I wish folks would stop being delusional and accept that these two heavyweights are not much different from each other. It’s ALWAYS going to come down to personal preference unless there’s a major guffaw from one of them. Me? I prefer a deeper, dark sound. JSU gives me that, so I’d give the edge to them. SU sounds spectacular as well. Their sound is simply too bright to me for some of the rap selections they play. Makes it sound a bit inauthentic. Nothing wrong with a brassy and bright sound! It just doesn’t fit well with the rap selections, but it shines with their ballads and more technical arrangements. Anywho, y’all can argue yourselves blue in the face in the comments. Just brush your teeth afterwards.

SU still have their same original style from the 70’s, from their brassy style of play and the usage of the head plume as a added flash feature to compliment the Jaguar Rock and the caps when doing Whip Turns. SU have videos here on KZhead that shows they have the same exact style. JSU on the other hand abandoned their entire original style, from their style of play, to the uniforms, and the added rock to compliment their head plumes. All the original style and trademark of SU. That’s why SU always telling JSU to stop copying their style. JSU original style from the 70’s here on KZhead. They changed completely just so they can try and keep up with and match SU, and that’s truly sad.

Well stated, bro... preference is preference, and I couldn't agree more. SU sound is brass heavy, which isn't a slight at all. JSU does have a heavier sound, but like u said originally, it's all about preference. However, that jukebox spanked their @$$es, especially around 30mins 😅

Jsu good song selections, and when yall moved to the middle and opened up, omg. The musicianship is there. Jsu has a nice groove to them. Loved the technical tunes, even the rap tunes had good moving parts.

Let's face it, you're not going to be louder than them, so it comes down to tagging them in other categories and JSU did that. But both bands are top tier and will only get better as the season goes along. Hats off to both bands

I am die hard SU fan, even tho one of my favorite directors went to TXSU. However i found myself enjoying JSU muisc selection better. Some of the tunes SU playing i have no clue what it is. 😅 When JSU start to slide over i knew the tables was going be turned😂😂😂 That power was stuipd and they are smaller.. All I gotta say is I’m glad they moved out of that damn corner for this fifth Finally Someone Gave Su A Face To Face Battle At Mumford This Is History! Hate To Say It The Boom Was Booming Southern Was Southern! The boom had more of that polish sound with popular music and great interesting arrangements! Great Jobs To Both Bands. Maybe Trimming Fat For All Bands May Be Necessary. The Boom Sounded DAMN GOOD WITH LESS NUMBERS!
Both bands Were loud with power but imma have to give the W to JSU. the first 3/4 songs they played had a groove to it and thats what it comes down too...Ppl could actually dance to the shit

Going with Jackson for this one. However, both bands did pretty well (especially considering how early in the season it was for both bands).

This was a good Boombox. Both of the bands sound great and this was only week 3 of the season. JSU and SU had power. It comes down to personal preference. I prefer The 💥 Boom for the 5th!

I enjoyed both band.The Doll and j-setts was soooo beautiful tonight. Doll always give us a show/ j-setts came with so much energy tonight but they left early. Doll dance so beautiful on funny Valentine's they dance beautiful all night this is why they my favorite 2 dance group .❤I love HBCU ❤Dolls/j-setts ❤

I love Southern but JSU was the better band tonight. Southern hasn't sounded the same since 2019… Kendrick does great but they need Simmons or Haymer to Return. They can't keep hiding behind “Numbers” and OverBlowing. Southern used to sound so much better.

If you were at the game and sitting on side of either band....i really dont understand how you're in here saying who won what based on musicianship because i was there and hearing them straight on now has completely changed my thoughts on which band did what while I was there. Both bands brought the heat.

If you’re listening for intricacies in arrangements, which every SU fan screams about, JSU waxed. If you’re talking power, JSU marched around 150 brass players and were matching power with SU. If you’re talking cleanliness, both bands were equally as clean and sloppy in every way. It was an intense battle and SU came with it. But JSU is on an entirely different level this year.
