DCS "BIG BUS" Mi-8 HIP... troop transport can be very deadly!
I your looking for a helo that can do the most damage because of how many troops you can deploy. Then the Mi-8 HIP is your choice!
At least until the Chinook comes out!

I have been obsessed with fighter aircrafts as long as i can remember, so when i started playing DCS it was a dream come true. BUT! when i first tried flying helicopters in DCS it was like falling in love with aviation again.
That’s great! It’s like a whole new thing to learn from scratch
You might already know this, but if you go through the F10 options to deploy troops before landing, once you land, it will automatically deploy those troops you selected in the air.
Oh little Gazelle... You mess with the HIp - you get the... knee, i guess.
---General flying tips--- Do smaller changes in power with your collective and more speed management with the cyclic and slowly feed more power as you slow down instead of reacting to suddenly falling down as you land, after 2,5 years of flying the Mi8 something clicked for me and improved my landings and approaches immensely. And I was no stranger to helicopters even before DCS... What we tend to do most of us and I see you do here is lower collective to get down and then you have to react with adding lots of it at the end, and what you end up doing is building up excessive amount of turbulent air when this change happen quickly while also correcting with cyclic trying to slow down, becomes a double whamy of trouble, and either you land hard ot pull so much power that the generators start going, because the engines bog down. You want to find the point where you are holding altitude and then just put the collective just below that point and then let cyclic pull back... gently do the rest, and as that happen you start to descend and with that you gently pull more power, this way its less dramatic, much less change of VRS and you will find your self in a ground effect hover, stable ready to set her down. TL;DR This keeps you ahead of the aircraft and once you get this you can get more aggressive without too much risk, you can do so much more than you think once you learn the right way to do it :) ----VRS---- Now.. IF you VRS, you got the Vuichard VRS recovery... Pull lots and lots of collective power, then push left or right pedal, the right is prefered in the Mi8 as thats the power pedal in that thing, and opposite to movement with the cyclic, 15 - 20 degree's, that will get you out of VRS and barely loose any altitude at all if you react fast enough, just make sure you got the space on the side you go to, thats all. Normally what people are taught is move forward or back, or push nose down to gain speed, and thats all good if you are at altitude and have to spare, but in a hover or on approach you likely do not, thats where this method is very handy. Very good for helicopters operating over powerlines or any other work were you are at low level constantly and cant dive to get out of VRS. Oh, and I have barely seen a helicopter IRL... just slightly obsessed with them, Mi8 was my first module in DCS!
Helos on Splitcok are lethal although you have to be smarter than ever with placement - you can't hang on the ground anymore because of the dust spotting and as soon as you lift they run 1k toward the enemy. But... transit times are shorter, units are closer together and you can clear a sector with a Helo in a few drops. If you aren't into airquake, helos will be the winning asset on the new map.
Very true
the hip looks so goofy but it does so much! takes a huey and hind and just adds a lot of seats. great aircraft!
All very true!
Hip is beautiful to me
@@sirschizoSoviet helis are freaking awesome looking imo, they all have that style with rounded shapes.
@@Tacticaviator7 Agreed.
I adore the Soviet aircraft. Both beautiful and useful
19:25 the realization on his voice lol
Great video. Im enjoying the Mi8 way more than the Hind. I feel like using the Hind as a weapons platform is just suicide.
Gazelle's Mistrals can shoot down missles too
HIP GANG!!
@DTMCRAZYGAMING >>> Great video...👍
A heli dogfight... neat
That’s right! One of the best feelings of you win the fight!
Making me want to try out helos!
Go for it!
far i love dcs
raaaahhhh lets gooo DTMCRAZY GAMING just posted!!!! RAAAHHHHH
Yyyooouuu gggoootttt iiittt!!!
Really great stuff! Hope for some more Gripen content ;)
TY nothing quite yet for the Gripen but I f you have any ideas for something that might be different then other vids, I’d be interested in hearing them
This was some cool footage. I subscribed.
Thank you! Welcome to the channel
HIP troop drops are DCS ASMR
Awesome video! Hip 🦾
TY 😊👍
Once again another amazing video
TY very much👍
Finally a new new vid keep going love youre vids
TY
Awesome, was thinking of your channel yesterday that it seemed a while between posts... Didn't disappoint with this one.
Yea I very sorry… this time of year gets a little busy for me with the change in seasons and the holidays coming up. Once the F-4 is released I’ll have plenty of videos to work on
@@DTMCRAZYGAMING Sorry if that felt like a complaint. I meant it more like I miss your videos. Your content is always enjoyable and sometimes I learn a little too from watching.
@@Teab8g NP I didn’t read that as a complaint. I’m more sorry to all my viewers that I haven’t bin able to keep up on my normal schedule
Man wake and bake and a new dtm vid what else ya need!
Das right!
cool seeing hip content
Yea there isn’t too much of them out there
You always make sick intros, its great
TY I’m glad to hear that your enjoying them!
@@DTMCRAZYGAMING you make them in replay right? those are some insanely good shots
@@axiolot5857 correct
Awesome Video!
TY
damn your intro is very cinematic. looks lliek a lot of effort. Enjoying your content
TY you! Depends on how much work I want to put into it. This one took about 3hrs and others may take a few days
@@DTMCRAZYGAMING Saw your Nuclear option videos too and you sure got my views from now on. great videos
@@MrMarco0676 glad to hear it and that you enjoyed it!
if you preselect the drop troops option while you are flying they will get out as soon as you land, can be helpful
Hmmm I’ll have to try that
another great vid
As always TY
they should put racks on the blackhawks with rockets and all that stuff
It is a mod and I believe there is another mod that adds rocket to it but I’m not 100% certain
Dude! How much time did you spend on editing the first 2:30 minutes of the video? I would love to have that look for my vids, but I can't peel of those hours without sacrificing a good amount of sleep. Very well done!
This one took me about 3 to 5 hours
I really enjoy the cinematics you do at the start of your videos but could you possibly turn down the music a bit.your voice and the gameplay is all perfect volume but i have to turn the vid down when the cinematics come on. NICE VID MUCH LOVE
Sure
Missed opportunity to play hard bass in the intro :D
Yea I use Artlist to get my music and sometime they lack a little something
I've never flown the hip, nor really know much about it, but are you able to hover with your loadout? I fly the Apache and Huey, and can land both pretty easily without slamming into the ground, but it looks like this heli has a hard time hovering when landing. Is this due to weight? Or was this intentional? Is there a reason you never come to a full stop then land (Unless it's just because it's slower)?
Like all aircraft, it takes time to learn how to fly. This video I had a heavy payload so it would take time to come to a complete stop.
@@DTMCRAZYGAMING ah I see. I wasn’t really trying to hate or anything just trying to understand it a bit more, you flew fine imo. As I said, I fly the Apache, so I’m used to coming to a complete stop and then slowly lowering it (also a lighter heli), because of how weak the landing gear are, feels like they break with a small enough tap sometimes (Kinda like the F-16 Viper’s just a bit stronger)
I've got an Index, DCS with the module and a decent rig (4080) Do I need more than a joystick to start learning how to fly this beauty?
To help have a better experience in DCS. I would get the TrackIr or use VR headset to allow you to look around
I have a Valve Index brother. How I should have phrased my question is, in addition to my single joystick and headset, should I get more hardware or are VR controllers good now for flying?@@DTMCRAZYGAMING
@@Rickmanou81293 I would say to start off with what you have and work from there
well worth having pedals and a throttle - I've never used a collective lever peripheral, but fixedwing throttles work fine for helicopters. I think the Hip doesn't have rudder trim so you'd have a tough time with a twist stick
if you did those landings in arma 3 the helicopter would've instantly exploded
Get ARMA
Do you use track ir?
I do
@@DTMCRAZYGAMING what model/type?
@@TIGER_199 the latest one, TrackIr 5
What server is this?

Shoot like ukrainian helicopter is possible ?
Not a propeller! It’s a rotor! Get it right.
