  • Shouldn't the point be that the beating was unjustified, rather than that they didn't know he was a cop? This suggests that beating him, had he behaved in exactly the same way, would be justified if he were not a cop. How many other people were unjustifiably beaten but didn't have a badge?

    • yes, the police defense was they thought he was a protester. not a rioter or looter. that says the police can kill you for exercising a right. that's a felony.

  • The settlement should come out of the police department funds and pension.

    • @@yojodingy6334 That is not true you retard, Cops get preferential treatment in situations like this. Watch the civil rights lawyers channel and you'll see how hard normal people have to fight for justice. It is similar in DUI cases, cops get preferential treatment compared to normal civilians. Don't call others stupid when you're the one lacking a functional brain.

  • The first and most important question in this case will never be answered: If the officer who sued had been a uniformed officer that night, would he have beaten the sh__ out of those worthless rioters right along side his fellow officers? The answer to that question is most likely YES, in my opinion.

    • The issue is that they don't view themselves as PEACE OFFICERS they clearly make the distinction of being LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. Words and Actions matter.
