@@spacegame4462 You can actually eat it directly, as many in Asia do. Just throw the dust into the bag, close the bag, crush the noodles by hand, and then shake it, and now you eat it like salted chips. Or he should have named this Miso Soup and that's it. Threw all kind of random bs in that boiling water.
@@FcoEnriquePerez Except this is wrong for Miso Soup also. There's no dashi base, too little miso paste, and he let it boil long which kills the flavour, and he also didn't add the right seaweed, and he ultimately still failed to use the right noodles - for this type of soup, if you must pair noodles with it, udon or soba works better, as it is a light soup.

I've been a very big fan of noodle soups (that's what this is) ever since my dad, the chef of our household, taught me how to make broth on my own (I don't like the stuff in packets anymore) and I have a few additions to make to the recipe. For one thing I'd replace the chili flakes with chili bean paste, which has so much flavour to it and gives the broth an extra kick. What was completely missing from the broth was ginger and garlic (yes the ginger went on top later, but it works so much better as a part of the broth especially in form of ginger and garlic paste). The type of seaweed is a little tricky as well cause I'm not sure if nori is the right type for noodle soups and from my experience wakame is generally the better choice for soups in general. You can find these ingredients in any Asian grocery store in the world (I should know, I live in Germany) and it makes the broth so much more flavourful. And on a quick final note, Gordon what did you mean by "seasoning"? There are more than 200 types of spices in the world and I'd like to know which ones are meant by this. - Congrats for reaching the end of my comment and thanks for reading it :)
Noodle soup. Yes. Ramen.. Not by a long shot. Also, you're right on the money with a good quick soup. I do shallots, garlic, ginger, shishito peppers, a little bell pepper, gochujang, and a cube of powdered chicken stock. High simmer for 15, low for 10. Add in noodles at the end for 6 to 8 minutes. Comes out great.

I mean dude. Its ramen
To the ever increasing sensitive people complaining about how different this is to the original style recipes (normally italians who give out basically anytime a non Italian makes a pasta dish, but in this case its the sensitive Japanese foodies). It is a ten minute version of a dish, that in some "true" recipes can take literally days and even weeks at times depending on the recipe. Like in some original styles the broths themselves are developed over the course of days not hours, so of course a ten minute version will have some significant changes to the true originals. Its amazing how precious some people get about food recipes. Do you really think Gordon doesn't realise he is missing steps or cheating on certain steps in comparison to the original styles? I assume he thought that any normal human would realise that he isn't claiming this as the best ramen recipe or even on par at all with tradition ramens. It is a "quick fix" version of a classical dish that can often take days to make from start to finish. So while not a true original, it will still be a nice and tasty dish with some minor and some significant changes thereto (minus the tofu of course lol), which is all that really matters tbh. Taste is king. Don't know why I wrote so much about ramen at 1.30am, but I'm stuck in a KZhead hole and can't fall asleep. Peace out
Excellent point!
Not quite agreeing, I'm a big fan of Ramsay but this one is a no. It does not make a lot of sense to me. Why butchering the original ramen recipe in 10min like that, not an efficient use of time with the amount of ingredient and preparation with all the cleaning. If I had 10min to make ramen, I would go for instant ramen and work on a nice topping. What he puts in the broth does not look appetizing to me at all.
