My only critique of this performance was that Blaise created the expectation we would see a photo of Penn and Teller in performing in California. If he'd just asked, I'd like you to think of you're favourite state, outside of Nevada, then our expectations would have matched the reveal.
It's actually possible that is precisely what he was attempting to pull off, but his confederate sadly wasn't able to locate a photo of that performance, so he had to switch to a simpler trick. Hence what Penn said about "multiple outs". (This is pure speculation though; that could be referring to a number of things.) *If* that is what happened, that's a huge bummer. It wouldn't have fooled P&T ("too perfect") but it would've looked absolutely incredible for the audience.
@@vigilante8374 That is a good catch. Makes a lot of sense. Good idea for a trick too, to have multiple outs.
@@vigilante8374 p
For me real magic is how quickly Penn comes up with codes to tell the performer that they knew what they did
Keep in mind: this is a TV *show* ! Alison talks a while with the magician and the producers just pick a few sentences into the show. Penn & Tell have some time to figure it out, then they describe their idea to the producers so that the producers know if they got it or not, and only after that, the "code talk" is done. I don't say it isn't impressive, just that they have a lot more time to come up with the solution and the respective "code" than the show might imply.
That's cool and all I agree. But that isn't that quickly. The TV show you see cuts around 10min of P&T talking to each other about how the trick is done and he is preparing notes how to say this. But yeah, sometimes its really hilarious haha
@@snygg1993 Lol the producers sure.
@@diemyfriend Are sure about that.
@@lolicongang.4974 Yes, a friend of mine once was in the audience there and she noted that P&T discussed for about 15 minutes before addressing the magician.
I actually thought he would show the picture of young p&t on that specific event penn was talking about. That'd be real harry potter stuff right there....
Yeah thought same. There's less than a handful of magicians I've seen on this show that have blown my mind like that.
Hahaha, same thought!
Absolutely thought so too🤭
me too
That's actually not impossible. I saw a version of this effect before involving a microphone, a confederate with a laptop, and a very small printer that was rigged up to print out a photograph directly into a wallet, which you'd then remove from your pocket, and hand to a spectator to open up and examine the photo. (In this case, a photo of that performance would have to be publicly available.) Truly amazing stuff if you set it up right, though that would never fool P&T because it would fall under "too perfect" (i.e. only one way it could possibly be done.)
"Oh boy" = not fooled
nice
One time, only with Ryan Hyashi. He fooled them. Though Penn started with "oh boy"
Followed with some sort of compliment
@@NKShahariar I think there was another guy too. Tony Montana maybe.
@@venosaur121212 I honestly hope you dont mean Scarface
Magic aside, this boy comes across as an absolute gentleman, good job.
The great thing about fool us is no matter if the contestant wins the fool us trophy or not I end up smiling at the end of every performance.
Too true - win or lose there's still so much satisfaction to be had!
8:28 teller just loves the way penn explains the trick
never ever turn your back to the audience
Unless you're a magician...
Unless you're a lying, cheating swindler. Oh yeah, nitedk said the same thing.
@@nitedk especially if you are a magician
*+Qermaq* ... you could have used a single word (politician) instead of three.. lying, cheating, swindler
@@sailaab Politician is too bad. I take lying, cheating swindler as compliment. But politician... how could you??
"The future of magic is in good hands" What a lovely thing to say :)
yeah,sometimes is better to lie
"Let's talk some sports!" Penn seemed unusually excited this time! I agree with him that magic seems to be in good hands. Beautiful routine.
Penn at the end saying he knows nearly nothing about sports then explains some key rules to 2 different sports lol.
"shim", "index", "magnetic shim", "multiple outs". I love Penn's way of tying the terms of the method into his monologue. Did I miss any? The tennis one went over my head, I think.
Usually a lob will go over your head
@@CapFlipGaming Hmmmmmm
you can see teller astonished by Penn's code at 9:00
Something about “add ins” I think. I don’t really know what that’s referring to though.
@@hypnobearcoup2505 probably adding in the card to the photo as a separate piece like an overlay.
Man that card "in" the photo was clearly a sticker or magnet. The finger holding the card was covered by the card itself with a black border around it (or that was a shadow from the sticker/magnet not being attached to the photo properly). But props to Blaise for his efforts.
5:54 yeah, kinda poor one :(
It's a pity that the only thing one wonders is, given that the cards are laid out on the table, where are the states? And the end result does not impress somehow. The card trick is neat but drowns in words. Something fresh is needed. I guess the whole genre is being photoshopped out of existence now that we have real magic in our pockets.
I know is a show, but the reaction of Teller to Penn's explanation seemed genuine, and really funny : like he was asking himself where Teller was going this time with all these wordS XD
magic: 7 charisma: 5 magic-code-words: 4.5 photoshop: 0.1
I was thinking the same about the photos. You can even see, that the card in the photo is not in between his fingers :D
you are pretty generous if you ask me more lie magic 3
Honestly I don't even think he deserves a 0.1 for photoshop. Maybe a 0.1 for MS Paint, or whatever photo editing app he had on his phone backstage.
I think the card in his hands was stuck on after. It looked like there was some depth on the picture.
@@dnelly9967 That's where the magnetic shim comes in to play.
Penn & Teller are gentlemen. Really respectful, even when they know how the trick is done they show respect for their colleagues and their profession. Good for them.
2:00 That guy was confused Where his heart is 😂
Hahahahahaha
This young man is on path to become well known! He is highly motivated, talented and knows the right people!
That code talk was hilarious! 😂 Always makes me laugh!
I cant understand pls help me
@@kakalakiakka4545 So do I, but it was funny... There has to do something with ShiM Lin and some kind of magnet.
4:22 watch the right hand changing the photo
When he walked back up on stage, back towards Penn and teller, so much wrustle was seen, moving things around, counted many different photos in that photo deck he had of the states.
5:55 actually the queen was not on the photo, but placed on the photo which I believe happens when he turned around against penn and teller. And other than hiding the card when he showed it in 5:08, he is making sure that the card stuck well by pressing it hard. Well, it's just a wild guess, I could be wrong.
I believe when he put the photo face down on the table a magnetic queen of heart stuck to the photo. There were probably 52 lil magnetic cards. He just had to place the photo on the right one
I've always been a huge fan of Blaise, who has the best and purest sleight of hand card effect.Nice job
L
how was it the best sleight of hand when what he did was so clearly seen. I have to say, it was really dishonest of him to edit this video to cut out the bottom part of it where it showed him doing a swap to the bottom
@@albertlwj not great to accuse him of something like this--pretty sure the Fool Us video team edits this.
@@jeffreylee4665 nope. i watched the actual broadcast, it was shown
and furthermore, it was so badly done you could actually hear the cards riffling
Shin Lim is amazing and you are also a pearl.
Amazing!
I haven't seen that 1 handed move you've done so cleanly, good job
I'm a big fan, and from your Instagram posts I just realized you were probably practicing your act and blowing the minds of people on Omegle. You were amazing, Blaise!
Haha thanks so much! We actually filmed this back in March pre-Covid but I still love performing that first effect all the time whether it’s for magicians or random people online lol
@@BlaiseSerra Isnt that card trick now available to buy? Saw a review of the exact effect recentlyt, forget the title.
@@MavisRileyJunior yes, I recently released the first effect. It’s called “Double Agent” you can learn on Theory11.com
@@BlaiseSerra I have bought it and it is amazing! The double agent itself blew my mind but hey, I am a hobby "magician". But the ACAAN or was it IDAAN - I saw worse card tricks fooling P&T on the show, you´d fool them with that I think :)
Loved the double-talk. I spotted a few things too... you get a trophy from me for getting on that stage
Look at this photograph, every time I do it makes my "ooooh"
so great Blaise! congrats on an incredible performance and routine!
I smiled through this whole video ☺️ so happy for you Blaise!! Such a talented magician & innovator of the craft 🙆🏻♂️ can’t wait to see more cutting edge concepts from you!!! 😎🤙🏻
Ahhh❤️ So happy for you 🙏
Great performance! I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing more of your magic!
This was my first time seeing you, Blaise, and now I can't wait to see where you take card magic into the future. Great job, keep up the amazing work!
Awesome performance. Congrats Blaise.
Great job!
Amazing Blaise...you are so poised and natural. We are so proud. We watch every video with awe. Much love...Nonee'
Congrats Blaise!!!
This was awesome, the trick, the story, everything.
That's a lot of code. Even Teller was surprised 😂
This went straight up motivational video.
You did this great buddy ❤️
You were great, keep it up!
I was wating for these
Gorgeous sleight of hand! Spoiler alert, even though Penn said it all! 2:35 He places the Q♥ at the end of the deck, great speed and skill 5:05 photo switch with index use 6:10 magnetic shim does its magic!
the photo switch was painful
Could you please explain a little more? I saw these clips you mentioned and still have no idea
@@AA-sf6fp for the sleight of hand you actually have to go to 2:28 and slow the video down to 0.25x speed. it still feels like you're looking the video at 4x, but atleast you can barely see how he places the card on the bottom of the deck
@@pyrex2177 But first he had to *count* 1-handed from the bottom to find the QH!
Beautiful entertainment, and at only 20 years old! Incredible! At that age I was still getting to grips with my ABCs!
Really nice magic!
Killed it 🤠
As a fellow crohn's sufferer may I just say congratulations man on finding a passion that you can do to keep you sane and find a positive and constructive outlet. I hope you are healthy and well and you succeed all the way to the top man!
You are great!
That was probably one of Penn's least thinly veiled set of code words.
"You was not born yet" Not sure if that was an insult of just facts 🤣
You didn't even fool me man 😂
Bravo
Man you are just nuts, amazing job!
The routine was beautiful, loved it!
A big Fan of you man.♥️🎩
Amazing story teller Blaise! Great job!
Hello Blaise! Well done on the trick! It was inspiring and makes me wants to practice magic harder! I shall say though...I am quite jealous of your connection with Shin. 😋
I feel so old. Cuz it cracks me up every time this guy says stuff like, "Back in the day" or "Before I was born. Wow! So, a long time ago." :D Back in what day? like 3 years ago??? I'm just yanking ya, Blaise. It was a nice show. Also not fooled, but greatly admired your skills. Don't stop.
The way he holds and reaches for things is really clunky and suspicious. There’s WAY too much pointless/corny chatter, and turning your back like that - big no no. Still, I can’t do any of this so what do I know, and he had the balls to perform on that stage so respect for that.
Agreed. His back-stories need to be crisper and to the point.
I enjoyed your routine and have no idea how it was done loved the code explaining how you did it still can't figure it out but I await your return to Penn and Teller sometime very soon
Penn immediately thinking of a show & Teller just struggling like nothing stands-out during all of their years together 😆
Blaise I wish you all the best. I have a physical disability from a rare hip disease as a 2 year old. I know just how important these things can be when your world is up ended. Good on you for trying to make life work. All the best man. - Ron
I really imagine the card even I am in my house🤩😂
The sleight of hand to get that queen to the bottom was pretty stellar just after 2:22
I liked it
His hair is magical
nice!
You got skills. Gonna follow your career, kid
Expected something nuts, since he is close with Shin Lim lol
OMG!
🤣 my guy at 1:21 on the far right
Cool! :D
Too funny 🤣. I was binging on Penn and Teller, I was wondering why they were so amazed.
cool to the max amen in Christ God Bless
Good job!!
Is it just me, or i enjoy when they talk in codes more then the actual magic itself?! lol.
"Yeah we know how you did it. Sleight of hand."
You have a very powerful heart
I hope to see more of you, cause I dont like the act but your slight of hand is pretty good and Im sure you have the technique to do an awesome performance, catching the spectators...
I had never seen such a dull performance, I really did not care what he is doing
i remember seeing P&T at USC in 1985.
Did Blaise Serra also shared hair tips with Shin Lim? ... dammit, his hair is so lush that I became so ashamed of my Jason Statham receding hairline buzzcut !
Arrrr...Walter Bro, I know how that hairline goes! Thanks for the laugh mate.
He has the best hair.
This guy is a one-arm bandit ;)
"Are my friends just being ? Or I'm really good" No, they just like to see your face
That was not a obvious clue 😂
Well done to him really So very talented and very much affected by shin lim;it is obvious through his words.
Pause at 6:05. The miniature card were paste onto the Polaroid.
If you look real close at the picture of him holding the cards, you can see that the card isn't even between his fingers.
Really good routine mate! It such a shame you have so few subscribers, so I'll add myself to the list. 😉 I wish you the best of luck and we'll follow you to see where you go with your skills and passion. Cheers from France! 🍻
You are a great performer confidence is key and you got it, thats even harder than the magic probably. Not to impressed with the trick you chose tbh im sure you have many amazing ones. But likr Penn said the future of magic is looking good. You should teach confidence classes for stage performers.
Great performance Blaise, you're extremely talented. Hoping we can collab in the future! Much love.
I saw the first move but that was cool.
Penn's not even trying anymore with the code.
He wasn't even holding the card in the pic lol
"back in the day" he wasn't even born yet
That picture that he was holding the card the playing card looks totally cropped
he didn't even used photoshop,he used paint
it's magnets, that's what pen was saying at the end. he has seperate pictures for all the states that pen could have named and they all have a magnetic strip on them which he attaches whatever the card that was picked earlier was. It looks pretty shit on tv but no one in the audience would be able to tell.
Its like he didnt try to hide it
