  • 40 is not too late to start. My science career didn't start paying me a significant salary until I was in my late 30s. Until then I was getting $30k/yr. I took the advise of my guide who i mirror her model then it rocketed up to $100k/yr in my 40s. I started saving $1600 per month into my 401k. The trick to saving is to NOT grow your lifestyle to match your salary. I retired early in my mid 50s with close to a $2M net worth and over $1M invested. For safety, I did not dip into retirement savings and allowed it to continue to grow as I approached 60.

The limit was so small lol but I took it and worked on it. Because if that it helped my credit and I believe that’s what made me finally get approved for navy fed with such a high limit. they're still working on increasing the capital one since it was so low. All in all I’m satisfied.

I am currently in middle school and for the past couple years I have been looking for ways to make money. Before watching this video, I had seen ads saying, "Make money with almost no work". I know now that everything takes work. However, if the work is fun, then it doesn't feel like work. I was intrigued by writing, designing websites, and thumbnail designing. To limit this comment to just one takeaway is difficult but one idea that has been consistently highlighted for me recently is the idea that if you dedicate the time into developing a skill, it will reap benefits which has always felt daunting as I struggled to find something I felt intrinsically motivated enough to stick to; however, this video has shown me that if I just start and take consistent(even if small) efforts towards one of these endeavors it will pay off. • Personally, my key takeaways in the video were the concept of the J-curve and the task of writing as a side hustle. The idea of the J-curve stuck to me because it cemented the idea of a quote that I read, "trust the process", which literally means to trust the process and things will eventually go right for you. Another takeaway for me was writing as a side-hustle. I know personally that I'm not an adept writer however I do like to read occasionally, and sometimes I have ideas about things that I read and would write them for my own personal pleasure. Currently Im a high-school student graduating to college this year. Thank you for the video as it gave me many insights and inspirations about what to do next in this upcoming chapter in my life.

  • Hey Ali, I have to say you did a good job showing that it's something bigger than just a "hustle." It's the value you want to create and plant seeds for the long term because in the end we all want money to nudge all of us to become more secure in life. The biggest take away was not how this side hustle can make me a few dollars a month to save but what do I as a person can do something of value to contribute to other people's life. It's something I find interesting and something I wouldn't mind transitioning to if I considered it as a full time job. I'm happy that you set the intention of a side hustle as it being something that can enrich your life rather than it being something you have to endure.

  • My learning from this great and knowledge rich video is the definition you gave at the very beginning of the video where you said - you need to provide value in exchange of money, and I believe that is the most important thing when it comes to any kind of hustle. When we think about side hustle, most of us think of ways in which we can make fast money, but we forget the fact about making sure our service is providing value to the client/customer. We need to focus on the problem and how we can help solve it in today's day and age. My action point will be to understand some of interests and skills that I already have or that I need to build in order to make sure that I can provide value through my services and also to be patient in this process and not expect anything quick, to grow and learn gradually. Thank you for creating this, Ali :)

  • Hi Ali, I'm a student who used to teach jounger kids and help them with homework as a side hustle. Now I'm searching for another side hustle. Your video made me realise than any project takes time before starting to create a reasonable amount of money, so what I took away from this video is that it is not useless to start learning a skill even if it seems hard in the beginning and even though it doesn't pay off straight away. i would love to become a web designer so I guess I'll start looking into that!

    • A friend and I just created a community about the best business models in 2024 (link in bio). We've put so much effort into this and finally the pieces are coming together. 2024 LETS GO

  • Thanks for the video! I'm already on the web designer path (and I also think about branching out in writing, content curating and youtubing with this). Funnily enough, I started re-designing websites, which I thought could be better, a while ago and even began changing the copywrite/slogan if I felt the one used was too generic. Still have to find the courage to actually show this work : D
