  • I had the same exact issues that you're having. Switching to raw A2/A2 milk didn't make any difference to my stomach problems. I thought maybe taking steps to heal my gut first would help. I cut out grains for a time and all seed oils and started eating fermented foods like sauerkraut, pickles, and even some raw milk kefir is small dosages at first. I also became very diligent about making sure I got enough vitamin d, c, zinc, etc. It took some time but now I can drink raw milk and other dairy products without any problems at all. Worth a shot.

  • I can't explain how thankful I am for you guys to have done this video. I've been so ill for the last couple of years and couldn't figure out what was happening; my doctors and I are even considering that it may be an autoimmune disorder. But this could also be another pathway to an answer! My allergy tests all came back negative but if it's a non-IgE allergy than it would explain why I'm still feeling sick with negative testing. I'm so excited to go back with this info and start cutting potential sensitivities out to see if I can get some of those healthy feelings back. Thank you so, so much!

  • As someone who has a non IGE allergy to the A1 cows milk protein (that worsened after pregnancy), I cringed when you drank the WHOLE glass. Dear heavens you’re brave. My reaction is usually 4-12 hrs. after consuming. Unlike my friend who is lactose intolerant and her reaction is within the hour. Our symptoms are very different as well. I can handle goat, sheep and buffalo dairy products with no problem! No matter what you have, you will figure out what you can and can’t handle with time. Best of luck!

  • Thank you!!! I have the same issue with milk and I've been so curious about the raw, A2/A2 thing. I can have hard cheeses no problem, and sometimes cooked milk, but it seems like anything fatty or uncooked (ice cream, brie, yogurt, straight milk, butter) wants to hurt me. I know I tolerate goats milk at least, so we're slowly building up to that, but I've been so curious about the cows! Seems like a huge investment for that sort of risk, and I haven't found anything unbiased online. So thank you for taking one for the team and convincing me to stick with the goats (and maybe add dairy sheep for the creamy things one day...)

  • My wife is lactose intolerant and the Lactaid products worked well for her. When she would have pizza or any cheese products it was almost an instantaneous reaction where she would have to run to the bathroom or emit some noxious Bombs. So we have goats now and admittedly the first 2 weeks of just consuming raw goats milk was an adjustment. About 4 months in and she is doing great on the goats milk. So I hope goat milk helps you. It is so good in my coffee and after switching to mainly an alfalfa diet and black sunflower seed the butterfly and creaminess has increased. Best of luck

  • Heres a grandma story about raw milk products: my grandmother was very active with the church ladies group, but didnt often have them to the house to entertain. Between lots of small children and not much money, having the ladies over was a challenge, but one fine summer she rose to the occasion and invited them to luncheon. There was fresh fried chicken, cole slaw (with a homemade cream based salad dressing), a real whipped cream fruit filled salad, cream scones with fresh butter and homemade jam, and dessert was strawberry shortcake with heaps of fresh whipped cream that was thick and rich from the newly freshened brown swiss cow. Grandma always said it was even a pale yellow from the butterfat. The ladies ate and ate and complimented and ate some more. (This was in the late 30s, and the ladies were all town women. Getting such fresh food was a real treat, apparently). When the last spoonfulls were being eaten, the ladies began to get odd looks on their faces and asked to be excused to "visit the hollyhocks". Only an outhouse on the farm. Grandma was always a little proud that the food was all so good, and a little sorry the ladies werent used to such rich food.

After I had it removed the issues went away. And I literally had the Thomas the train issues for probably 4 or 5 years. I Just never thought about the dairy because I never had issues as a kid with milk or cheese. Hopefully you will find the answer at some point.

  • I grew up drinking raw cow's milk and had no noticible issues. Fast forward 30 years, and I got tested for a vast number of allergies and intolerances. One of the items that came back as "allergen" for me was Casein. For me, consumption of my allergen causes widespread inflammation response that makes my stomach feel gross and all my joints ache. I have had goat's milk with no reactions though, so I believe my allergy is one of the more common (A1 Casein protein), though I have not tried A2 Cow's milk. I would highly recommend doing a test to see if the allergen could be isolated for you, because I understand what torture it is to do a trial-and-error approach.

  • Interesting video! I've got some sort of sensitivity to milk. I can drink raw A2A2, as long as it's not too much, i can also drink goat's with almost no problem. Lactose pills allow me to enjoy ice cream without horrible, painful bloating but I still get gas. My daughter on the other hand, has eczema that seems to be exasperated by cows milk. Although her eczema isn't completely gone, we really got it lessened by switching to goat's. I don't mind 'dairy free' foods but we both LOVE cheese and butter so...definitely getting goats one day. Not a perfect fix for us, but it allows us to enjoy dairy without too much body upset. Good luck with your experimenting and I hope you find a solution! I look forward to your next video trialing goat's milk.

We always warn new raw milk drinkers to take it slow the first week 💩 And all that butter after avoiding 💩 I think the better test would be moderation slowly introducing… But also, have you ruled out gall bladder, colitis, diviticulitis, etc?

  • I never had issues with milk growing up. We got a Jersey cow last year and started milking her in the fall. No issues with her milk. Until she got sick in the winter and went on antibiotics and anti gas medicine. We followed the withdrawal period for the meds but i would feel awful/have to run to the bathroom shortly after having her milk. I stopped drinking it for awhile and would test it with small amounts every week or two, thinking it was just the meds still in her system. But it was no use. She ended up bloating and dying on us in January. We got a new Jersey a few weeks ago and i was so excited to start drinking that sweet, creamy milk again. But it makes my stomach upset too!! I can eat the yogurt, no problem. But drinking a glass of milk leaves me with stomach cramps and usually having to run to the bathroom at least once. Taking activated charcoal helps! And I'm trying to drink smaller amounts and see if i can build up my tolerance. My symptoms are not as bad as yours with the cookies.. But i can feel your pain as an adult who suddenly finds milk not agreeing with me. What i wonder is, why all of a sudden? I'm wondering if our first cow being on meds made me react and caused my body to no longer tolerate milk, it's strange and infuriating. Especially since we just spent $5300 on a Jersey cow and Jersey x heifer that is going to calve in a month. I seem fine with store bought milk products, though I refuse to drink straight milk from the grocery store because it tastes gross. 🤢 Anyway, hopefully you find a solution and so do I!

I have been getting raw milk for almost a year and it does sit better on my stomach. I have tried the lactose pills and it’s a 50/50 chance it will help. That being said I also have Gluten Intolerance as well, which started about 40 years ago, when a certain chemical (Round something) started to be come widely used on commercial wheat fields. But for me a gluten exposer is much worse, very similar to what you experienced after eating the cookies. It has put me in bed for two days from eating a pinch of raw AP flour. I can tell a difference just by the pain or lack of pain in an episode. I wish you much luck in figuring this all out and I hope you can feel better. Just consider gluten could be a contributing factor.

  • It sounds like if butter effects you more than straight cows milk, that maybe you are allergic to milk fat. Unless it was the wheat flour of the shortbread cookies that bothered you. Personally, I’m not lactose intolerant, but get a bit sick from high fat/wheat flour products like biscuits and heavy breakfast foods. Also, if constipation is an issue, senna might be helpful. It helped our son, who suffered greatly. He takes two senna and a stool softener each morning, and double that at night, and it’s been a lifesaver. Best!

  • I just found your channel today and I really appreciated the deep dive you did into A2,A2 milk and the latest research out there. I'm little confused by your conclusion to your experiment. You drank raw a2,a2 genome milk Thursday morning and you surprisingly had just a few very mild symptoms for 3-1/2 days? Sunday you turned into Cookie Monster (cute clip!), ate 5 butter cookies also loaded with sugar in one sitting and had an overloaded gallbladder style blowout from too much fat I assume soon after that and you are blaming the milk you drank 3-1/2 days ago? I understand that IgG reactions are usually milder and can happens several days later so it's tough to make the connection. But too much fat in one sitting if your gallbladder is challenged seems more likely. Bile is made in the liver and stored in the gallbladder. The solution for both a challenged gallbladder and no gallbladder is to take bile salts with a fatty meal or dessert. Did I miss something that maybe wasn't in the video? I assume the butter is your own from a2,a2 genome cows as well. Have you had an IgG food sensitivity test? If many show up it's a sign of a leaky gut. Once the gut is healed, you can reintroduce many of the foods. I appreciate my organic dairy farmers! They do all the work for me and I get to purchase liquid gold! Thanks!

    • Renee, thanks for watching! A few people have suggested this, I guess I wasn't clear enough about former testing we did this year. I did a TED (total Elimination Diet) that gave us a very good understanding of what bothered me and what didn't. I had a very fat heavy diet some days (bacon, fat on pork cops, etc) that I had no problems with. We are coming to this experiment with the history of those other tests. For example, I have had horrible days because I had... breadcrumbs that had cow milk... a vitamin that had cows milk... and at the same time I can eat a bunch of cookies WITHOUT cow milk and be fine, it is well established the cow milk and not fat or gluten or sugar, is what is bothering me.

  • I'd check out other animal milks. If you find one (even camel) that works it may help you narrow down the culprit in the future. Most proteins have some enzyme that cleaves them, so with enough study we can narrow down the problem, and administer an appropriate enzyme to break it down. the science just hasn't caught up yet.

One last thing you could try if youre up for it is to make ghee from the butter and see how that treats you. I know for myself while i can drink milk and consume dairy, when I dont for a long time and say have a glass of milk, I get a bit phlemmy, where things like cheese, butter etc are much better tolerated, with ghee the most tolerated of all. Butter is so the worst for me.... The same thing happened to me when I tried a dairy free ice cream once. One bite. I looked at the label and found out that this particular flavor was certified kosher but had been exposed to like dairy equipment or something. I called the company and they assured me that their "strict allergen testing" didn't detect any dairy. I guess my gut can detect less than 10ppm of dairy proteins.... I noticed that some nights I didn't have it. Weirdly, the one correlation I made was that I was fine on nights I had wine with my supper. It seemed very unlikely that wine would cure heartburn, so it occurred to me that those were the nights I *didn't* have milk. I either had wine, or one or two big glasses of milk. So I tested that, and found that with neither, I didn't have the reflux. For a while, a regular lactase seemed to help. Then I needed the extra-strength lactase, then two, then even that wasn't enough to help with significant amounts of dairy. I used to put a *lot* of Parmesan cheese on pasta, and had to stop. For a while, I just didn't want pasta anymore, but then I discovered (sheep-based) Pecorino Romano, which filled in the same use case, and didn't cause the reflux. Similarly with pizza, replacing the mozzarella with Manchego seemed to help. But now I wonder if it isn't so much the cow vs. sheep/goat, but rather all the processing. Maybe I'd be OK with raw milk, but that's hard to come by. The other night, I had pizza made with only sheep-based cheese, *and* I took a couple of extra-strength lactase pills, but I still ended up with reflux, so there's got to be more to it. Like maybe the sheep cheese we're getting now is more processed. Or maybe it's fraudulently labeled, and is really cow dairy.

  • i have a stomach issue drs cant figure out too. not sure if milk/lactose related at all or not as it can flare up after eating anything or nothing. eating a salad can have the same horrific aftermath as eating a bowl of spicy chili or indian food. been tested for about everything and have tried eliminating all sorts of things with no luck. it is getting better as i get older at least. my mom had a very similar issue that eventually pretty much went away with age too so im hoping someday it will be gone. for a good while i was in the bathroom 4-7 times a day, every day, often with horrible things happening in there that were far from normal. i also had diverticulosis though, which wasnt helping and ended up popping my colon which lead to having about a foot and a half removed. not sure if that plays a role in the other issue though. im closer to normal now with most days in there only 2 or 3 times total, some days a more normal once even. ive just learned to deal with it. hopefully some day these things can be better diagnosed and treated. because this shit sucks. pun intended.

I actually feel cruddy, achy and low energy if I haven't consumed full fat milk for three or four days. A glass or two and I'm back to feeling better in about 12 hrs. A couple people poopooed me about it so I tested myself out on it several times (even tried supplementing Vit D and calcium instead, in case that was it) but it proved out I'm correct. I NEED dairy to feel healthy. Minimum for me is having a couple shots of half and half in my coffee in the morning but even then, I start having milk cravings. I've always wondered if it's a thing or if it's just me thing.

    • Yes! Jersey milk is very rich, creamy. It’s the ‘butter’ milk! Great for making butter, and for cream. Guernsey is less rich, more similar in texture to what a person who purchased milk at the store (like an organic whole milk) is used too. It’s got a slight sweetness to it. We prefer Guernsey milk in our coffee, cereal, or drinking strait, but jersey is nice for butter and cream uses! Having both has been a real blessing!

  • Yeah one person in the household not being able to digest raw milk doesn't make keeping milk cows a bad choice. You've still got six kids to drink the stuff, and all the other uses you get from it! In my household, my oldest two both can't drink large quantities of milk, and I need it to control my gut problems. But they both find if they drink a small amount of milk routinely, that maintains the level of tolerance they have, whereas if they stop entirely, that makes any milk at all become a problem when they start again.

  • Don't know if this is still relevant for you, but I was listening to old school homesteaders who were explaining how pumping milk using those automatic milk machines will cause a bio film of bacteria that you actually cannot clean out with soapy water alone - which is why corporate companies have to pasteurize their milk, otherwise the public could become very sick. Hand milking is the way to go for safe milk consumption & homesteaders should refrain from selling or drinking milk after using automatic pumps as they aren't safe due to bacteria film that cannot be properly cleaned out through the tubes. Just a thought to consider!

Drs said I would grow out of it and yes I would drink milk growing up (dairy farm) but, every time I had porridge with cream, I got sick..onto my 50s, I'm worse now than I was then and now I know it's not lactose and of course, the drs are no help.. • From my experience on the food allefgy journey, the ability to drink a2a2 milk largely comes from what part of the milk you are allergic to or have an intolerance for. I am caesin intolerant and that is why i have issues with a1 milk and commercial dairy, but no problem with a2 milk. However, someone i know is allergic to whey and it doesnt matter for them whether the cow is a1 or a2. She cant drink it eithe way. Ive also been able to consume protein shakes that are whey protein isolate protein shakes because it doesnt have the caesin. As for the raw vs pasteurized a2a2... the reason i drink raw miln is because thats how i could find a2a2 milk and since it works for me, im choose not to pasteurize it myself and take advantage of all of the bacteria in raw milk that i wouldnt be able to get otherwise. I didnt know there were so many protein molecules in cows milk. That's fascinating.
