CROSSOVER | The Carmelo Anthony & Allen Iverson Experiment | Short Film

"Crossover" is an original short film that takes a deep dive into a time where the Denver Nuggets attempted to create the ultimate scoring duo, bringing All-Star Allen Iverson to the Mile High City to play alongside rising star Carmelo Anthony.
Years before the Denver Nuggets ever found themselves in the NBA Finals, they were desperate for a contending roster in the midst of the extremely competitive Western Conference. With a disgruntled Allen Iverson wanting out of Philadelphia, the stars aligned for the formation of one of the game's most unlikely duos.
This short documentary is not associated with Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, or the Denver Nuggets.

    • @ The Trap That's true..i have been a nuggets fan since the mid 70s and i remember some of the great Nuggets teams of the late 70s and early 80s with Issel and English would consistently win 45 to 55 games but the western conference was ABSOLUTELY loaded throughout those years. @kevincampbell4708@kevincampbell470811 ай бұрын
    • I agree, it's really strange. Honestly, after looking into it more, I just think the structure in Detroit was deteriorating and there wasn't enough around AI at that point in his career for him to thrive. Mix that with his own personal issues with the franchise suggesting he should come off the bench, and you have a pretty bad combination. I would've loved to see him stay longer in Denver, it seemed like they were right on the cusp of figuring things out. Billups brought the winning mentality and experience Denver needed, and If there could've been some way for AI and Chauncey to be on the team together with Melo, you're talking about a legitimate title contender. Glad you enjoyed!

  • The success to the naked eye that the nuggets had with Billups looks like a higher success result than with AI, but the things that are overlooked is that AI and Melo didnt play together all that much time, the first season Melo and as you said other roster were out on suspension, Melo had injuries, and AI was pretty much on another Sixers team for a while til they returned, we all know Iverson wasnt really committed to those practices like that, Billups was traded with 2 other players unlike Iverson that came alone, the results probably would have been alot different if Iverson went to the Nuggets with a player that he got a chance to get experience with prior to coming to Denver like Billups coming there with Mcdyess, not to mention the Nuggets were eliminated by the same team as the last season, so would they have gotten further in the playoffs if they played the Lakers earlier? I doubt it. The only thing that Denver team was truly missing to stop the Spurs the first season, and the Lakers the next season, was some actual defense, which Camby was truly the only noteworthy team mate known for good defense and a proven top tier defender, Iverson naturally was going to be somewhat a "liability" for defense in a 5 on 5 sport that the average height is probably 6 5, he simply didnt have the length to be able to stop a Kobe, or even be any sort of threat defensively to a Lamar Odom or a Pau Gasol, so offensively, there was no issue, the defense is the thing that was heavily lacking, and as J.R Smith said, they lacked any true leadership person to make them all really mesh, thats probably the only thing Billups really brought there to Denver, the Pistons' game was probably built on strong team values, being that they didnt really have offense as something to really bully players with, so the defensive mindedness is probably what he was able to bring, Billups had the size to more effectively challenge bigger guards and make it harder for them to score; no one is going to take a 6 footer seriously attempting to get in their way honestly.
