    • @@thevipez8740 context bro. The woman was criticizing the soldiers for not losing anyone while lots of natives ended up dying. Rory explained that they fought from long range. If someone from the soldiers died it would have been something to commend according to the lady speaker's logic, but it would have been meaning less because a soldier's death in that battle would not have saved any extra lives, in fact less gunfire may have compromised more lives against the dragon. Hope my explanation cleared up the quote a bit, but I wonder......Rory's words seemed perfectly clear to me.

    • @@VALAREZ it wasnt lots it was 1/4 "If someone from the soldiers died it would have been something to commend according to the lady speaker's logic" but did a ton die? and i guess you didnt get my comment, of course the quote is implying that it would be commendable by the speaker ladys logic if they also died instead of the natives, but if you read my original comment, i was responding to spmeone that said this was like very tied in to now, and then i ask who wants soldiers to die for no reason?

  • It's awesome how Rory was able to deduce that through the questions being asked, that the military is being disrespected. She defended them and in the same conversation attacked the people that are trying to cause them trouble. She's a fierce demigod warrior, but her intellect is not to be fucked with either.

Second, I support English dubs just as much as the next person does, I never said that ALL the characters dubbing would be horrible, I just said Rory’s voice in English would be horrible to hear. Stop acting like I’m destroying the foundation of English dubbing with just a simple comment, I know how hard voice actors work to give us good quality anime, but you have to admit that some anime series have horrible dubbing.   • One of the things about Rory Mercury that I love so much is that she isn't a lover of War. She's a priestess of it. She believes war has a place, a purpose. And this speech illustrates that so well. It's a refreshing take on being a follower of War.

    • Actually, if you think about it.. war is horrible but as you said it has a place, even in our world. Since the beginning of our time. War have been fought for resources and countless people have died, yet that has controlled our numbers. Now that we are living in a "peaceful" world, hunger, devastation, suffering is rampart and create even bigger problems. Wars are, in a way, a necessity

    • One can also get mad at soldiers for cowardice and dereliction of duty. The politician is obviously a parody, but somewhere in her long winded ramble accusation is that the civilian lives that were lost were sacrificed to protect the soldiers, which is the opposite of the civilian/soldier roles.

She has a lot of nerves trying to accuse them of sacrificing civilians without fighting that thing herself. If it wasnt for Tiffa (that's the elf's name right, it's been a few months since I watched Gate) the dragon probably would have killed everyone. People like this baka would have ran away so fast, all the civilians would have died. And then they'd get their head bitten off cause the dragon would have been hungry at that point.

    • This is how it is in many societies. Even in countries like the US people often look at folks and say "you should respect your elders" I had a person one time at a conference talking about how to collect funds for a group say that to me after I suggested looking at various retail/food companies for donations. I stated to the person that unless they had spent more time working at those places than myself to stuff it as I both knew how much some gave out and was on a board that determined donations from one of those companies

A lot of the recent characters and stories that the western comic industry are churning out are downright unlikable, weakly written and quite frankly just not respectable.   • God this show needs to continue. One of the more unique anime iv seen, and really nothing quite gets up there with it. Action, fantasy, sci-fi, slight harem, politics, Isekai, mixed in with alright writing, characters you remember, and effective timeline setting progression. Oh, and we got the “Dragons” by episode 6.
