Would love to see it but the problem is MienShao and Pelipper are here with close combat, Wide Guard, Tailwind, and fake out respectively. Ting Lu can’t spam snarl if it’s constantly getting blocked by wide guard and then either being gaslit into Tera poison for the expanding force weakness or being hurt by draining kiss

My favorite team right now is Caly Shadow beside Weezing. Not only is Weezing a huge nuisance for opponents on its own, but Caly Shadow's ability is unaffected by neutralizing gas because it would make him less broken and that would be unfair lolol

Calyrex-Shadow does thankfully have one weakness- everyone who uses it somehow receives an instant lobotomy when faced with tera normal
Unfortunately not even that stops it, Mienshao can take them out and Calyrex can just hit them for powerful neutral hits with Expanding Horse or Draining Kiss anyway, maybe even the niche Tera Blast Fighting.

Though you could always trade with someone who already bought the DLC to get one, of course. More difficult to get than a normal legendary, yes, but not entirely paywalled. At least you can jump right into the DLC and get it quickly without beating the main game first, so trading them to your friends isn't exactly hard.

Its kind of funny how many absolutely broken ghost types gamefreak has made recently, between Caly-shadow, Annihilape, Basculegion/Houndstone, Fluttermane, and Gholdengo.
Death only made them more powerful!
Basculegion and Houndstone, are not broken at all. Gholdengo is very strong but it was never broken. Annihilape was actually unstoppable in Reg A with Maushold.

@@ParkyMarz In singles, however ... Annihilape is banned to Ubers and still sees some use there, Gholdengo is really good in OU narrowly missing bans, Basculegion and Houndstone are okay but are busted with Last Respects. Nonetheless, Ghost-types are feasting with Scarlet and Violet.
@@ParkyMarz The reason Basculegion and Houndstone are "not broken at all" is because "last respects" is banned. what they can do with that banned move is what makes them broken. The ability to freely fire off a 200bp move in the mid game, much less a 300bp move in the end game, with stab on top, is absolutely busted on pokemon with usable speed/attack stats, and both Basculegion and Houndstone can out speed a lot of pokemon with jolly+scarf. Gholdengo has phenomenal typing, a crazy ability, an excellent movepool (t-wave, n-plot, recover, gleam, etc.), spammable stab moves, and the unprecedented ability to block every hazard clearing move with one teamslot. It and Kingambit are still in OU solely because Tusk and some other OU mon are able to keep them in check.
Calyrex is a perfect example of why I always get bored during restricted formats. Like yeah, you could spend weeks creating a perfect counter team to Calyrex, or you could just use it and push the "kill everything button" and probably have better luck. It's like Water Spout Kyogre or Geomancy Xerneus but even worse...
I'm finding that even if you create a counter to Calyrex so much of your team's resources are focused on countering it that you are not prepared for other matchups.

something funny about calyrex is that it's meant to be "balanced" by draining kiss being a weak coverage move, but not only does tera provide stab on it it actually boosts the base power to 60. i can't think of a single mon that actually takes advantage of this besides calyrex

@@ParkyMarzMoves with a base power less than 60 (after Technician is factored in) have their base power set to 60 if you tera into that move's type. This does not affect priority moves or multi-hit moves. In this case, if Calyrex uses Tera Fairy, its 50 base power Draining Kiss becomes a 60 base power move
@@ParkyMarz basically, when you tera into a type, any move of that type below 60bp gets boosted up to that. multi hit or priority moves don't get it thankfully, but lets say you're a munkidori gamer you could run mud slap and if you tera ground it'll be 60bp. it's very niche because these moves are so weak you wouldn't use them usually, but if you want to be less tera reliant then if you have a 40-50 bp move you can use it instead of tera blast. and if that move happens to have a broken secondary effect like nuzzle or draining kiss, it's a win win
Comfee takes advantage of Tera Fairy + Draining Kiss as well since it's technically the ability that raises its priority so it still gets the boost, and Tera Grass Rillaboom's Grassy Glide is bumped from 55 to 60 power since it was nerfed under 60 this gen

It's lowkey insane how Calyrex-Shadow not only remained unnerfed going into Gen 9 but it'll now be stronger than ever thanks to Terastilzation. Makes me wonder if Game Freak will nerf Calyrex-Shadow going into Gen 10... or if they will nerf it at all.
The only nerf that you can possibly give to calyrex is removing it from the game entirely

As an AG player, I can relate. Calyrex Shadow can still kill your checks and sweep you if you let set up. I run scarf calyrex to prevent that coin flip situation.
Choice Scarf? Isn't that risky if you happened to get Sucker Punched? I always put Focus Sash on my horse just in case

Because it is reliant on trickroom, Ice is horrible defensively, it is a physical attacker, and while Ice is an amazing attacking type for super effective damage, it has types that resist it being common.
