I think for Momo, when she's been speaking Korean for so long, that's how she thinks. So automatically switching back to Japanese it's like rebooting her brain. I think she can do one or the other. She doesn't like doing both at the same time.
I think in english but can swap pretty easily from english to spanish ?? Even if I have been speaking the first one more than my own language.
I'm not surprised for Momo she speaks a lot more in Korean today than in Japanese it's normal to forget I have a friend after spending a lot of time in the United States she forgot some words or phrases in French which is normal when you no longer practice your mother tongue much
Momo's brain just doesn't work that way. She seems to have a one track mind. She can excel amazingly if she's able to put that energy into one thing. But try splitting that attention/energy and you get, well, this video.
According to sana though, she momo and mina speak in koreanese(a mix of Japanese and English). And she’s switched between both on that vlog with sana so I really think being nervous to give speeches is what makes her buffer

I think Yuqi is considered highly fluent in Korean as well, even though she is Chinese.

Also recently learned that Purple Kiss's Yuki from Japan writes her own raps in Korean. Her pronunciation sounds really good as well, especially since she's apparently only been in Korea for like 3-4 years.

1:43 I know my English is poor, but let me explain Momo's mistake in detail😏 Japan is divided into 47 prefectures, 43 of which are divided into prefectures called "ken", such as Hiroshima-ken, Chiba-ken, and so on. But, there are 4 prefectures that are called differently. The 1st is "Do(道)", which is only Hokkai-Do(北海道). And the 2nd-3rd is "Fu(府)", which is Osaka-Fu(大阪府), Kyoto-Fu(京都府). And 4th "To", which is only Tokyo-To(東京都). That's why Momo was confused and created the fictional place name "Kyoto-To", a cross between "Tokyo-To" and "Kyoto-Fu"😂 Besides, the characters for "kyo(京)" in Kyoto and Tokyo are the same, so I think she might have misread them. Anyway, it's really funny that Jihyo corrected Momo's mistake 😂😂 As J-ONCE, I'm a little worried about her Japanese...😅 but, she will soon have spent more time in Korea than she has in Japan, so maybe it's an unavoidable mistake😇

Wait what's the difference between "Ken" prefectures & the odd ones "Do" "Fu" "To" prefectures? I mean why're they divided in sucha different way-? Like majority are "Ken" but 4 of them stands out. Why? I mean do the kanjis for the 4 odd ones have any different meaning? Like yk suggesting a different special local government or smth?

Being bi/multilingual means you're now able to write, read and understand two or more languages, but in return you can only speak a mixture of all of them or none at all source: me, a bilingual person that has to google translate words in the middle of a conversation whenever people can't fill in the blanks

I think Momo struggles when she tries to speak in standard / Tokyo-ish dialect + keigo - formal polite respectful Japanese form. She's from Osaka and Kansai-ben (kansai dialect) is her natural dialect. She speaks smoothly when talking casually (contrary to Keigo/formal) with Sana and Mina. It doesn't help that Sana and Mina are from Kansai region too so she doesn't really get to practice standard dialect. But then again Sana and Mina doesn't struggle as much so.. lol Correction: as mentioned in the replies Momo is from Kyoto, though still in Kansai region.
