Thank You Ben Askren | ONE Tribute

Former ONE Welterweight World Champion Ben Askren was truly one of a kind. The former Olympian wrestler defended his World Title belt four times while dominating opponents with unyielding grappling, a smothering top game, and a “funky” style all his own. Thanks for the memories, Ben Askren!

  • Ben is such a classy guy. He may have not had a good career in the UFC, but his dominance in ONE and Bellator should never be forgotten, same with his influence in wrestling. I wasn't a huge fan of Ben, but the way he handles his previous losses made me an instant fan of him. Thank you ONE for this tribute for Ben. He deserves it. And thank you Ben, for an amazing career and being a great fighter in general.

  • If Askren had gotten into the UFC after Bellator.. he would have done much better in the UFC. Askren's style of scrambles & supreme grapples with all stand up strikes only thrown for grapple set ups relies very heavily on reflex speed and agility. Unfortunately for Ben, speed is the first thing to go, and with only 1 hip.. the Askren that fought in the UFC was at about 40% of his original abilities.

    • I feel like Askren lacked the striking ability. Mad respect to Askren but I don’t feel like he would’ve thrived in the UFC like he did in One and Bellator.
