was dope on survivor tho! Mayor of Slam town
Still is, when was the last time he was on AEW TV
@@Strobobel man I was rooting for him all the way in Survivor, that little nerd he was cool with turned on him
@mista maog I don't think he signed with AEW, he only did a few appearances like Matt Cardona.
He is the most middle of the road no reaction man of all time.
I think John Morrison would of been a fantastic heel Mitb holder back in his original run
I think and I could be wrong but he was supposed to win at Wrestlemania 24
@@jackfinley6550 nah the original plan was Jeff but he got suspended
@@jackfinley6550 Nah. Vince was kinda high on Jeff. He always pushed Jeff over Matt even though Matt was the better all arounder. Vince was never high on Morrison hence why Miz was favored over him.
@@stopmilk1127 yep and Jeff basically ruined his own career lol
@@artofchang nah Vince was high with Jeff.
Pretty good take from Morrison here
He could not have been more accurate about Cody. The man had the perfect opportunity to be a great top heel in AEW, but he wanted to go the way of John Cena and be the consummate hero. It didn't work in AEW and it's not going to work in WWE. Especially since Sami Zayn is possibly the biggest babyface in the company right now.
@@RDSArcade maybe it will work out for Cody in wwe. Furthermore, maybe Zayn and Rhodes will team up?!
@@RDSArcade idk as long as the storyline is booked properly he will be fine. He was still over on Monday night
@@yaboyCombo For now. But consider this: What the heck is Cody going to do to keep up his momentum until WrestleMania? Because Roman is obviously pissed off at Sami Zayn and is his primary focus at Elimination Chamber.
@@RDSArcade oh but the thing is its definitely working since his return to WWE, that's just pro wrestling
He absolutely should have became the homelander of AEW
Dude what a missed opportunity
It probably would have made them gain ratings and Cody (alternate universe version) sees the massive pops and becomes so enamored he gets the contract extension he felt he deserved
Yeah I thought he would be heel but instead he went back to WWE
If only TK gave Cody what he deserves.
That's what AEW fans wanted but Cody said no.

Ahah facts
John Cena, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Hogan proved Babyfaces can be annoying Rock in 2003 proved you can be too cool to be disliked. He was such a prick they couldn't help but love him
I think that in general the face/heel setup hurts wrestlers. Think back to The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Guerrero, etc. The whole attitude era had people who kind of swung both ways whenever it pleased them.
The attitude era ruined the face and heel thing
More like people just want to see heels because it's edgy
This video is old I think & has nothing to do with current, ongoing circumstances!Cody is being loved & cheered as one of the hottest babyfaces by the people,at the moment! And,only time he got booed was in the later stage of his AEW run, apart from that,he's been hugely cheered, and talking of being annoying,I don't think Cody falls in that category,as a babyface,he is one of the,if not 'the',best when it comes to the grappling skills, aerobatic skills as well as promo-cutting skills - he is phenomenal in all of 'em!There is no REASON him being annoying - unless you find some absolutely NONSENSICAL & ILLOGICAL reason/s to hate, boo! The reason he was being booed when he's having his last days in the company he helped stand up,was something else rather than him being a babyface!
Technically tho i started way early as far as hogan in 1991 he was getting some boo's from fans especially in wcw thats why he turned heel
Thing with Cody is that his entrance oozed heel. The “behold!” Music before his theme always gave the vib of “what do you think you are??”
Exactly. His entrance is nauseating.
Cody even has an appearance of a heel.
The entrance is kind of a relic of the start of his Indy run. He was just coming out of the, at the time, promise land of wrestling, and he had to show his worth, he was heel for the most part at the beginning. A lot of people didn't see that.
@@Yunglex313 exactly. that epic opening was the pompous heel thing to do. As a babyface it's hard to cheer for the guy who goes "behold ME!" lol
@AEWFAN4Life fr, his dad was the son of a plumber, the man of the people, and Cody's entire character was a rich spoiled brat who's career was laid out by his father's work
Randy Orton has done some storyline wise really messed up stuff. But he's always cheered no matter what he does lol
it wasn’t always liked that. go back to 2007. he and Edge were hated by a lot of people.
@@KingJadInfiniteHope oh I know I agree with you 100%. But right now nothing Randy Orton does will get a boo unless he betrays Matt little. Which seems to be eventually the storyline that may happen because them two wrestling each other would be a pretty cool to see

@skyblaze3574 but AEW has.
@@Sky_Blaze no
@@lucasrodriguez550 2018 prove it btw
The thing with Cody is that he could have been an absolute MONSTER of a heel. A lot of fans, myself included, thought it was a work...the angle he was playing was someone who thought he was a babyface and was delusional about it, therefore playing a very original type of Heel. We thought it was brilliant...but no, he ran back to WWE and it was just like "Oh...he ACTUALLY wanted to be loved? That's a shame." Really felt like Cody had gold in his hands there and he kind of threw it away. We can only hope now that running back to WWE actually pays off for him. He's my pick to win the Rumble, so we'll see.
He was saving it for WWE. At a certain point, he knew he was leaving and why give your A material to a show with half the audience?
Pretty disappointed that he didn't realize that genius switch was best for business.
@@natebaxter9551 facts right here
Nah can't blame him for leaving AEW. Punk and the Idiot bucks and Omega as vps make it a clown show environment. He probably saw the writing on the wall with their bs and left before it got worse. Notice how things suddenly got worse with those guys as soon as Cody left. It seemed like he was the glue that kept everyone together. Toxic environment time to move on.
@@Danielson1818 it wasn't just about the on screen product. Cody does a lot of charity with kids and that's why he wants to stay a Babyface.
I'll never forget how hard i laughed when Cody was at aew and threw his weight belt into the audience, as he always does, and the guy who caught it threw it back at him 😂 you could tell Cody was upset because he wants the fans to love him.
I saw that too lol
He's basically reiterating what cornette has always said. "It don't matter what noise the crowd makes, so long as you get a noise at all". There's less than 10 wrestlers in the western world who get a monster pop for just turning up. It's really sad.
Cody been a heel all of his career and he’s had maybe one or two babyface runs. He knows what he’s doing cause look what he’s doing
John Morrison understand the psychology of the fans
The American Nightmare character always came across as a natural heel. He's always been better as a heel, even in the Dashing Cody Rhodes days. I think him being booed in AEW could have played into him leaving, but perhaps he has plans to do the heel run in WWE? These are things I've wondered ever since he jumped back to WWE.
And that was proven when Cody jumped ship and got cheered and kept getting cheered
Pretty sure Cody, who was wrestling without a contract, knew he was leaving, and didn't want a turn before saying goodbye. The turn was set up and then abandoned.
He should have turned a long time ago though. But he always vetoed it.

A friend of mine trained at the Nightmare Factory in the first group, and he said that told told them numerous times that he would never turn heel. That sucks, because Cody is a MUCH BETTER heel than he is a babyface, but he wants to reel in his dad's natural energy, which he can't. Like John said in the video, Cody needed to flip, because he was loved for a bit in AEW and yet didn't embrace the heat that came his way after the Ogogo situation and then beating Malakai for no reason. Sure, his heat came from poor decisions, but some times you just need to lean in to that and enjoy the bad guy ride. Again, Cody's heel work is fantastic, and he just needs to return to it.
Being the top heel of aew is like being the smartest kid on the short bus
He so right. Cody didnt wanna be the heel. People cheer him now but will hate him the instant he wins n cody gonna hate it. Codys ego ruined what coulda been the 2nd best heel run of all of aew history. The sad thing is cody is a really good heel and talented superstar

The opposite of love is NOT hate, it’s indifference. To hate someone means that you still feel something about them, or care about what they do. To be indifferent means that you couldn’t care less about what happens to them, or what they do.
I have come to really love John Morrison from where he started to who he is now. Much respect
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with preferring to be a face or heel. Some people like the cheers, some like the boos
He could have stayed and been AEW’s top heel. And then forgotten. Instead, he stayed face and has main evented Wrestlemania two years in a row and made a ton more money in the process. I think Cody made the right decision.
So wish Cody stayed in aew and took that ride with the way the crowd was reacting... Damn
Nah took the good route
On one hand I respect that Cody keeps trying to make it work as a baby face for the time being, but I can also see where Morrison is coming from also.
MFJ is the best example. He is a mega heel, but beloved by the entire (or at least most of the) audience
Great shares. Thankful for tech and its ability to give us these “inside” details. Aloha from Oahu. 🤙
Gawddds, I was SO hoping for a Cody Rhodes heel turn. He was set up so well for it.
I think Cody's "is he heel or face" gimmick is the best thing about him
Cody has always been a better heel honestly. The dashing/undashing stuff always sticks with me for how well he played it
Cody doesn’t wanna be a heel for some reason but I think he’d be a great heel
There was an interview clip that i cant find anymore where cody says he doesn't want to be a heel anymore because heels take more bumps. He saw how his dad walked and looked at his career path and realized the same was in store for him
kzhead.infowepRxj7MImU?feature=share I think this is it It doesn't explicitly say he doesn't want to be heel but that is the impression I get from that
@@BrianHenson95 he was trolling. Cody has never had an issue with being a heel, that’s a false narrative. His AEW character was basically a heel who pretended or thought he was a babyface which I dug. He leaned into fans hating him, he knew what he was doing. If he had stayed in AEW then he would have had a full turn but he wasn’t going to have a full turn if he was going to leave and go to WWE and of course he has to come to WWE as a babyface. Cody will be a heel eventually.
I think JoMo should have held the big gold belt at least once. Back when CM Punk and Jeff Hardy were feuding he would have made a great addition
A lot of wrestlers say boos or cheers don't matter, it's silence that can kill your career.
I'd say that's correct. Better to have a reaction than no reaction
True fact. And for that you need both skills in wrestling and promo in a short time period.
Reigns was booed as a babyface for years! Still made alot of money for the company i say it dont matter as long it aint silence
I feel like Cody didnt want to repeat Hulk Hogan at WCW. he started his WWE career as a heel when he backstabbed Holly with Ted Debiase. he was a heel in 2008-9, thats how he got the face level he’s at now. in my opinion his run is more impressive than how they gas Roman’s run
I’ve said it before, the best way to debut a new heel is as a baby face and a new face is as or around a bunch of heels.
Lotta dumb marks in this thread. Cody didn’t heel turn, the “fans” heel turned. The AEW freakazoids betrayed Cody so he left and became totally vindicated by that deafening pop at mania.
No you are wrong. Cody totally leaned into it. He knew what he was doing. His character in AEW was not a babyface like his father. His babyface character was an arrogant man who desperately wanted to be seen as a hero for his own ego and benefit. If he had stayed in AEW he would have went full heel, he wasn’t going to turn he was planning on leaving the company. And of course he had to come back to WWE as a face, there was no other way but this notion that he’s so against being as a heel is a false narrative and Cody has trolled people into believing it.
the rock did this perfectly in his WM match with Hogan
"The opposite of love is hate" - john morrison.
Honestly, "turn heel and make your go-away heat into actual heel heat" is a classic strategy by now - to the point where I understand somebody not wanting to take "the easy way out".
The opposite of love is actually NOT hate. They are strong emotions somewhat similar at their core. Indifference or apathy IS the opposite.
And now Cody Rhodes is the best right now 👍
Tony Khan wanted Cody to be a heel; Cody refused in AEW
I would have loved to see Cody Rhodes and MJF work together as a heel stable in AEW. MJF always did say Cody Rhodes was his best friend. And if Cody Rhodes leaned into that heel persona, that would have made for some great television. It also could have elevated the tag team division in AEW and they could have had a feud against the Black Pool Combat Club.
Randy orton is a prime example of a heel being loved and it seemed the crazier he got the more people loved him for it 😂😂😂😂
Johnny Wrestling Company just said some of the smartest shit I've ever heard about character dynamic
He’s well spoken. Time for Johnny Podcast
When Cody had that big feud with Kenny he was arguably THE top heel in ALL of wrestling I definitely knew & was waiting for him to pull it off in AEW.... guess not
For 2018 there was only two choices for best heel. Him or Ciampa
Kurt angle, prime example if he were to come out today ppl would still chant u suck but comin from a place of love and appreciation compared to before
He may be right but even if he did lean into being a heel it does equal success. Look at WCW Jericho, he was putting out great content as a heel and they never pushed him. Cody wasn't getting pushed and they never had any plans to push him to the top.
Well Jericho was being buried cause of his size and backstage politics with Goldberg. If WCW were smarter and less....smallsist? Jericho would have been a big star there too.
The people gonn turn on cody so fast
Once he becomes champion? Yep. I bet after only 2-3 months, you'll hear boos.
Lmfaooo you’re all so stupid. The internet is a bubble
Jhon understands the game.💯
Opposite of love is not hate. Often hatered is fueled by love
Johnny Nitro was the man back in the day! Extremely underrated.
The opposite of love and hate is indifference, not each other, both are passionate feelings.
John Morrison was one of the best athletic WWE competitors during his active career in the company. He should have been world heavyweight champion
There are 2 reasons babyfaces get booed, 1 they are doing a bad job and the crowd is done seeing them, or the crowd is ready for them to be a heel for awhile. Either way it's worth turning them heel to see which one it is.
Most of my all time favorites are heels. Heels generally have to work harder and it shows through in people like Orton mjf the Miz or even Morrison here.
cody will be a champion.on top of the world.soon...some will never reach his status.his father was a champ.hes gonna have big.
When i was young i would always cheer for the good guys. Now that im older i cheer for the bad guys.
Can’t believe WWE never did anything special with Morrison, I mean he was on fire once he left WWE and a top star everywhere he went. Crazy
Edge and Orton are prime examples. They were the quintessential heels of the Ruthless Aggression era and the PG era but they are both universally loved. Moreso with Edge when he was really, really hated after the Matt Hardy - Lita stuff but look at where that got him after he leaned the hell to it.
The American of Thugonomics. Cody Cena
Not really throwing him under the bus. Actually a fair criticism. Cody was probably just sick of being a heel, which is fair enough. He played that role a lot. But he still makes a valid point. It's a missed opportunity. Could have played the role of a tweener pretty well.
very good take on this
Morrison should be in the NXT staffing. Yeah he ain't no Shawn Michaels but he literally worked his way around a 2nd hiatus in the WWE. Going all around the world. He knows his shit. The only reason WWE split was because they didn't know what to do with him.
it was so simple, he turns heel and the crowd explodes. he's loved by smarks and booed by marks. does this for 6-10, months and then flips back to face. but his stubbornness got in the way. that and planning to go back to wwe
I disagree. Apathy / indifference is the opposite of both love and hate. Because both are forms of an extreme emotional response. Opposite of emotional response is no response.
When I was a kid I only cared about the baby faces but looking back I have so much more attachment to the heels. Those were the guys that made the show
A young Cody can be a heel easily but an older mature Cody with an amazing story to tell in the ring is pure baby face. He's gonna be that great baby face like Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan and John Cena. He just has that way about him and he makes his fans feel his emotions in the ring or on the mic.
Except that right now he's failing at it 😂
@@polarfamily6222 at what exactly? You don't exactly say what it is that he's failing.
@@polarfamily6222 I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Cody deserves to be the Champ
Dale Earnhardt on fans booing him. His response was perfect! He said, "It doesn’t matter if fans boo or cheer, as long as they’re making noise.”
One of the best NASCAR drivers 👏
Look at the Miz. With a short window of time being excluded, he's almost always been a heel. Look at the "Bloodline's" monster popularity.
I love the Cody Rhodes I just witnessed in wrestlemania and think he is one of the best good guys their is right now! He has hit his stride!
In short. Love and Hate are the same, the worst is not to care.
"It doesnt matter if they love you, and it doesn't matter if they hate you. The most IMPORTANT thing is that they _REMEMBER_ you.." - Killer Kowalski
Now I see why many wrestlers prefer to be heels than faces
I always felt that during the second half of Cody’s AEW run he was mostly showcasing what he could do for WWE. I think that worked out pretty well for him
Untill he became honorary Uce, Sami Zayn was someone I didn't understand why he was in the WWE. Now, his brilliance has been shown.. Stone Cold was the first that I can remember that blurred the lines. I think that's when wrestling stopped being good guy vs bad guy.
Apathy is The Opposite Of Love. People Have Feelings For You if They Love or Hate.
Love and hate are two sides of the same coin. Apathy or indifference are the opposite of love and hate.
I think he’s correct. Cody already was one of the best heels in the industry in 2017 was it? With his last few months in AEW I genuinely thought they would do the turn and have him be the top heel but he left. I think it would’ve been interesting to see him as the top heel of AEW but then again I’m don’t mind the path he chose, him being the one to dethrone Reigns also seems logical and will make for a great moment
This guy and RVD would make a good tag-team.
He’s 100% right about Cody in AEW. Cody caused the fans to turn on him and Cody sabotaged himself with his constant need for fan approval and refusal to consider being a heel.
Cody could have been HUGE as a heel in AEW.
Roman is a prime current example of the more you’re “hated” the more you become liked
Edge too
As a kid I hated Edge, Jericho, and Orton. I grew up to love them as my favorites, proof that heels are more memorable.
Hogan/Savage/Hart/Michaels/Austin/Rock/Cena- All of them were Heels before becoming "The" Guy everyone wanted to cheer. We as an audience have unintentionally become the worst part of media reporting- We want to tear characters down, so we can build them back up.
Still crazy this guy was so close to being WWE World Heavyweight Champ. Its a shame.
Cody should have given in. He would have been an absolute sick heel
Actually no... The opposite of Love is Wrath.
The opposite of love is indifference... which is a lack of emotion. For example, Gargano and the lack of reaction in his matches is worse than getting booed bc the people don't care
DIdn't thought I would hear a philosophical argument from John Morrisson hahaha
This man is still top ten GOAT, just awesome
The important thing of being a heel, is being a respected heel. Once you’re a heel and you’re made out to be a constant joke, your career is done. I would prefer to be a heel if I had to choose
JoMo should of been WWE champion.
