  • For what it's worth, the Z9 will tether and power deliver on the same usb-c cable. Shot an entire studio day on it and had a fully charged battery at the end! Didn't test this with video though.

  • Thanks for sending my z8 so quickly. I’m very impressed with the lighting quick autofocus and burst and ergonomics. So much faster than my z7ii. Still waiting for my 1.4 teleconverter, I hope Nikon start manufacturing again soon

  • Some lenses also have Kensington lock ... but to lock both, you need a dual kensington cable (They do make one). 800, 600, both 400s 100-400 and 70-200 that I know of.

  • light correction on the release mode. By default the Z8 is configured to use the left most button in the group of 4 on top to select release mode ( so you don't need to assign to another fn button ) As an aside this is also the way to do it on the Z9 if you select the right setting on the release mode dial.

  • Thankyou for this video. I miss the User settings since each of the 3 User settings saved the same things that 2 of the Bank settings combined save. I have to change 2 settings via the i menu instead of one physical dial (which can be changed while the camera is on or off).

  • Hello Grays of Westminster, Thank you very much for your informative videos! I find the Nikon instruction manuals can be quite convoluted at times. Sometimes you're a sanity saver. I have the Z7II & Z8 at hand & I would like to exchange the Z8 for the Z9 because of the more ergonomic grip, larger battery, locking card door & much more. I found that there is a noticeable difference in the way the Z7II & Z8 render the same images, I'm using the all same setting & lens 70-24mm f/4 & 24-70mm f/2.8 on these cameras. The question I have is does the Z8 & Z9 rended the same or are they different like my Z7II & 7 Z8 cameras? I like the way the Z8 renders better than my Z7II. I would deeply appreciate your input is this as well any other thoughts you my have. Thank you very much! Jim McCauley Hailing from White Rock, B.C. Canada

  • i waited until i saw the specs for z8 before i decided. i was almost sure i would upgrade to z8, but in the last minute i 'side-graded' (upgraded - but some perhaps would say 'not as far') from a D850 and a Z6II to a Z fc + Z7II instead (and a brand new subscription to the printed version of Nikon Owner since yesterday). the Z7II 'premiered' friday night when a musician friend played. the photo-inspiration has 'lagged' i bit the last 2-3 months - but its coming back now :) i even found a place less than a kilometer away from where i live where i can do 'my analogue stuff' again - so maybe i should get som 120 trix and d76 and develop again :)

  • I plan on getting z9 mark2 at later date. I predict around 2026/7. Right now my budget around z6 or z6-2 second hand. Dunno. I plan on getting one or zf next year

  • I had a chance to finally do a head-to-head comparison between the Z8 and the Z9. They both feel great in the hand, much better than the previous gen full frame bodies. The choice between the two is a matter of personal preference IMO. Ergonomically speaking, the Z9 is noticeably larger and heavier than the Z8, so if you prefer a lighter body, the Z8 is the way to go. However, if you want an integrated grip unibody, the Z8 is the obvious option, The different features between the two are not that big of a deal for most, so unless again you have a preference for the feature set of one over the other, both are just as awesome!

  • Hi, I am wondering if the resolution on the Z9 viewfinder with 9.4m dot be better to see or 3.7 m on the Z8? Which preview is more accurate and matches the final image process by the same sensor of 45.7mp? thank you.

  • I noticed that there is no Nikon logo on the Z8 LCD screen. Could it be because the the Z8 is a production model? Maybe it will be visible in the retail versions 🤔

  • Have both the Z9 and Z8 great combination. 🙂it’s like having two different size hammers in your tool box. Each one dose the same thing but each are best for different jobs. Not missing the raised mode select on the Z9, have my Z9 selection set to top button where you can select modes with front function dial, same as on the Z8😊 Have used both on an event, worked great. The Z8 on a strobe frame is well balanced the Z9 feels bulky.

  • Thanks Guys. Do not use Tone Mode set to HLG while shooting RAW - it appears to have a terrible effect. If you want to shoot RAW+JPG/HEIF -- also do not use HLG (so you will get a JPG not a HEIF). There is a thread on BCG forum on this subject where Steve Perry posted a vid with his analysis. AND thom Hogan remarked the same in his blog. If certain forum are to be believe - a surprisingly large number of folk who are clearly struggling simply have not looked in the manual or technical guide and/or are crazily trying to use 3rd party batteries in their brand new Z8 (potentially invalidating the warranty if damage is caused) -- they just will not work.

  • 500-600 shots before the battery went low 🫤.. I’m so confused by that.. especially as it’s a fast fps camera.. what mode is that? Because I took 2000 images in 120 fps and it did nothing to the battery.. plus hundreds more in Raw and it didn’t go down much at all.

  • I have today two Z6II ... but I never used the User setting menus ... It is much faster for me to change the setting manually than remember what each user setting was programmed for. :) I had a D750 some years ago and think that one also had U-setting ... never used it on that one either.

  • I do so hat seeing cameras sitting without lenses thoughts of dust and crud getting on mirrors, film/sensors etc. Thank goodness they have a sensor cover, a useful feature. Otherwise very desirable camera(s).

  • Man, with my z6ii I can easily shoot around 1,500 photos with one battery and still get a little bit of power left and all that using the LCD screen instead of the viewfinder. I do turn off the LCD screen when I'm not shooting obviously. And shooting only using the viewfinder I can get more than 4,000 photos per battery which is insane!
