I just watched this video on the first day of 2024, and I can say with certainty that this video is still relevant. Thanks for providing a mental framework and a roadmap for achieving tech goals. I am trying to break into AI & ML. This video, I am sure, will help put the right mindset in. Cheers and a happy new year.
Damn! I have 6 months of 2023 left now, but really happy that I've found this video in KZhead. Love this vibe, sensation and inspiration I got after watching it.
i love how you keep it simple. you don't try to say words in a poetic way or whatever. You are so real, as real as life feels when you go through it, not when you're during a motivational speech... Thank you SIR!!!!
I turn 50 next week and my mission for 2023 is getting my CCNA, I have the books and changed my hours so I can study for a couple of hours each day. I don't want to work in retail for the rest of my life. A quote that I found somes this up: "If you are stuck in a rut, hit the books, put in the hours and you will receive the rewards!" , "You cannot go and work for someone 8 hours a day and then go home and not work on your own dreams!"
Best of luck/effort for your CCNA!

Your video recall my memory , About 11 years ago ,I was an assembly worker ,at that time , I always want to change my life . I started to learn network technology and got CISCO certification from CCNA to CCIE, and now I still use these knowledge in my job . I want to say technology changed my life . thank you for your video and so inspired .
I'm 27 and i believe I'm coming to the age of reasoning. I got my first IT job ever (Help desk) and before that, from 19-26 i was doing dead end factory jobs. Telling myself i have time and to have fun. I eventually got sick and tired of being broke and a bum. Never trying to learn or strive for anything. And seeing you & Network chuck- inspired me to do some thing about my life. And now, i'm 1.3 years into my career. And my whole mindset has changed from "lets hangout" to "i dont want ti waste time anymore. Invest my time." This video spoke so much to me. Because im finally realizing time is everything.
did you go to school or did you just get certifications?
@@imrogers2781 i got certifications & applied lile crazy to 100+ jobs (Comptia A+) dont go to school imo.. its a waste of money. 7,000$ + just to get certified in the same certification that costs $300.00 Study it yourself. Resources are endless on the internet.
I officially got into "tech" ~5 years ago. First job I learned a lot of basics, jack of all trades type of situation. I only got into a larger networking job the past 3 - one thing I noticed is the CLI is only ever used for ad-hoc maintenance or traffic engineering. Most of the basic architectures are now deployed using YAML, Jinja, and Python. A lot of programmatic concepts and pipelines are used now, and the need for skills with Linux is growing. Linux is by far the greatest toolset I've learned, it's helped me understand networking better, it's helped me understand systems better. The amount of times I use common Linux tools on our config repo to bulk-audit and edit is more often than I think I do full configurations from scratch.
How do you learn Linux?

My whole life I have been the type to say no I can’t do that, or it’s to hard, or it will take to much time. Now I’m 34 years old. Working a job that I do not enjoy but pays pretty decently. I spend my free time to things that definitely don’t give me a return. Like playing video games and watching movies and shows. I really enjoy those things and obviously they bring me happiness but lately I haven’t been happy. I feel as though I failed at life because I don’t have this amazing job that requires great skills. Then I think of all the time I’m wasting and how I always make up excuses like I’m just too old to start something new. Well I think your video is a a step in the right direction. I think it’s time to give up some of those things that waste my time and start picking up some things that give me something in return. Great Video and thank you!

learning something new from people like you is encouraging and amazing.Thank you😀😀
I wish i learnt most of these principles about seven years ago. A lot of people have been trapped strongly in the matrix-- Go to school, get a job, and then slave your whole life. Many miss out on life-changing information that could have great effect on their finances. I played with the stock market sometime in 2020, and I was surprised at how well it turned out. I want to put in $90k more into the market. I heard people are making really great returns despite the downturn. Any recommendations?
Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.
My wife and I were following this same trajectory. Last two years, I pulled out my money and invested with her wealth manager. Not catching up with her profits over the years, but at least I earn more. Haha.
@@Joeryan657 For real, I've wanted to switch to a wealth manager. Please, could you recommend yours?
@@Ceciliamontgomery141 The thing is that I really don't like making such recommendations. But there are many freelance wealth managers you could check out. I have been working with "Deborah Sue Bohn" for about four years now, and she's made decent returns. If she meets your discretion, then you could go ahead.
@@Joeryan657 I looked up your advisor's full name and she appears to be trustworthy and knowledgeable. She is a fiduciary who acts in any individual's best interests. So I left a message on her website, and I'm hoping she responds soon.
I didn't become financially independent until I was in my mid 40s, in addition to owning a second house making money on a monthly basis through passive income, and I've also met some of my goals. I really hope this motivates someone to know that it doesn't matter if you don't have any of these things yet; no matter your age, you can start today. Investing can help you change your future! By participating in the financial market, I took a significant decision.
Yeah, strategic investments are critical for financial freedom and newbies always make the mistake of picking the wrong assets when investing
What an amazing journey for you Andrian! How was it like for you when u stated, and can you recommend a reputable specialist?

This old blogger is saying the right thing. For example, that you need to be distracted when studying or creating something, or that you need to follow fashion trends. Only here the main part of the video, those 5 main skills in 2023, begin after almost 10 minutes of conversation. That is, in fact, the video could be cut in half. After all, in the beginning he just talked about useful skills / tips for a person, for example, "you need to go to your goal without paying attention to people" or "constant learning new things".
Your explanation is realistic and straight to the point. l watch several video's on how to trade in the market but haven't made any headstart because they are either taIking some gibberish or sharing their story of how they made it. And l don't want to make mistakes by taking risks on my own

My problem is I give up way too fast and I’m not consistent. I feel like I can do anything if I gave it my all, but I rarely give it my all. I wish I could connect with more people. That’s what motivates me.
Thank you so much for this video, it was truly amazing. I have been studying data science since last one year which included python, machine learning, AI and many visualization tools. It has really changed my perspective about my career focus. I was an engineer working into hardcore telecom field but the vastness and importance these skills have seems to have opened up a lot of options infront of me. Also being in my late 20s I feel like during my data science study sessions I was able to rekindle with the lost studying etiquettes that I had when I was in high school or college. Its not easy to sit and study again with full focus when you are grown up. Recently got a job as a data scientist and here on I wise to keep learning and mastering my machine learning skills while also developing AI skills to which m still a toddler right now. Thanks again for the video, you got a new sub!
Leisure is not universally pointless nor bad, it is actually vital to success and is of return value. This is because there needs to be a balance in life, which many self-help books and time management courses also emphasize. Setting time aside every week for things besides work and learning is important to avoid burn out, stress overload, and to maintain peak mental and physical health. There is no point in working so hard if u don't take time to smell the roses.
Wow, David, you have redirected my mind . The mention of Linux, CompTIA, closing remarks . Am all in. Thanks you so much.
First video I saw from you and this changed my mindset. I'm already motivated.
Thank you very much for this very helpful informative video!
Great video David! Detailed and well thought out Have enjoyed your content for a few years now. Really enjoyed the OccupyTheWeb stuff, and am looking forward to his networking book. A couple of observations I hope you’re happy for me to share - Often people will recommend certs but it’s not always for the cert, it’s for the body of knowledge attained by studying the material. Where exams can be stressful or expensive (and the cert itself not always being particularly recognised, depending), is it worth distinguishing this in your future videos, IF you mean this, that is. - Your growth mindset is absolutely correct and a great thing to teach. I think in addition though downtime/fun/relaxation is important for enjoying life ‘in the moment’ and also the long-term payoff is probably stable mental wellbeing. I guess it’s a balancing act! Thanks again for all the great content David and congratulations on your 1m subscriber mark!

My greatest concern is how to recover from all these economic and global troubles and stay afloat especially with the political power tussle going on in the US.
As with any big financial decision, it’s important to keep your guard up for economic risks. However, smart planning, time management and seeking advice from a financial adviser can help keep you and your money safe.
@@IrenaDolinsek I agree with you. I moved into stock with less than $100K, and now I'm about 17K short of half a million dollars. Credits to Kathleen Yanelli Carole. She's accurate.
