Just a few notes! Firstly, yes there are characters not included in this video such as Symmetra, Lucio, Junkrat & Sigma. I wanted to keep this video very digestable and concise so I left them out as they are not very key to Overwatch's story right now! But they all look like they could be in the future! Symmetra recently made friends with Zen & is keen on helping the Shambali Omnics, Lucio & Junkrat might well end up joining Overwatch and Sigma will be a weapon that Talon will seek to unleash in the near future... though he's struck up an unlikely friendship with Sombra who seems to want him to veer away from Talon... so let's see what happens! I think you skipped something within this timeline Before Reaper moved higher up within Talon's ranks, he was apart of a mission to seize Subject Sigma for manipulation of the eccentric astrophysicist's horrifying abilities to control gravity to the terrorist group's advantages - read Code of Violence

just like team 4 had nothing to do with any of the blizzard issues, scandals etc (black watch). Team 4 are the developers of overwatch.

Yeah man, its scary how precise it is, the overwatch "being seen as the force of good in the world", then being looked upon as the villains for reasons and decisions outside their controls, then ppl quiting overwatch, and it ending up in a long hiatus. And now, overwatch is back, and with it being back, some of the ppl that left are coming back, but overwatch still has everything to prove to the world.
I had the same thought. An organization comes onto the scene and is widely beloved for the good work that they do. But the acts of a few bad people show that the sterling reputation is not as flawless as some may think. The world turns against them but they have to pull through it to do good once again and be heroes they intended to be in the first place.

I could see Sojourn being the one that helped 76 after his final fight with Reyes, since she's a cybernetics expert, has cybernetic legs and arms like 76, and how 76 survived is a big piece of info that we've been wanting to know about awhile, possibly as long as we've been wondering who that little white haired woman in the bottom left of our screen is when playing the event game mode
That could also explain how soldier cant run after being hacked by Sombra.

Wasn’t it the soldier serum that was injected into him that kept him alive? Same thing with Reaper.

As someone who has played since launch and has always been confused and thirsty for lore, this is so refreshing to see. I can't believe there is so many little details I have missed in the lore since 2016. I do hope you maybe make this a mini series once the story mode comes out and continue to tell the lore there

From the sounds of specific character interactions in PvP, it sounds like Junkrat has also been recruited into Overwatch. Would be interested to see how that happened in the PvE or in the comics.

This is just a guess, but given their antagonistic relationship with the Junker Queen, I'm guessing Junker Queen leads Junker Town into some kind of alliance with Talon and Overwatch recruit Junkrat (and maybe Roadhog, too?) to be their inside men/guides through Junker Town. Originally, I thought Junker Queen was gonna be the one to side with Overwatch, but it's seeming lie the opposite.

Amazing video!! One small correction. Cassidy didn't save the cargo from Ashe. He tipped off Ashe to attack the train carrying Echo so that he could reactivate Echo. That is why he was waiting in the cafe alone, he had scared off the rest of the people so that there wouldn't be any collateral damage to bystanders. But great job!!!

Cannot believe that in 6 years they've only ever setup the backstory and beginning of the heroes stories. OW2 is going to be giving us everything when OW1 just gave us the scaffold.
They have no choice now, as they are a direct competitor to riot - whom is mostly lore intensive in comparison and has drawn a lot of revenue in because of that. Whilst at the same time blizzard has only been going down hill.
@@TheBeloKrv Unpopular opinion but I don't think League of Legends' lore is anywhere as good as Overwatch's. The only thing about League lore that's good is the comics (Such as Zed, Shen and Jhin), The Backstories (Zed and Shen, Annie, etc.), and finally the Arcane series. Yes, they are amazing, however the whole lore of league of legends is not in sync at all with each other. Simply put they've not done any setup, just "we have a world, on one side we have bard, on the other we have ryze collecting runes, demacia vs chainboi, etc." YES, their lore is AMAZING, however it's not a good in-sync story. Their focus is not mainly on lore which is why this happens.
@@nottipp3789 True, imo Leauge has alot of lore and a huge amount of world building, but it really isn't too coherent. I think it could be because they have so many champs that it is hard to keep up with all of them.

Dunno why man, this made me cry. This game has always been a major part of my life, the history, the characters, and how the in-game lore ended up serving as a metaphor for the journey the game has gone through, it just hits different.

I think u forgot to mention the fact that the us had their own way to deal with omnic war. They had the soldier enhancement program which basically pump soldiers with the super soldier serum. Soldier 76 and reaper were part of that program. That's where they got their code, soldier 76 and soldier 24. That's probably how reaper survived moira's experiment and soldier survived the explosion.

When I tell you that I love a good success story with the rises and downfalls of it as well as a phoenix story for rising from the ashes and getting back into the swing of things to save the world from those who would do it harm- I mean it. This video cleared so much up for me and not only that, was really well put together!

Great work. It's kind of sad that the game itself tells its story not really well. Without you lining up all the fragments of animated shorts, comics, archive missions and other bits, no one would have a clear idea of the story and timeline as a whole.
They do tho. True fans piece it together just like Dark Souls or other games that give you a puzzled lore.

Thank you! Yeah they're unfortunately quite peripheral to the story (at the moment) so I left them out at this time. But Symmetra recently made friends with Zen and Lucio is likely to join Overwatch so expect more from them in the coming future!

Great Lore Story Video of Overwatch. I hope you do more Lore Videos in the Future that goes through each of the Overwatch Characters from the Neutral Ones in Junkertown, Neutral Characters that haven't joined up with Overwatch, Overwatch, and Talon. I remember that TGN use to create lore for each of the characters and I miss TGN's Videos.

there's one thing that is bugging me here, you say MEKA and the attack on Korea from Ghwishin was 20 years before Recall and how Dva was apart of it but then at 22:58 you say Dva help fend them off once more But Dva is 19 after "Recall" make it absolutely impossible for her to be there at the first attack from Ghwishin
I think it’s just weird formatting I don’t think he was implying DVA was around back then. SVB kept using terms like “in time they would” or “they would go on to” when referring to DVA earlier in the video so I think that part wasn’t necessarily going in chronological order.
Tha dates, time and ages are all messed up in the OW lore and all its forms of media, comics, the games, the video shorts etc... The best we can get is tying up the pieces the best you can, just like this video does, and ignore dates and characters aging not matching up.
It is possible they won not by defeating the colossus but by dwindling the forces until it was weak. Leading to MEKA development, it would take time to build those suits, train pilots who end up dying faster than training could respond so they looked at youth which has high hand and eye coordination, and quicker mental response times than battle dulled soldiers. They held a competition and rewarded the best gamers in a tournament to become MEKA pilots which her fellow gamers made it to the top. This would happen I believe at 16 they expanded on somewhere I read once before. This means at Recall she has only been fighting for around 3 years. It is possible that MEKA was actually developed by the Omnics that was bought by the company Sombra exposes to gain a powerful ally. Giving her statement in game- "I saw your stream last night, you are not bad at those games" "I will beat you even with your hacks!" "Aw, I will be sad when we take you down"

I just downloaded the game to try my hand at some type of FPS to play for the first time. I see all the "know it alls" picking apart this video but for someone who just needed to be caught up to what the heck is going on with all these characters this video was EXCELLENT! It is much appreciated and well done.
Thank you for this video. I never really played owerwatch until now with owerwatch 2 and I'm kind of sad that I wasn't a part of the overwatch scene in the time it was good. But I have always loved the characters and the story and I recognised the impact of it all on gaming. Now I have gotten into overwatch with ow2 and this video reminded me of everything before.

I can honestly see both sides. the real-life Jesse McCree was caught in a sexual misconduct case so the company had to change the name for marketing purposes, but also the community has been used to this name for years so does even matter to change it? ash even still says it in the "reunion" animated short.

Awesome. Pity we haven't any clue of what Lucio and Symmetra mean to all of this plot. They are somewhat interconnected between themselves via Vishkar Corporation. Sym clearly is, while Lucio.. if I am not wrong, had some relatives connected to that Corporation, but don't quote me on that.
I think Lucio's story actually had him overthrow the oppressive Vishkar Corp. in Rio de Janeiro
