Insurance Coverage For Wegovy and Ozempic - How Does It Work?

Semaglutide has been a gamechanger for diabetics looking to lose weight. Luckily, these GLP-1 medications, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, are covered by most private insurances with a small copay. Wegovy is now approved for nondiabetes, however Ozempic has been approved for type 2 diabetes along with those with multiple health conditions for some time now. Unfortunately, due to the extraordinary demand, Wegovy is currently unavailable for new patients as there is a starting dose shortage, but sometimes those who come to us looking to start Wegovy learn they indeed do have preexisting medical conditions which allow them to start Ozempic. During our initial trial period, we can learn about your current state of metabolic health which allows us to decide which medication is appropriate for you.

  • Some detail on the wearable glucose monitor, please? Local practice won't do blood draw but can do injections or the wearable. I just need to show the way.

  • I'm in the donut hole of my Medicare part D. After almost $500 deductible for tier 3 designer drug Ozempic for A1C, it jumped to $145, then $250 per month. Difficult when my SS is only $1100 per month.

    • @Foxy Peach - Ask your physician about a Patient Assistance Program application for Ozempic which could greatly reduce the cost of this drug, or perhaps provide it for free if you meet the eligibility requirements.

  • I would like to find a video that specifically explains how Plan D covers Ozempic through the 4 stages of coverage. Anyone? Thanks!

  • My insurance covered it. My copay was 2.5% of the retail price. I was flabbergasted. Anyone want to buy some?😂😂😂
