  • Great work, nice job strengthening the corners. I watched a lot of these videos to get ideas. I’ve built a few over the years, but I’m hoping to see cool ideas. One thing I noticed a few times is some add Aluminum this or that to steel, they done like each other and create electrolysis which leads to corrosion. Epoxy and any type of sealer, sandwiched between the different metals will help a lot. Enjoyed the learnings, I’d love the saw, not sure if I can justify the purchase. Thanks and good job explaining your steps!

  • Why did you had a hitch for a hitch receiver instead of a coupler? What kind of connection do you plan to use with your vehicle? I know when I build my square drop trailer I want to use a Hensley hitch to help with theft protection and with maneuverability when towing. I love the setup that the BlackSeries campers use but of course those are proprietary.

  • Nicely done! I really like the look of the square tube. I am currently helping a friend with his second camper build and hope to start mine soon. I was looking to weld some additional plate on the side and bottoms sections where the Timbren’s will mount up but do you feel that the 2x2 tube plus the recommended cross member will be sturdy enough?

    @T1EAdventures@T1EAdventures2 жыл бұрын
    • Thank you! I personally feel as if what I’ve done will be plenty strong for my application. Maybe if you planned to haul some serious weight, huge tires (35”+) & real rough terrain, then you should consider adding more strength. I think for most users this won’t be the case though.

  • Good stuff man! I really like the motorcycle carrier concept, one question though- how did you factor in your turning radius with the carrier installed? I imagine you could potentially have an issue with the bike hitting the back of your vehicle during tight turns if the tongue length isn’t great enough.

    @jchappell901@jchappell9012 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks dude! There is over 4ft of tongue between the carrier and truck so that should be plenty to where even a jackknife situation it will clear the bike just fine 👍🏼

  • Great video. I'm trying to figure out the axle placement on my build. You say 60%, but is that from the hitch or the front on the rectangle? Also, can you explain your wheelbase? On a car it's axle to axle but how does it work on a trailer? I'm putting too much thought into this

    @mattresspolice@mattresspolice Жыл бұрын
    • Hey man! 60% from the front of the rectangle. Do not include the tongue or supports. I measured my “wheel base” from hitch to the axle on the trailer. But now that I think about it you may want to go from back wheels of tow vehicle to trailer axle. I’m not 100% sure but it’s worth a search online.

  • Hey QQ for you, BTW thanks so much for the hardwork that goes into filming and editing all this, trust me I know! I will build the exact one. My question is in regards to the timbren, I have an LX470 and I was wondering if the set you suggest will be tall enough to match my rig? Ideally I want the trailer to sit level with the Rig. Originally I was thinking about taking the Timbren that have the 4" drop, but I see that this is now what you suggest. Thanks

    @DeepSouthOverlander@DeepSouthOverlander2 жыл бұрын
    • So with these 2200hd and 265/70/17 tires for the trailer to be level the hitch needs to be at about 20” off the ground which is honestly even low for my truck. But lock and roll makes drop hitches for the vehicle side to help compensate as well. Larger tires would obviously help this issue too! Or you could run the lift models like you were looking at

      @Adv4x4@Adv4x42 жыл бұрын
    • @@Adv4x4 Thanks for taking the time to answer. Can't wait to see the rest of the build, especially since you mention you're doing metal structure... most of them out there are plywood/wood (which is what I was doing) but now I am curious to see what you're doing and what weight consideration it will end up being.

      @DeepSouthOverlander@DeepSouthOverlander2 жыл бұрын
    • The square tubing will be 3/4 x 3/4 16gauge which comes in at about .6 of a pound per foot! So it’s very lightweight for what it is. I estimate the trailer will weight 700+ lbs when completed. (Without the bike)

    @mattwaites1540@mattwaites1540 Жыл бұрын

  • In one of these videos you mention that the wheelbase should ideally be the same wheelbase as your tow vehicle, do you mean the wheelbase between the rear tow vehicles wheels and the tow wheels should be as close as the same as between the front and rear tow vehicle wheels?

    @staggerdagger@staggerdagger11 ай бұрын
    • As far as I could tell from my research it seemed from the hitch to the wheels of the trailer should be same as wheel base to keep the trailer in the same tracks as your vehicle offroad. But, it may actually be from the rear wheels of the truck to the wheels of the trailer the more I think about it. Either way, it will be fine. Maybe there’s a more definitive answer out there on the internet now!

    • @@Adv4x4Thanks for your answer and time! I'm not entirely sure since the hitch it where it pivots, if that has an effect. I'll look into it myself

    • @@Adv4x4 sorry to keep hitting you with questions, how much width did the Timbrens and your wheels add to your trailer? I’m at 5’6” wide on my frame right now. I also called Timbren today and they said I would have to buy the extra long spindles if I used a regular truck/suv wheel and tire. I was originally looking at the 2200lb Timbrens and adding the 3,500lb electric brake hubs.

    • I do not have an exact measurement on hand but it can vary pretty significantly based off what wheel you choose to run I believe there is a diagram to show distance of hub face from trailer online!

    • Overall interior space including the rear slanted part is about 55” wide 8ft long Not including the slanted part and only including the flat floor it’s 55” wide x 7ft long I added the slant off the back to keep the departure angle good without sacrificing space. We sleep with our heads down there so the pillows stack up nicely on that. Plus it just looks cool!
