Natalie Portman and Lily-Rose Depp in Planetarium TIFF

Natalie Portman and Lily-Rose Depp play sisters who can speak to the dead in “Planetarium.”
The duo dropped by the Variety Studio presented by airbnb to discuss the drama, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and working with director Rebecca Zlotowski.
“This is the first time I’ve made a feature with a female director in 25 years of working, apart from short films,” Portman said. “I don’t think anything’s different. I think every director is different and every director has their very unique way of working and their very unique vision.”
“I just think that there is clearly lack of opportunity for women, particularly in the United States, but hopefully things are changing because you’ve have the majority of your experiences with female directors,” she said about Depp.

    • Lala omg literally nothing you said is true. Where the hell did you get that info. It’s pretty well known that Lily Rose Depp is Johnny Depp’s daughter. Lily and Natalie aren’t related either, they’re sisters in the movie but that’s it. Their not even from the same country, Lily was born in France and Natalie was born in Israel. However they are both American citizens.

    • Lily Rose Depp and Natalie Portman are cousins, but through their mothers - that's why they have different surnames. Lily Rose Depp has the same surname as Johnny Depp, because she is her niece (her father is Johnny Depp's younger brother).

    • i agree, still we never see the burden, the other one has to carry, things that seem glamourous and shiny have also their dark sides, im sure its also not easy mum and dad breaking up and the dad has then a new wife, that could be an older sister, we dont know abhout the tears shes weeping about.things we dont know of, maybe also other things... and maybe especially bcs she has this famous dad and mum shell have to prove herself even harder. or doors that open now quickly for her,... shell definitly has to learn to work on her character for example, i often think that people who are not so blessed with beauty for example, work harder on their character... but yeah, maybe shes also just lucky, but she ll also have her challenges, we dont know about them

    • Body shaming? Pointing out that someone looks unhealthy is NOT body shaming. And btw, I am appalled by the "acceptance" of people who are so outwardly unhealthy looking. PC needs to die, because people are dying over this issue. Obese women are fighting to be fashionable instead of fighting to be healthy and this statement proves how ridiculous that is. I have a niece who is very obese and recently had a pace maker installed. She continues to over eat and I fear that someday she will die and leave her three young girls motherless. SO, before anyone takes issue with the TRUTH..consider that you're enabling someone's demise. PC isn't PC when it's true.

Being too heavy, makes it hard for you to do anything, as you will get tired quick, plus you can’t wear any clothes and look good. You will feel bad and ashamed about your body etc all the time, which Will affect for motivation. Its not Easy man.

I was very skinny as a teenager and constantly felt the need to eat more around my friends just to assure them that I was not anorexic. Skinny-shaming, although it is not as "severe" as fat-shaming, is a thing that needs to be addressed.

    • I think Natalie's mom would go with her to set when she was young. I remember hearing about how Natalies mom would confuse her and Kiera Knightly her stunt double on starwars.   • I would have definitively thought she might just be a skinny girl. But something about the way she sits with her shoulders back seems like you would sit if you thought you were fat an wanted to stretch you stomach so nobody notices it. She never even leans a bit forward and it really doesn't look to comfortable... Sure, some people are naturally more skinny than others, but she does not look too healthy...
